I don't believe it'll be epic, just want to do something with depth and elevation on a cool subject. Thanks for the nice comments, as I go along I'm going to post a lot more and some closeups with the techniques, having you guys around gives me a lot of support and its much appreciated.

I'm working on the frog, I was wondering if I could carve one out of a Germans officers hat?

I started on her about two or so weeks ago, sorry I guess I should have gotten more in-progress photos but didn't think she looked like enough to take any... Anyway here is assembled, I already sprayed some areas I was worried I wouldn't be able to reach once she was totally assembled. I sprayed the primer coat on her this evening and hopefully will able to look for flaws tonight or tomorrow.

I picked up the figure set as well, I sprayed the interior of their greatcoats and now they're ready for a good coat of kalki.

That's looking good Gam, The Russians sure had some interesting artillery.

Thanks Steve, it's definitely been different from most of the stuff I've built!

Terry: Well, if you've got the a mountain cut out seems like you're making pretty good progress to me.

That's alright Terry. I usually takes several years to cut into a mountain.

Terry,

Your mountain is going to look good, I'm anxious to see it. You are going to need to build a table for it.

Well, I need to build something else for my own GB, so I'm going to build a 24 pounder naval gun. It looks like an easy build, although it has a gold plated barrel and other parts. I'm going to paint them with Krylon flat black.

Terry: Very cool! Though I'm reminded of Kelly's Heroes where Oddball's Shermans roll out of the train tunnel and start shooting up the railyard!

Steve: That's pretty awesome, not something you see everyday. Not sure what it means 'metalized' barrel- is it metal or metal coated or something like that???

Yeah Gam, that's it, Kelly's Heroes. That would make a cool dio.

I did't mean metalized, I'm not sure that's even a word. I was sleepy when I typed that and my mind just wasn't in it. It is plated with gold plastic I think. I should just be able to spray black over it.

Like I said, it's a pretty simple kit I got off eBay for a song. It's a unique change, but you guys kinda know me by now, I like out of the box thinking (no pun intended).

Ok you did say gold-plated! I was reading off the box -'metalized' barrel- lol! I think I'd just spray the thing black too.

Nice work Theuns!   Yes Great scratchbuilding, I wouldn't want to be anywhere near that thing when it was shot off, in front or behind.

Here's what I got accomplished on the 24 ponder.

The barrel trucks are supposed to be wood, but the kit did not have any wood grain, so I made some myself with an Xacto blade. I think it turned out pretty well.
Does anybody know if the trucks were a solid piece of if they were made from several stacked pieces? Pictures I've seen have the trucks painted with so many coats that I can't tell. I would assume they are several pieces bolted together. I am going to scribe separation lines unless I hear otherwise.

Here are the trucks and barrel dry-fitted. It is much bigger that I thought.

The barrel obviously needed some filling work. I think it's going to look pretty cool when I'm done.

Theuns: Very cool! Only nit-pick I'd have is a figure for scale might be a nice addition.

Steve: Looks good! I'd guess the carriage would be multiple pieces of wood stacked but I have no idea if this would be so.

Sorry guys I'm dragging again but I broke my detail airbrush and am waiting for a replacement to start the colour modulation and pre-shading on the B-4...

It's 1/35 isn't it?

Yes! some figures would be excellent, however its looks great now. Maybe you can add your Crockett to a future diorama. That would be epic. Maybe a Patton tank or Willies jeep, with some poor boot assigned with firing that monster.

Here is the wood frame of the 24 pounder.

I went ahead and scribed the truck like they were made from several pieces. I think it turned out alright.
