I've been out of the modeling loop for about a year now (due to lots of life changes.) I'd like to join this build by entering a 1/72 Airfix P/F-51D Mustang.Markings/scheme yet to be determined.

#55 Voodoo Chile is a highly modified P-51D that races in Reno. It is a multicolored paintscheme, mostly purple.
Yes, that P-51B that is at Warhawk is the basis for the kit I'm planning. Fortunately, the aircraft in your picture is less than a mile from my house, so getting good reference shots will be pretty easy.

Yep that is the one I'm talking about.
There is an old Revell Kit that has these decals with it. If I cant find the kit, I'll take a picture of the real one and make my own decals. I may even end up buying the Barracuda decal sheet for the P-47 and use the "Bee" from that sheet.

For anyone who might be interested. I was just informed, by someone in the industry, that Revell Germany is going to re-issue the 1/32 P-51B in February. It is unknown at this time what decals will be coming with the kit or if it going to be re-tooled. If/when I find out more I can post it here.
Please keep me informed. I would really like that kit.

Opened the box and get instruction sheet for a "K" with funky invasion stripes and decal placement for one US and two RAF birds, Got the correct decals though. Hope they still have the sheet, but would be pretty close if not. Emailed them waiting to hear back.

Hey Steve, I'm wondering the same thing. I have an old A-36 and a P-51A. I've only built P-51Ds and had thought about jumping in sometime this summer or fall with one or the other.

LOL, no buddy not yet. The patch is just a "place holder" I will put out a reminder thread in April.The official GB will start on June 15 and run a year. June 15 2015 is the 99th anniversary of the first flight of Boeing's first airplane, the Model 1, and will obsessively end on the 100th anniversary.I have a rough sketch of the interested parties, and there are several, so I will add you to it.
