i must admit i do like faffing about with extra bits but some just dont seem to have been made properly, these wheelwell dont really bear any resemblance to the real thing! ill bee adding some wiring to try and make them worthwhile. its too late to not use them now anyway.

spent the last session rubbing down the fuselage and wings etc. they seemed to have quite a rough "pebbly" finish i didnt like.

I've ordered some RCAF roundels, so I will finish my Airfix Chipmunk in a Canadian scheme. It should sit well with the other Canadian Chippie I did last year.

Cheers

Tony

I'm just taking it one GB at a time.

As host I should probarbly post some pix aswell! LOL

OK , this is my old heller 1/50 Stampe. It is basic to the extreme, and the fit sofar is poor, but I will beat it into submition!

Just my luck, I went to my local shop to get a 1/72 Academy T-6 and they had none, so onto plan B, a 1/72 Airfix Chippy...........none of those either! So for the meantime I will carry on with the Stampe :-)

Hey FSM, I'm wondering if I can build a -4 Corsair in VMT-1 markings.  I have the old Superscale sheet (you can see it here) and a Hasegawa -4 in 1/48 that I'd like to build.

Lemme know if it qualifies for this GB and I'll see about making time to jump in.

Thanks!

Hey Omar, am I correct that your builds will be F-4 Corsairs? If so were they ever used for aircrew training?

That is what this GB is all about, training aircraft ( fixed and rotor wing) :-)

If it was not a trainer why not enter with something else maybe?

SInse I could not find a T-6 or Chippy I was looking for I hauled out this little 1/48 Testors PT-20 from the stash.

I thought the Stampe was bare in the details but boy this PT 2- has NO interior detail atall!

I will have to scratchbuild it all.

Fun times ahead !

Sorry for the poor quality of the pic.

Hey Tony , I would like to rather build a new "better" kit, but I have decided this year to first "work out" the stash a bit, otherwize I will become a collector and not a builder  LOL

Well I must say that pit and seats of yours are WAY better than the kit ones!

Yes the cmk pit is an improvement, but to be fair it it only a cheap kit, and what you get in  the box is well worth the money iff you do it oob.

A fine sentiment Theuns, I try to do the same. But somehow I just keep on buying.

Once you get plastic in the veins , it is all over! No going back from there. I find myself going to the shops for some paint, and then see a kit I didn't know i "really needed"  LOL.

What the heck...I'm jumping in with Monogram's ol' AT-6 Texan.

I'm a teacher so I had some free time this holiday weekend.  I took advantage of my day off and got started.  Turns out I ended up finishing the cockpit.

By no means am I a master cockpit painter, but I'm sure this will look busy enough in the closed fuselage to pass.  Also, my modeling budget is super tight (Did I mention I'm a teacher?) so my aftermarket budget is practically nonexistent.  So, instead of using resin seats or PE belts, I just used the kit's seats and added some tape belts.

The kit didn't come with decals, so I'm gonna have to find me some aftermarket markings.  Besides the decals and tape belts, this build will be OOB.

Anyway, thanks for lookin'.  Feel free to share your comments and criticism.

Cheers!

Hey O. stunning work on the office there mate!

What did you use for the buckles on the straps?

As soon as I get my build for the MOY done this weekend I will be "playing allong"  It does not look good if the host doesn't post  LOL

I have the 1/48 Italeri T-6 I will be building soon, It will be in what I think (but then I am biass;-)  ) is the brightest T-6 scheme there is!

i reckon tape belts are ok, and much easier to position nicely than stiff pe belts. i did the same in one of my cars and was pleased with the way they looked.

A few guys are making good progress it seems. I have made a little progress on the Stampe, it is a tricky kit with rather foor fit and a few of the parts seem to be "short shots"

Basically the fuse is together , the tail is on and the bottom wing (single piece with lots of sinkmarks) is on.

I will post a pic today.

Very nice progress, guys!

Theuns: I had the same problem a few days ago...

I ordered 2 Tamiya Thunderbolts today. I have no Idea when they are going to arrive here though. I need 2 kits for my Doublebolt because I have to rob the canopy and the cockpit from one of them (I'll replace them with AM parts when I build it) The price on those Tamiya Jugs is kinda high (45€), so I ordered them at Hobbylink japan for 17€ each. They are temporarily out of stock though, so I have to wait a bit untill they get new ones...

Wow that is a rather large saving if buying in "bulk" lol.

I will try PB again tomorrow.

I was at my local HS today again looking for a better model to build for this GB, but still nothing, so it seems I am stuck with my entry for now.....

Howdy FSM, just wanted to say thanks for looking and thanks to taxtp for the kudos!

Hey Theuns, you were asking what I used for the buckles on my belts.  I found some soft "jewelry wire" (beading wire) at the local craft store.  It comes in different guages and colors, and is pretty cheap.  I just wrap it around either a piece of plastic stock or a tool, depending on the shape I want.  It's fairly simple to do, just a little time consuming.  Oh, and for the belts, I just cut super-thin pieces of Tamiya tape and left 'em in their original color.

Anyway, feel free to share your thoughts or ask your questions.  School's back in session so I'm not sure when I'll get back to the bench.  Hopefully I'll be able to post more progress soon.

Cheers,

-O

Hey O, I wonder how you teachers cope with all the kids LOL!

We sent our eldest to grade 1 (primary school) last week for the first time and it looks like a madhouse of kids!!

We were lucky to get her into a good school, but here in South Africa you need to pay through your ears for that "right"

The no fee public schools here do not cater for our mother tounge education of good standards, so the only option is "semi state funded" schools.

I tried again with PB but still out of order, it just does not take my passwords.

Ortiz, yes the cockpit looks right on, those extra touches you added really help to bring it up to today's detail standards.

regards,

Jack

It seems my PB account is now totally screwed up and can not be recovered, nor can I make a new one with the email adres that I have and is already on their system.

Please keep posting till I get this sorted out with them.

Thanx
