well, folks, it's been a long time comin' & it isn't here yet...
but i do have every intention of starting my 1/72 Revell Abrams this coming weekend while i finish up my project 4 the Sherman GB.
even got my 1st aftermarket p/e set & a hold'n'fold 4 this one...
luckily i ordered the p/e tool before i lost my part time job 'cause i couldn't afford one now !
i know this kit is supposed 2 b the absolute best in this scale, but if anyone wants 2 pass on any construction tips, i'd b happy 2 hear 'em.
i'm really looking forward 2 this GB !

Forsty, for a 1/72 kit...you don't need any tips. You are great with those tiny things.

She turned out pretty good. Some pics are a bit fuzzy but I can see that beautiful M1 just fine.

Great job, Thundergod.

Juniormodeler

I did it by cutting out the fender from the hull on this kit then by thinning them out with a dremel then held it over a candle for a few seconds and pushed in on them when heated.. Be very carfull when doing this since you thin them out the candle will melt right through practice on scraps to be safe and good luckSmile [:)]Smile [:)]

Will, I heard the kit is very nice. I'm actually just reading the article in the last issue of TMMI that has a feature on building and detailing that very kit. I'm at work, so if I finish the article, and there is anything important to note, I'll post.

this one's going 2 b a Desert Storm vehicle. Cool [8D]
i think there is a natural law i have discovered:
at any given moment there will b a tow shackle from an m1 kit
at large in my room...
and i was being extra careful not 2 lose this one, too ! Dead [xx(]

will try 2 post some pix tomorrow...

DT:
thanx 4 the vote of confidence !

m1 project had a bit of a set-back over the weekend:
the driver's hatch has joined the tow shackle in having gone missing
in the "Bermuda Rectangle" (a/k/a my room)...
after i spent a session cutting & fitting the periscope vision blox !
i've done a thorough search of the area (twice).
it seems 2 have vanished w/o a trace...Alien [alien]Alien [alien]Alien [alien]

started scratchbuilding a replacement, but i'm thinking i mite just
take the easy way out & swipe the hatch from another kit
& save the scratchbuilt 1 4 another project.

I'm going to try again. LOL I have now Tamiya's older M1A1 and I will be doing it in Desert Sand. Since I've been away awhile on this thread, what are the favorite paints? I like either Model Master or Tamiya acrylics.

Tigerman: I'll go with Tamiya Acrylics. Well, because it's the only one that I have used so far. he-he-he. Can I finally welcome you to the M1 GB?

As far as colour goes, I'd very heartily reccomend Model Master, as they have both Acryl and Enamel. THeir Gulf War sand is an exact colour match for the US armour. Some people say it doesn't look quite right, but I however found it to be perfect.
