Update on the Spruce trainer.   Base colour arrived at by using orange yellow to start.  Finding it a tad too strong in the orange side, so applied another coat mixed approximately 50/50 with golden yellow.

Up next is some final details and painting on the exterior, wing struts and wheels.  Then I can start the rigging wires.

Jack

Well, I have learned my lesson with PM kits.  This was a disappointment from the start and never really got better.  I did what I could with the canopy, but my limited experience could do no more.  The over shape of the T-38 seems a bit off all over, and I'm not sure about the blue decals!  The nose landing gear was no where to be found on the sprues, and there was NO cockpit at all...oh, they did give you 2 seats!  Really!?  But hey, this is a great GB subject and I must say there are some really impressive builds out there.  jeaton01...your T-38 is awesome!  Bow Down  Mine....well, I had considered using a back pic of Davis Monthan!  Yeah, the bone yard!  Embarrassed  I would not recommend the PM T-38 to anyone.  I'm hoping my 2 Fujimi 1/48 T-38's are better kits!  So here she is.

Eagle90 - you attained a great finish, to which otherwise is a bare bones kit as you say.

I think it looks slick. Yes

--------------------------------------------

Theuns and Misty - thanks guys.  I think just like Eagle90's build, it will be the exterior finish that will hopefully captivate the viewer's attention, as there isn't much detail on the resin surfaces.

Right now I'm trying to make my own struts, as the ones from the kit aren't angled properly and is throwing the alignment off.  The outer struts are also short by a 1/4 inch.

Jack

Thank you!  I had higher hopes for the kit, but with parts missing and zero detail....I'm thinking this one will be hung in my sons room!  Embarrassed  Thank you again for the kind words!  And great job on your build!  The paint job rocks!

Hey Eagle, looks good to me mate :-)

Just as long as you had fun building it, the end result is just a bonus I say.

The Spruce is now done.

Final thoughts on this resin kit:  with some patience, tlc and scratch building, it does build decently.  Not an absolute symmetrical presentation, but pretty close.  I'd suggest if anyone is interested in this bird and this scale, to consider instead the plastic injected version by RS Models - I'm just guessing that it would go faster, and has more detail with the PE that is provided through Eduard.

On to the pics....

Side by side comparison with the Fujimi Claude:

John, thank you kindly.

------------------------------------------------------

For badges, I think there was just the two I had designed.

I have since upgraded my photo shop program.  So to test it out, worked on the Stearman badge some more, and tried a third design.  Not sure what is next, a vote, or just pick one that you prefer?

Jack

I think I like the Stearman badge most, but it still hurts to look at bent ones.

Hi Guys, I have posted the PT 17 badge on the front page, those who have completed please head over and take it if you like.

Is there anyone who would like an extention to the "deadline" ?

Hey guys, since it seems that there is no need for any extentions, I am going to call this one completed.

Thanx to all who took part in this GB, it was fun :-)

Theuns, thanks for hosting this one, and thanks for your comments (you too Misty) on the Ki-9 Spruce.

Congrats to those that finished!

Wonder what happened to Omar, he had a couple good looking builds happening at the start.

Short story, life happened and I had been away from bench since Feb. Well, with the blessing of Theuns, I finished my build up today. When my hiatus began, I had the airframe pretty much buttoned up. Here's a recap of the rest of the process.

I was very surprised at the small amount of filler that this sucker needed.

Put a white base coat on the bottin and the fuselage band

I for some reason did not take a picture of the belly once I got the yellow on.. again, Tamiya acrylics = awesome.

And I will post finished pics here in just a bit. Have to get dinner going. Mr. Mom duty calls!!

Ok here it is finished. A Harvard Mk. IIb. Originally an RAF bird, and was at sometime given to the Yugislav Partisans. I believe this is how she looked in late '44. So considering she had been training pilots for the RAF and then Tito for 4 years +, I decided to go akittle heavier on the wear than normal.

Thank you to Thuens for hosting, and my apologies for being absant for so long.

ajd - now that's different, interesting country choice, family history back there?  I like how you scuffed up the undersides. Yes

Actually those just caught my eye. Love the yellow belly RAF trainers of the time had, and the big blue and red stars just really looked good to me.. Plus I figured the chances of seeing another T-6 like this ever were pretty low.

That is one good looking T-6 you built there mate! Now worries on the "late completion" just all to have fun while building them :-)

Go ahead and grab yourself a badge if you like.

Nice to see more being finished ADJ350, i love the way its come out, what a lovely colour scheme!!

I finished the Hawk a while back. The intention was to have the hawk plugged into an EPU housing the battery. It is now done so heres the pics. the EPU if from D J Parkins at flightpath  i also added the step set from them. Both are pe and white metal and are little kits in their own right .

heres where the batteries are hidden

and with the side panel held on with a drop of white glue

the step unit

and what it looks like alltogether

Finally , FINALLY finished!!
