Just an idea but you could pick up a couple of those 1/48 scale Testors kits as they are fairly affordable on ebay. One you could build to have a heads up on whatever fit problems arise and to work on painting skills and the other for a "for real" build. That would get you over some of the "couldn't do it justice yet" fear.

Thanks, Mustang, for the suggestion but I'm way ahead of you there. I've got 2 of the Testors kits and about a half dozen of the 1/72 scale kits (Academy, USAirfix, and Hasegawa). That's one of the reasons I did this year's Weekend Madness group build to get motivated and get moving modeling again. I'll probably start with one of the USAirfix kits. They only cost me $4 a piece. Thanks for letting me know I'm on the right track.

Nice to see you back in here Joe. I look forward to your next project. I hope your well and have a great Christmas.

Never went away buddy. Just been hangin' out in the auto section for the last 4 years. Actually.....it's helped my overall modelings skills ALOT hanging out in there.

As far as me? I'm well doing good and am planning on a good Christmas. How are you doing?

Ahh.....that would explain it. Glad you stopped back in this area.  I'm doing well.  Still vertical.....Toast

To echo others, your band of friends and followers will happily watch. If you build it they will come and all that.

Didn't another of your 190 threads get resurrected yesterday? I'm not awake yet.

And hey, Nathan, it is good to hear from you indeed. Try not to be a stranger.

still here, busy building, got two phantoms, a Sabre, and Tornado on the bench...

What is it with all these great WWII builders? Everybody moves on to modern jets. Stick out tongue

Hey I'm still waiting for you to finish the Ar234........

That one is at the forefront of any aircraft build. Hell it's been halfway complete now for four years. lol

Still got a couple of Holy Grail Autos to build and I should be ready.

Totally understand the Holy Grail thing. One kit I'd like to do is an OV-10 with my Uncle's tail number but I know that I couldn't do it justice yet. But I'll keep building and learning the skills needed to complete the task.

I'm watching the Auto builds.

Very nice looking build! I always thought that that was an interesting airplane with the long landing gear and the paddle props.

Thanks Bill. I guess I just fell out of love with aircraft for a while. It doesn't help that I've got an automotive repair background and love hotrodding in the 1:1 scale world. I really don't building factory stock stuff that much and use my creative skills to build that which I cannot afford in the real world. Lately though, I've had an itch that I don't think I can ignore for too much longer to build another WWII subject. I've still got one or two more automotive builds to go that I'm pretty much in the middle of.

My first completed kit in near 30 years was a 1/72 Hobby Boss Hawker Hurricane for this years Weekend Madness group build. It's not pretty but it was what I needed to get off the fence and out of the shadows and start building again. It was one of the easy assembly kits but the painting was what I feared the most. Like I said it ain't pretty but I learned a lot and got over the fear.

Finish your current projects, go outside, take a deep breath and ponder what aircraft is calling for your detailer's touch. I for one can't wait to see what you come up with but I know that it will be worth the wait. Maybe you should do an egg plane for some fun and less stress.

LOL. Thanks Bill. Still got a couple of Holy Grail Autos to build and I should be ready.

There is nothing run of the mill about the result.  Incredibly detailed, wonderful build.

Thanks Aggieman

Really been thinkin' about building me another aircraft these days as it's goin' on almost 5 years now since I've built one. Found this thread for some inspiration.....

Go for it, Mustang!! All of us like watching your WIP's. I'm always amazed at how much detail you can pack into a model. An aircraft kit is calling your name and we're waiting to see if you answer!

Thank you for the kind comments fellas.

Greatmaker: It aint that bad really. It just has to be broken down into bits, planned out properly, remember not to go too fast and it's all good.

Joe: The one you just got through with in that Bf109 of yours was right there with it or bettter.
