The 2015 /16 Red Hot and Rollin Automotive Group Build--Ended

Thanks guys. Yeah, I've been told just this afternoon to take it easy this weekend ito exercise when I suggested a run for some partners of mine.

When he spelt it out for me, it struck me how you just keep going without realising what you're doing to your body. (They call it denial!) A 21k trail run is not easy. I did one last weekend, I'm doing one next weekend. Next weekend has gotten over 1100m of elevation! I expect to be lost in scenery, but it will still hurt like hell... The weekend preceeding that, we did an off-road duathlon. That IS hard (esp since we raced each other!) And two weeks before that - and extreme endurance MTB race of 230k's. I think the weekend inbetween we did a 30k trail run in the mountain and another 50k MTB ride. Yeah, and I was casually thinking about a 20k run in the mountain and a 50k MTB ride this weekend, just before the trailrun next weekend. It took a good friend to point out to me that... sheet dude, just recover for one weekend, esp with the added stresses. And add to that all the training preceeding the "big race"...

As for (the added stresses I so casually referred to) my mother-in-law, I really appreciate the concern! She's better and in recovery now. "Just" some fluid on the lung, which had to be drained - heck of an exercise for anybody, let alone if you're 82! (My wife was a "late surprise"!) Fortunately no TB or any other negative type results. But she's tough - and at least we get along very well! Unlike most people who refer to their mother-in-laws and "parking the broom" in one sentence! ;) 

I will follow and hope to be back soon with some progress!

Okay, no pics from my side - my memory card went up the creek during my daughter's last netball game of the season.

Progress report - at least there was some progress! On the Williams the rear end is starting to take shape and the initial stages of rear suspension has begun - so yeah, admittedly not much! One of the complete wishbone sections (the top one) was supposed to snap in place, but had to resort to CA due to the lip that was supposed to have been there to keep it in place, simply wasn't there on my kit. Very unlike Tamiya... 

On hte Ferrari, I am happy to report that the cockpit is complete, the area behind the driver is complete and both of these sections have been attached to the floor. In the process I simply HAD to (no build is complete without it!) snap off the one mirror, just as I pressed down for a final time. It required a search and rescue party, but I managed to eventually conquer the lost mirror from the grasps of the mat monster. Of course, it now feels as if it's not as straight as it was before.

Whilst this is a big step, the upcoming engine build is the really intimidating section of the build. But hey, I'm here to learn and improve - there's a first time for everything...

Hey everybody. It's been a little bit since I've last posted but am back and hope to get this Group Build back up off of the ground.

Well here we are with the interior about 70-80% completed. The aluminum steering column helped ALOT as well as the steering wheel from the Barris T Buggy kit. All brake and accelerator pedals are PE as well as the Hot Rod Magazine in the front seat. Instrument panel and radio trim are Chrome BMF. The steering wheel spokes and center are AB'd with Alclad. I still have a set of keys and some Oakley sunglasses to paint up and adhere to the seat beside the magazine. I've got some clean up to do here and there but it's getting closer folks.....

Hello everyone! 

I've been very busy the last few months, but have slowly done a couple of builds over the last few months.  The latest is a '56 Chrysler 300b.  Here are a couple of pics, but I had to order a new front windshield since I snapped it in half.  Just waiting on that to button it up.

Tim: That thing is just beautiful!!! Holy Smokes!!!!!!!!!! Wow!!!!!!!! and anything else I can think of. It's truly great to see you around these parts again pal. Grab another kit after this one and let's rock tha house man!!!!

... and couldn't remember if I posted the '65 Chevelle.

Working on getting this finished for the Austin show next week. Ive now painted and clear coated the cab and finishing up the interior.  

installed the  hydraulic lines and finished up the interior.  Started to check out some lights. Going to bend some tubing for the exhaust stacks tomorrow             

Dang Tim! I can't remember you posting the 65 Malibu but that thing looks just downright incredible! Did you open everything up or did it come hinged? Beautiful build Tim! All your paint finishes come out top notch man! Will be watching for your Camaro build!!

Dan: Love your rollback man and am looking forward to seeing it in Austin! Still think it needed a Boss 302 or Boss 429 given the logo on the side. lol

Doors and trunk on the '68 Firebird are cut out and hinged.

Joe, I always cut everything out and hinge it.  The glovebox on the '65 Chevelle is even cut out and hinged.  lol  It was a fun build... my first "real" blown out build, if you know what I mean.

I'm just about finished with my C Roll Back. Installed the exhaust stacks and some lights just need to add the wrench on the bed. 

Jeeeez man!!! Sharp build. I really like the ingenuity that went into this build with trying to figure out how to bring all this stuff together. That had to be a challenge Dan.

I just wasn't feelin' the paint job from earlier so in the brake fluid it went to strip everything and started the whole process over again only this time the paint came out smoother and I actually made it to the clear coat this time around Here it is with the paint and the clear. I still have to apply the flames (which I ordered an adhesive template today from Australia) and clear it again. Then it'll be down to polishing and buffing out the clear. We're gettin' there folks!

Well I took the 37 Chevy and the 70 Challenger T/A and ended up with a 2nd place award for the ol' T/A.......

 A fella from Mexico IPMS took 1st place with his superb Ferrari 430 build. Anyways here's mine:

 Here's a quick test fit so far after painting the bed. I need to raise the front end just a tad but I'm likin' it so far. Flames came in a couple of weeks ago so I'll get some pics of that pretty soon.

Well, I got the flames on the hood. I shot 'em a shade darker than the Tamiya X-7 Red base color just to add a subtle effect. I still have to wet sand some of the roughness out before one more clear coat. Here's the hood..............



Here's another view that shows the whole front clip with flames. I was going for a really subtle look going for the "Ghost of Street Demons" look to pay tribute to the Street Demons series of this truck released back in 1983. Just gotta smooth it a little and go for another coat of gloss clear.
