29 Build:  calling her *FINISHED* ...bear with me on the number of pics...but she is big!

**Customization from OOB- Added custom made nose art; added mission credit bombs of 7 since "Mission to Albuquerque" was lost on Mission #8 over Kobe, Japan on 17 March 1945. No Credit was issued for this last mission; added black band on tail to indicate "lead ship" of the formation; added S/N 4849 to rudder.
**Paint: (3)  Alclad- Airframe Aluminum, Dull Aluminum, Magnesium; Testors- Steel Plate Buffing Metalizer (rattle can); Tamiya pastels of Rust (on engine exhaust pipes) and Soot (for the exhaust realism).

Here we go...

Beer...Beer...GULP GULP...AHHHH!

A special thank you to to Randy for doing a fantastic job hosting the NMF IV GB. This was my first GB as crossover and I really enjoyed it. Additionally, I would like to thank the many accomplished builders on this GB and the FSM site for sharing their knowledge/experience. Without it, my  Z Square 8 rendition would not have turned out ANYWHERE near as well as she did...Thank you guys!

Thanks for looking!

Guess its been a long time for me guys. Seems I have forgotten how much work a new born can be SleepSleep But I am tellin ya this Gruncle dont do diapers no way !!!!!!!!

Z Square 8 I am at a loss of words for your build man ! So I was sitting here looking at your finished pictures trying to decide which to use on the front page and for your badge. My sister walks in tellin me its my turn to watch the little one and sees the pictures of your build, so I will steal her words.

"Oh my !!!!! Would you look at that ? Its beautiful who built it ?"

So I told her the story behind your build. she said.....

"His Uncle Bob has to be seeing this and must be very honored and proud, it looks so real !!!!"

Very well done sir Bow Down

Italian Starfighter, Gamera and Z Square 8 the front page has been updated and your group badges are there also. I want to thank you all for sharing your builds with us Toast

I must be getting old, or something, did I enter my 1/48 Otaki P-47 in this build Vetteman?

If so I will post some pix of the silver paint asap.

Here is my shameless "punt" post. I don't recall if I entered this Otaki 1/48 Jug in this GB.

It is in a "what if the SAAF 2 SQN" Korea sceeme. They flew F-51's ,but if the USAF had more F-47's there I am sure they might have used them for ground attack.

I tried to simulate an "acceptable" NMF with various silvers , but next to Alclad I failed dizmally!

1/48

1/48

From now on, only Alclad for my NMF planes LOL!

I wonder if Randy will go for a fifth consecutive term. Good question

Just had contact with Vetteman our gracious host.... He is having trouble posting anything for four days now he says. While he is sorting that problem out with the mods he asked me to give you the go ahead 68GT!

Finally made it here so I can post jeeze. Seems I was running 4 versions of java at once but thats all fixed now.

And a thank you goes out to Kermit for helping me out. Beer I owe ya buddy !!!

GT your F-105 build is in Yes If it goes a bit past the end date no worries I will extend it a bit for ya.

Now for, well the news. Some of you guys know we have had a drug problem in the house for the last 2 years, the bad news is it continues to be a serious issue. My sister and I have now taken custody of her Grand Daughter and the baby's mother is well in state custody. So all this takes my time and mind away from modeling and such, I can barely manage to keep my little business going. I havent given the group the attention I should be giving it like I have in the past, this bothers me a lot. I do plan to finish the B-29 but wont even come close to making the end date for my own group further letting you all down. I have only finished 1 model in the past year. So with that said unless things in real life change in the next couple of months I dont think hosting round V would be fair to you, the builders. I do apologize to all of you.

If one of you wishes to continue the group please step up, let me know and keep it going. The builds have come a long way in 4 years and personally I would hate to see the group die.

I will try and get the front page updated with 68GT's new build and get Theuns newly finished P-47 posted and new badge done this evening. Oh and LOL yes Theuns you did enter it in the group quite a while back Big Smile

Randy: I remember now you'd mentioned what your family is going though. My apologies, it slipped my mind at the time. My thoughts and prayers that things improve.

I'm already hosting one GB and have gotten involved in way too many more or I'd offer to pitch in and help- sorry guys.

Thanks, I didn't click the notice box and misplace this one.  I have made some good progress so far and hope to put a base coat down soon.  What do you think my best option is to get this look?  Testors silver?

A couple of progress shots.

Hi guys!

I'm sorry to hear that, Randy Sad I hope things change to the better in the future...

I think I could help you guys out on this one! I am already hosting the Carrier GB, BUT! I can host part V of this one as well! It would be an honor for me to do so!

I need a nice mellow place for my 1/32 Thunderbolt anyway (with lots of AM stuff) and it looks like I found one!

My only problem: This GB will end on June 1st and there is no way I can get this big bird even 50% finished untill then Sad

Here is the list of stuff I'd be using:

  • Hasegawa P-47D
  • Quickboost engine
  • Aires wheel bays
  • Eduard Big Ed
  • Master barrels
  • Barracuda wheels
  • Kits-world Decals "Eight Nifties"

In short: I could host part 5 and if you guys don't want that, I am begging you for an extention!

Please answer me asap.

Cheers, Clemens

Randy, sorry to hear about your troubles, it must be so difficult especially when its family. I am sure you have the best wishes from al here and hopes that things can get sorted soon. And you haven't let anyone down. You have been a valued member for a long time now, and when life throws these things at you, other things have to be put to one side.

Clemens, your certainly diving in the deep end there hosting 2 GB's already. I had to miss out on this round, but I will try my best to come in on round V. Would I be right is thinking that any unfinished builds from Round IV can be carried over to round V.

I am a Norfolk man and i glory in being so

It will be exactly the same rules as for this round, so yes, every project started in round 4 can be entered in round 5 as well!

I'll open the new thread tomorrow evening (Austrian time, should be early afternoon in the states), so stay tuned!

I'll throw my 1/32 Mustang (the awesome Tamiya kit) in there as well! I just have to decide if I should build "glengary Guy" or "Feeble Eagle"...

Cheers, Clemens

I haven't progressed any further since I'm trying to decide what paint to use so should I just continue in Round 5?

If you can't devide on the paint yet, you should continue in the next round. I don't think you will finish your model before June 2nd. It's only one week untill then. Just a little hint: Alclad paints are a bit tricky to use, but look awesome!

I have the MM Metalizer non-buffing aluminum that is close to what I'm looking for but some people suggested Floquil old silver or Polyscale flat aluminum is what I might want.  I cant find any of those locally..
