I'm going to have to steer him toward Cody. He (Cody) loves doing them, plus he's a genius at it.

Hmm...this GB is pretty tempting.  I love building Tamiya's 1/48 -D kit and I have a few in the stash.  Maybe (maybe) if I can get all the other projects cleared off my bench, I'll jump in with one.

Anyway, for those of you that will be starting soon, I thought you'd be interested in this site:

Cheers!

I am in for this. Not sure which kit will come out of the stash, but it will be  P-51 in 1/72! The start time gives me plenty of time to finish other stuff before this starts. Thanks

I'm waiting for someone to sing up with the P-82. That would be cool.

If one could wait, it could be built in conjunction with Bish's "1946" what if build next January

Ah,  you are referring to the double Mustang. Monogram makes one, AND, it's a turkey. I got one with a 50% off coupon at Michaels and it's a miserable kit. VERY poorly done. I binned it pretty quick.

What would be an ambitious build would be to buy two decent Tamiya, Academy or whatever 'good' model company Mustangs and then keep the centre wing assembly from the turkey Monogram kit and try to mod it to the good planes. This would be a cool attempt. May have to consider that someday. That centre wing assembly was actually quite well done with the .50 cal gun bay with removable panel. Oh, man, that was a crappy kit otherwise!!! Angry

Oh, I see.  I've never seen the inside of that kit. Your idea may be worth exploring next year,  dependant on time and money of course.

yeah, you'd have to dismantle 3 kits to make one. Challenge for sure.

I would like to be part of this build with a Round 2 '67 Malco Gasser and a 1/32 Tamiya Mustang. I hope I'm being realistic here. BTW, is this GB going to be based here in the aircraft section or will it move to the Group Build section?

Jelliott523 - I have a set of the Bee decals in 1/32 if you want them.  They were included in the Top Drawings book on the P-51.  I don't build 1/32 so you can have them if you want them.  PM me your address and I will send them out.

Hey guys, I've been wanting to do a P-51 for years now, and 18 months is a timeframe I think I can  work with! Please put me down as a TBD. This would be a great subject for my first NMF, but no promises. Wink Great badges CodyJ!

We will be moving it to the Group Build forum on Saturday. I will get you down with a '67 Malco Gasser and  a 1/32 Tamiya Mustang.

Raven728, I got you down TBD.

Steve, that would be fantastic!  I could definitely use them.  I was bidding on a kit that had them and I lost the bidding war.  I can always pick up another 1/32 mustang.

I've sent you a PM.

Heading to my lhs on Sat morn. Gonna pick up a P-51B and get that started. I will also prowl the aisles for an 'automotive' Mustang. It really has to pop for me to get one, something unusual. We'll see. Also, gonna keep an eye out for something Boeing.

Rob, It won't be hard. Take a look at this website.

Boeing Planes

And that is just a sample. The rules will be any Boeing related/partnered company's i.e. General Dynamics, Bell, Raytheon,  Lockheed Martin, McDonnell Douglas and the list goes on.

Boeing Partner Companies

Wayne is even going to build a JGSDF PATRIOT 3. The field is wide open. I suppose one could even build a BMW since they are a partner as well.

2 more days until the start of the build.

Here is a website I found of a P-51 restoration. Some interesting photos.

Loved the "fuel to noise converter'.....  2 things in this world you will never forget the sound of once you have heard them....The sound of a 12 ga. pump shotgun being racked and Rolls Royce Merlin at full song.

Cody and I will start one up Saturday night.

I'll take the front page with the rules and roster, Cody is handling the second page with the completed Wall of Fame pics.
