Not much to report on my end sadly. I was actually hoping to be done by now. I need to respray the bogies and then attach the wheels to the hull. I also need to add the camo.

Same boat. Trying to get the Tamiya Jug done in time for a contest, so the Fiat's been shelved for the moment. On the plus side, I just literally discovered last night that Montex makes inside-and-out canopy masks for the kit. Will definitely be picking those up, since masking the insides of canopies is basically a nightmare for me, but adds a lot in 1/32 scale.

On the Bench: 1/32 Trumpeter P-47 | 1/32 Hasegawa Bf 109G | 1/144 Eduard MiG-21MF x2

On Deck:  1/350 HMS Dreadnought

Enrico, great link! Thanks very much.  I was hoping to finish the kit as much out of the box as possible, but after looking at that build, very tempting to add more stuff to it. Loved that detail engine.

Great progress guys Toast

TD you picked some book about the Roma? The review i read speaking about inaccuracies on rudders and props shaft positions, also lenght of hull. Also a wrong step on the main turrets upper armour. Minor inaccuracies on some artillery pieces.

The book I picked up is Warship Pictorial #37,RM Roma.I was hoping to get some good views of the front of the superstructure camo.So far so good.As for inaccuracies with the kit,I have no idea. But it is a quality kit that is building up nice so far.

LOL Smile just reported some reproduction inaccuracies from the "rivet counter" reviwer of the kit. About the fitting and overall qualituy of the kit the same article put the Roma as one of best ship kits and best fitting for the trumpeter .

i'm about finishing an italian subject but was not produced in italy ,then not matching the GB, the seabat from marina militare

As i finish this can get hard work on the veltro Toast

TD - that last set of Roma pics are really looking good.

Kind of a lazy weekend here, was well past  supper before I put in some bench time.   Got some base coats on using LifeColor.

Initial coat was very dark, like a panzer grey, made from blue and brown mixture.  Followed with Grigio-Verde chiaro.  This represented the grey green colour Italian tanks left the factory up until March 1941.  Last coat was suppose to be Giallo Sabbia chiaro, but it looked pretty light in the bottle so mixed in about third of the dark version of the same name.

Overall it does have a green tinge to it, likely from the undercoat.  Attempting to achieve the look of a somewhat loose overspray of the desert colour.  The grey green streaking is suppose to be the undercoat showing - done with a paint brush.

Next step will be to re-spray the desert colour in order to tone down the streak's edges.

regards,

Jack

Nice work TD, is that all brush painted?

Sweet camo Jack, interested in how you're going to blend it in.

Stop teasing with the close-ups Ed. Can you give me one or two full hull shots?
