The model looks very well done, nice and clean, good canopy work.

I do think your back drop is too dark, it may work better to have a lighter blue with a little refectivity to help even out the light.   Being further away from the subject and using a longer lens helps to avoid distortion.

I have a lot of fun photographing my models.  I used to like natural light, but now I use my workshop as a studio, mostly because natural light can be so variable and I have too many trees in my yard that create shadows.  One thing I did was change all the workshop light bulbs to the same color temperature, 6000 Kelvin in my case but it may be more important to get the same temperature than any particular temperature.  It helps digital cameras correctly set the white balance.

Looks great Chad, are you going to bring it to the meeting on the 4th? You've moved to the next level of scale modeling, wanting to take better photos of your masterpieces. For what it's worth from a knob photographer who hasn't had a fair camera (Pentax K-1000) for over 20 years, I agree with Jean, the background could be a tad lighter. I would love to get a nice camera to fool everyone into thinking that I'm actually good a model building LOL.

 

I’ll be there with 189 in hand!  I wish you could spend more time at home but it’ll be good to have you back for a while!

Well done! The greenhouse looks tidy, not easy to pull off in1/72.  I wonder if a new tool Bv-141B will come out, to keep your new creation company?

Hello my friends. I am calling this one done! I really think my next challenge I need to tackle in scale modeling is photography. I’m really getting frustrated with the quality of my photographs.

Well, now I remember why this one has been sitting for so long... 4 hours of masking!   But, I see the light at the end of this tunnel.

Yes, I had some gaps. I filled them with Mr Surfacer if I recall. I also hand painted the canopy. 

I won't be there Saturday, I'm taking the Kirishima to the IPMS Contest. I feel like punishing myself. 

I agree TJ, I think this is a new mold for ICM.

Wish I could have it ready for Saturday!  Question, when you made yours, did you encounter the gaps in the greenhouse canopy too or is this just builders error?

Thank you everyone for the kind words!  The gaps in the greenhouse canopy are what’s stealing my momentum at the moment. I’m thinking a dilution of white glue and water is what I’ll use to fill the gaps around the clear parts. Anybody have any better ideas? 

All that masking....yikes. You're gonna need the patience of a Saint to get through that. I'm looking forward to this one.

That looks like a tough wingroot issue with the surface detail.  And that greenhouse!  But thats what makes these German bobmbers look so cool.  Coming along nicely.

Oh, wow, slow and study is definately the way to go but you’re doing a great job sir!

Hello friends! Well, I making steady progress on the FW 189A–1. I have encountered some pretty nasty gaps in the wing roots and in the cockpit glass. The greenhouse was a little difficult because some steps require you to install individual panes of glass so gluing was a real treat. But, slow and steady progress is my typical formula so I still have quite a ways to go. Thank you for looking!
