Hey MC, would love to have you, if you don't finish in time you can always roll over the kit into Japanese Group Buiild IV next year.

I'll go put you down now.

I'll finish no problem.  In fact I'll upload some pics tonight.  I also have a Japanese mobile artillery piece coming from Tower Hobbies which will go perfect for the next Japanese GB.

Here is what I got done today. I'm going to have to put it aside for the moment though. I ordered a Eureka XXL metal barrel and tow cable AM kit. The kits tow cable was so terrible I just had to. Everything else on the kit is very nice, very detailed.

That's a great kit, I have a half-assembled one lying around somewhere. Stikpusher built one for the last Japanese GB, you should be able to find it over on the armour forum if you want to see it.

Yep, saw it. SP does a great job on whatever he builds. Rick did a sweet job on one too. I only hope I can achieve a fraction of their expertise with my build.

Sounds pretty cool Bsyamato, as I said to Model Crazy I'll probably be running a Japanese GB IV if there's enough interest. If you want to start the Kate late this year and finish her in that it's fine.

Would definitely be interested in another Japanese GB. I have a lot of Japanese kits to choose from.

MC: Thanks, I'll toss out a feeler to see how much interest is there sometime around the middle of November.

Bsyamato: Sounds good!

TYPE 82 plan B. the armor screens can't be closed w/o cutting the hinges off. had to repair bottom frame of front windshield and lost a couple of PE wipers so i made something from stryene that looks good enough painted black. got the upper hull on lower hull. may have to nose this one into a crater which was already a plan for a vignette.

TYPE 61 is basecoated. JGSDF GREEN is kinda blah as is the BROWN.  working on the road wheels now.

went  to GREAT SAND DUNES in Colorado for 2 days. hiked up to the top of the star dune Monday morning and we hiked to a waterfall in the afternoon before heading home. got some good pics AND typical modeler also took close up shots of different color rocks, mud, different sand textures and assorted non holiday photos for my base building efforts.

I'll be in for Japanese Pt. IV

A bit of progress on I-19 over the past few days. Fist I painted the wood parts of the deck with Humbrol Oak

and then today I added a black wash of Testors pre mixed acrylic wash over the wood deck areas

I still need to do another coat or two on the wood decks to darken it up some more.

and thank you for the kind words about my builds Embarrassed

the washes really sharpened the deck.

was working on roadwheels and dropped one in the rug. an hour later still haven't found it. plan A is to keep looking, plan B  is have my friend cast one. plan C is minefield. plan D is wait for aoshima JGSDF tank transporter with TYPE 74 and load damaged TYPE 61. plan E is doing a bas eand hiding the missing roadwheel behind something. at least i can silly putty and camo everything  and, with luck, i will find it.

Thanks Wayne. The flash from the camera makes them look far more translucent than to the Mk.I eyeball. The wash is quite a bit darker under lamps and daylight. I figure one or at most two more coats will give a moderately weathered look that I want.

SP: Again, looks good! The stain on the decks is working great, the second should do the trick.

Wayne: Very cool photos, kinda desolate for me but beautiful. And hope you find that missing road wheel, been there about a zillion times.

Well the next coat on the decks is drying now. We shall see how it came out... I am thinking just one more...

Here's my Chi Ha so far, I'm just waiting for the AM cannon and tow cable to finish and install the tank commander, tracks, weathering and putting it in the diorama.

Thanks guys,

I wasn't sure how this intricate paint scheme was going to turn out, but I'm ok with it. I think I'm getting better with every build.

Hey Gamera,

Is it too late to sign up for this GB??  If not, I'd like to get on board with an Airfix Zero and Val; both in 1/72nd scale.  They would be crossovers from the Pearl Harbor GB and the Pacific Carrier GBs....

Thanks,

TAD

Hey Dave, you're more than welcome. Unless something happens I'll be running a Japanese GB IV so if you don't finish in this one you can 'roll over' your model(s) into it.

Gamera, I am finding it next to impossible to find AM decals for my N1K1 (lots for the N1K2 though) without having to pay twice what I paid for the kit its self. I picked up the Tamiya F1M Pete this weekend instead. I know I never do anything outside of 1/48, but 1/50th is close enough to get on my bench.

AJD: Ouch, so do you want me to swap those out or would you like to keep the N1K1 up in case you do find some decals for her?

Finished the Type 97 Chi Ha. It is depicted hull defilade in a crater waiting for something to happen.

As usual, feedback and comments are welcome. Steve
