 MAJ Mike:

I've got a Dragon 1/35th "Maus" that's been in the stash for about 17 years.  Would that work?  Huge tank/small animal label.

hmmm....that could work. While not a swimming/flying creature, there is a layer of irony in naming one of the largest tanks after one of the smallest animals. It is quite mismatched, isn't it?  OK, its in.

Thanks.  I guess I'm in.  I've wanted to participate in a group build.

Hard to resist the Badge.  What's the protocol on displaying the badge.  Does it go up after completion of the model or is it displayed while the subject is a WIP?

Tongue TiedOops  Went back and read the rules about the GB badge.  No need for further explanation.

This'll be fun. Big Smile

MAJ Mike, the front page has been updated with your entry. You are the first non-aircraft participant! I Googled pics of that monster. Its a big tank that dwarfed the soldiers standing next to it. I'm looking forward to seeing it built up. Do you plan on adding a figure to your build to show the scale?

That's why I thought it would fit the GB specs.  No production models were ever fielded.  Good idea about the figure.  I could do that or pose a Sherman or a T-34 by it for size comparison.

Anyway, thanks for letting me join.  I've displayed that awsome (in this case the word is justified) GB badge with my profile.  This'll be fun. Toast

Owl, got a few GB commitments currently on the table, but the running time on this one may allow me to sneak another one in once they are finished. So, that being said, you can put me down for a 1/48 Tamiya Mk.II Swordfish.

The Brits also called it "The String Bag".  Because it seemed to "stretch" to meet mission requirements.  Big Smile

Ok, went though my stash and came up with:

F4F Wildcat

F6F Hellcat

F7F TIgercat

P-39 Airacobra

Do-335 Anteater

He-162 Salamander

I am assuming any of these would fit?

Though I'm leaning toward my 1/48 Czech Model Ryan XF2R-1 Dark Shark. Not only an odd name but the plane is a mutant freak herself with a prop on the nose and a jet engine in her tush. Sorta the Pushmepullyou of aeronatical engineering.

Yup, all of those will fit. That Dark Shark looks like an interesting build. I have to admit that I have never heard of that plane before.

Yes you can, but only once youve pulled excalibur from its resting place on jupiter. And even then you might have to wear century old night vision goggles made by Singaporean pixies exported to mars just to see the little buggers Wink lol.

Owl: If you would please go ahead and put me down for the 1/48th Czech Model Ryan XF2R-1 Dark Shark. After building several limited run kits I said I'd swear off them for awhile but heck I'm feeling whimsical and willing to go with something whacky. Not sure when I'll be able to start though, maybe sometime this summer or early autumn.

BTW: Not surprised you've never heard of it since Ryan only built one. I'd only heard of it due to my passion for bizzare, weird, and off-beat subjects. And of course  it helped when Squadron had a pile of Czech Model kits on sale for 50% off so I grabbed about a half dozen different weird aircraft.

gamera, the front page has been updated with your entry. Don't feel too bad if you can't start right away. I wont be able to either: its the last few weeks of class before finals, so all my classes have really picked up, forcing me to put a halt on model making until summer.

I'll look forward to that wacky plane!
