Jack - that looks ANNOYING! Best of luck with it!

I'm shifting most of my focus to the Tamiya P-47 at the moment (trying to finish it before February 18th for a contest), but rain got in my way tonight, so among other things I knocked out the last of one wing's internal supports.

On the Bench: 1/32 Trumpeter P-47 | 1/32 Hasegawa Bf 109G | 1/144 Eduard MiG-21MF x2

On Deck:  1/350 HMS Dreadnought

Just spent a good hour or so painting the boring tires on the roadwheels. Boring, boring.

Anyone have any info on whether the Italians sprayed the camo on their armor. Appears to be little brush stokes from the diagram in green. I could probably replicate that and brushing would be the easiest way to do it.

Tigerman- I'm thinking of changing my build if thats alright. The Macchi 200 is slowly coming along but that kit needs lots of work and i'm already burnt out..So I was thinking of breaking out Hasegawa's 205 Veltro 1:48 scale with some goodies...Then finishing the 200. Sorry Can't help you out much on armor questions, but post some pics.

Definitely sprayed their airplanes.

Initially read that as "spayed"...

Oh no... definitely a bunch of over achievers...

If you all haven't, get bookmarked with STORMO magazine website. That'll keep you busy for a while.

Italeri is putting out these great kits. My MAS boat and the crew set is due any day.

Her's a couple of RA builds of mine over the years.

 and an RM one.

Eric - regarding camou application on Italian armour, I haven't ever come across literature stating exactly the methods of application.  From photos, particularly those taken in museums, they do look airbrushed.

I've no idea what pattern you plan on doing, but seems minute and intricate?  If so, hand brushing it is a valid option.  Followed with a light re-spray of the base colour to reduce the harshness should be fine, or if you use any of the filtering, glazing techniques that too should do it.

regards,

Jack

After reviewing it, the pattern isn't as small as I first thought. I might try spraying and if that doesn't work, I could always brush it. I just want something to give it a little pizazz.

Thanks for everyone's help.

Now to get some real work done!

These pre-cut railings are a godsend. For my first real attempt at PE,I'm happy with the results so far.PITA for sure, but I am enjoying the challenge.

This is why I don't build ships Ed. I hate PE and you need it on these big vessels.

Interior painted and, as a the photos show, top structure is glued in place.  Plan to have one or both crew figures standing in the open hatches. For that reason, didn't bother with any scratch detailing inside.  The shelves was for ammo, each compartment held a belt of 50 rounds which in turn was stored in a canvas bag.

regards,

Jack

Great progress guys Toast

TD you picked some book about the Roma? The review i read speaking about inaccuracies on rudders and props shaft positions, also lenght of hull. Also a wrong step on the main turrets upper armour. Minor inaccuracies on some artillery pieces.
