Very nice Dora Handi! That antenna is nicely done. What did you use for insulators? The camo and weathering is very realistic. Great tribute to the real yellow 2:

Thanks Joe and Nathan for the kind words.  Nathan the antenna was fashioned with E-Z Line  that I (or Herman actually) strung thru stripped windings from a .36 electric guitar string. It does take a bit of practice to remove the winding without distorting it, but once you have a feel for it, it's pretty easy. I won't lie, getting the line thru is tedious and slow,, but it just looks right too me compared to other winding methods I've tried . If you would like some of my discarded different gage strings just pm me your address ,, I change them on my instruments often enough where I don't need that much,, they also come in "handi" for O2 lines or different detail.  I use a .10 set so they start that small on up..... just let me know no big deal! Thanks for the great pic too!  Now that I found you on PB I'll have to see what other treasures you have there (talking mostly about your build wips!)

Thanks for the explanation Handi. I think I have some guitar string around here. If not, I will let you know. And by all means, browse away in Photobucket. Hope you find something useful.

Ok, this is a official RANT.   I've built like 3 DRAGON 190's and this is the second one with PE that is part of the canopy.  Anyone know how to get these parts to attach to each other? I tried soldering and super glue and neither worked, I'm beginning to hate this this stuff.

the M parts are the PE.

HHelp! Help!

I'm kinda at a loss here. I can't think of any reason why CA wouldn't work unless the parts are just really oily from something. You could try white glue. There is a product called Gator Grip Glue that a lot of people swear by though I've never tried it. CA usually works for me.

I'm doing the engine joints on the A-8, it's slow progress but I'm into a second round of filling and hope to have it "acceptable" soon. I also added a few bits to the Ta-152 last night. I have an Academy A-5 in 1:72 that's begging for paint, and if I can find the AM sheet with Herman Graff's markings, I'm thinking of production-lining it through with the A-8 as they share the 74/75/76 scheme, and it takes a tiny drop of paint to do the small one compared to the large...

John: I'll start by answering your question. I would probably start off with a CA to tack it and follow it up with an epoxy over the CA if it were me. That's all I really know there. Secondly there comes a point in which I decide how much effort  is this worth. I lke Eduards stuff so (and this depends on whether you want the canopy displayed open or closed. If its open try this) what I've been doing particularly if I want the canopy open is to use the whole Eduard sliding canopy with all the Eduard guts. It'll give you a great  look without all the fiddly heartache. Don't get me wrong, I'm in it for the long haul when it comes to detail but to me the PE parts above don't seem worth the hassle you are going through my fellow plastic surgeon. Just my2 cents

Cody: This all looks awesome!!! More pics...........I say more pics my brutha!!!

Cody looks fantastic! Falcon the only thing I have up my sleeve for stubborn pe is to use thick CA, if you are using the thick kind already squeeze a puddle onto a piece of cardboard and let it set a bit, with a toothpick feel it and see if it has indeed thickened , then using the toothpick apply a dab to the pe and hold briefly,,,  hth...

Cody: Looking very nice there!

Handi: She's an absolute beauty! A big one too!

John: Wow, Dragon's approach for the Canopy framing is insane! I hope you get it sorted out...

I've had the same problem with other plastic to PE attachments.  I cleaned both surfaces up with mild soapy water and a good rinse then made sure the was a good flat surface on both parts for a very very patient adhesion.  I hope this helps.

On that note I guess it is time to start my own Butcher Bird project:

I've made some progress, two rounds of work on the A-8 engine joints, one more to come -- which hopefully gets them to a point I'm happy with, so I can move on to the canopy. Also, I've got some paint on the Trimaster/Italeri Ta-152 cockpit, and my fingers are crossed the harness might be in today's mail, so expect photos in the next few days. I need to modify the exhaust units to get them to protrude beyond the fuselage sides, and that's the last major job to do before closing her up, assuming the cockpit is ready. I also just ordered the HobbyBoss D-9, as I've read good things about it and it has the ground attack gear in the box which would allow me to use some AM decals to do Rudel's bird as a companion to the Stuka of his I did last year -- without having to mix and match underwing load and airframe between kits. It'll be here in a few weeks from China, so you never know, I might try to fit that one in as well...

Cool Thunder! I always like it when that happens. Now if that would just happen today with that 1/48 Eduard DB605 brassin engine kit for the new 109 I'll be getting in a couple of months that I ordered a couple of days ago.......................................

Well here it is with the decals on.  I just need to fit the landing gear and the canopy w/ a few components. I also gave it a satin clear coat to blend the decals in.  I have only made a couple planes but so far I have enjoyed this build.  Its been quite a change from autos.

Cody: Your work on on your 190 looks terrific so far. Nice.

Rich: Wow. That looks rather epic with all the AM goodies you've got to load her up with. Looking forward to your build for sure. And , by the way, your bench appears to be way to neat and organized.Wink My bench only looks like that for a few minutes in between models when I do a "reboot" before my next build.

Here it is finished.  I am happy with the way it came out.  I used all Tamiya Paints and airbrushed it.  It was fun doing an airplane for a change.

That came out great Cody and am glad you were a part of this GB. I'll get the finished pic posted in the intro post. Which one did you want to go with for that?
