Nice work, Talentless (somehow I feel rude typing that name!) and Omar.

Just like a tattoo, eh?  I bet if you talked to Aaron or Tim just right they could get someone to "adjust" it.

I've been working on the Wolfpack T-38 the last few days, masking lots of glass inside and out and spraying lots of white.  The masks that come with the kit work most excellently, but none are supplied for the inside so Tamiya tape was used there.  I rescribed the fuselage spine where seam work damaged the kit lines, and I filled in a little on some of the wing panel lines with Mr Surfacer 1200 as they seemed too evident to me.  More to come, I want this one in the display case so I can start on the new Revell Stearman as soon as the two I have ordered arrive.

Finally got going with my little Airfix Chippy. These things don't take too long, but I added in some harnesses and instrument panels. I'm starting to change my mind on the scheme I was going to do, I might opt for an RAF machine this time.

Cheers

Tony

I'm just taking it one GB at a time.

Alrighty, it finally arrived - Tachikawa ki-9 by Chorozsy 1/72 scale.

A total resin kit, they also provide a clear acetate film to fashion the windshields.  It is small, lots of flash to clean up, and will definitely put the modelling skills to the test.

Bit surprised the fuselage halves actually have a pair of male/female joints for better lineup.  Regretting a bit not getting the RS boxing, as it included a pre-painted PE fret by Eduard.  Ah well, less small parts to deal with.

regards,

Jack

Hey FSM,

Nice to watch so much great modeling going on here!

I haven't had much time at the bench lately.  It was a three day holiday for me this past weekend, but I had a list of honey-dos that took priority over plastic mashing.  Hopefully, next weekend, I'll be able to share some significant progress with ya.

For now, I only have a couple of things to show.  First, the SNJ.

I started its canopy.  The clear parts are thick and brittle.  Worse yet, they don't fit!  The front windscreen's fit is passable, but the rest of the stuff is junk.  I ordered a vacuformed replacement from Squadron.

I did use the windscreen and the rear part.  Because of inconsistencies between the shape of the rear turtle deck and the clear part, I ended up with a major step.  I had a serious gap to tackle and turned to a wad of Milliput.

After everything was dry, I started sanding and blending everything together.

I decided to use the kit's rear part instead of the vac copy because the kit's plastic's a little hardier.  I figured it would handle the rough treatment better.  I'll have to polish that rear piece once all the sanding's done, but at this point it looks like things may work out.  I'll use the vac pieces for the greenhouse part of the canopy.  (Insert sarcasm here.)  I'm really looking forward to masking all the canopy panes.

Anyway, I also made a little progress on my Corsair.  (Key word: little)  It's all scribed and the major assemblies are together.  The canopy and windscreen are masked and glued on, but before I installed them, I removed the kit's gunsight and scratched a new one.  Using some clear plastic from some packaging, plastic tube and rod, I stared with this:

And ended up with this:

It's not perfect, but it's better.  I go more for representation than replication, and in my opinion, it looks more like the gunsight in my Detail and Scale book than the one that came molded onto the glare shield.

So, that's where my two trainers are at.  Hopefully I'll be able to make and share some significant progress soon.

Stay tuned!

Nice save on that Spammie's rear canopy :-)

Jack, you certanly are a very brave modler mate!  That is going to be a cool and interesting build I think.

What do you glue all resin stuff with? Cyno?

Omar - cool detail work there.

Theuns - yes, Cyno, aka super glue or crazy glue, is my adhesive choice for  resin.

Jack

That looks like a very finiky build, but the good thing from what I can see is that the interplane and cabane struts are all "N" form, so at least it win help with the allignment.

That definitely is an interesting one. I like the resin build planned for this GB, as I've never done a resin aircraft, it should be great to see it. I have done resin cars, which were more challenging in my view, and certainly resin figures, which are often better than the plastic ones.

Anyway, I've been feeling very enthusiastic about my little Chippy. I think it's just about ready for primer. I'll attach the canopy after it's primed.

Cheers

Whatever became of the Monk, the Monk, the Monk?  Oh, no, you all are too young to remember that one!  Anyway, glad to see progress on the CHIPmonk.

I haven't been doing well with updates, but until a day or two ago it was mostly watching paint dry.  I've added most of the bits except the canopies, futured, and decaled as of this evening, mostly in the last two days.  Lots of little actuators and door links, I only put two of the four door links on the main gear as they are so small I can hardly see them and the attach points are nonexistent at best.  Enough whining, luckily there are so many decals the eye is distracted from any flaws in the white paint,  and most are covered up.  I'm lik'in it.

Only because the soft picture hides the defects, Theuns!  Big Smile  The overcoat of future is drying now.  Then I have to decide if I'm brave enough to try to highlight the panel lines some.  Since most T-38's in pictures look pretty clean I'm as usual not sure about that.

John, I agree with Theuns. It looks great, and really does look like a T-38.

I made a little progress on my Chipmonk, and you're right, I'm too young.

Cheers

For you deprived young'uns, drop it on your young'uns.  I always liked the first version the best.:

The Animal Fair

Line

Melody - Line

Children's song, three versions

I went to the animal fair,
The birds and the beasts were there,
The big baboon by the light of the moon
Was combing his auburn hair,
The monkey bumped the skunk,
And sat on the elephant's trunk;
The elephant sneezed and fell to his knees,
And that was the end of the monk,
: The monk, the monk, the monk. :
I went to the animal fair
The birds and the bees were there
The old Raccoon by the light of the moon
Was combing his auburn hair.
The funniest was the monk,
He climbed up the elephant's trunk,
The elephant sneezed and fell to his knees
And what became of the monk?
: The monk, the monk, the monk. :
I went to the animal fair,
The Birds and the Beasts were there.
The big baboon, by the light of the moon,
Was combing his auburn hair.
The monkey, he got drunk,
And sat on the elephant's trunk.
The elephant sneezed and fell on his knees,
And what became of the monk, the monk?
: The monk, the monk, the monk. :
