Phil: Pretty darn cool! Good job on the Hotchkiss and the dio doesn't look too shabby either!

BTW: I finally finished and took photos this afternoon. And now the cable to connect the camera to the PC has vanished... (sigh)...

Well, here are the photos to prove that I am indeed finished! Sorry about the quality, by the time I get home there's not much natural light left and though my Droid phone takes higher resolution photos than my ten year old camera the camera has a tripod unlike my shaky hands with the phone. Still can't find the friggin' USB cable...

I'm going to try to get some better quality photos later- just making sure I meet the deadline here.

Hey Phil, thanks! I'm going to try to get some better photos up Sunday- issue is it's March the 1st, too bad this isn't leap year!

The figure was standing on top of the grass so last night I did pull him off and grind out two footprints for him to stand in.

Phil - great looking!  Good choice on the figure, and great first diorama!

Gamera - looks great, even with the camera issues.  I love the camo.  And again, another tiny tank.  I'm not sure I'd feel much safer in that...

I hope everyone is closing in on the finish line...not much time left!

Hey Chuck thanks!

Yeah, tiny vehicle only six tons weight and 6-15mm armour. I haven't seen any reports of these Chinese tanks seeing any service but they were used by the Soviets to great effect against Japanese troops with very poor anti-tank defenses in the Battle of Kalkin Gol/Nomonanh. Against the Wehrmacht they were practically worthless, having basically the same gun and armour as the BT-5/7 series but being far slower and less agile.

Gamera-nice job-very nice build-great camo work

Spent some time on the T34-some washes (light green pin followed by a white overall) and started on the treads,  Hopefully I'll be able to get the treads finished and on by close of tomorrow.  Backup plan is a set of vinyl Tamiya treads in a stash kit-last resort though.

GMorrison-very nice Su-152-subtle but effective weathering-base & figures add a lot.

Although I would like to do some more weathering & detailing, time is running out and I'm still unpacking supplies,

Here's the target:

I've enjoyed following everyone's builds and have been inspired by them-

Tim & Arron-thank you again for hosting a great themed GB-looking forward to seeing what's next.

Nice work everyone. The BM-21 turned into quite the chore but i didn't want to rush it and screw it up so i will continue work on it.

Wow, look who showed up for dinner!

Nice tank!  But we need pictures of the suffering it took to get it to look this good.

Phil, really nice build and very glad you went for the figure.

gamera, great looking build. Really nice work on the scheme.

GM, nice looking beast there, and looks like you found the perfect spot for the photo's.

Bob, great work on the T-34. I think you have captured the look perfectly and would not touch a thing on it.

I am a Norfolk man and i glory in being so

Guys, great set of final completions!

Gamera - a fine example of this light tank, really like the camou scheme.  Equally worthy is the base and figure to complement the main subject. Yes

GM - pleasing job on this one, and given the time setting, the finish of the vehicle is very appropriate.  The Egyptian flag colours really sets this one apart.Yes

Bob - cracking job on the T-34.  Looks to be set in the dead of winter - very successful I'd say.Yes

regards,

Jack

GM & Bob: Those both came out great! Kudos guys!!!

Wayne: I hope you go ahead and finish her- I'd like to see how she turns out.

And thanks folks for the compliments on mine- I did take more photos today but it was overcast and I think they look even worse than the ones I posted. I'm going to try to get a friend to take some high quality photos for the magazine the next time we have an IMPS meeting not snowed out.

So do the mods, i.e. our buddies Aaron and Tim; come around anymore?

Did I miss an announcement somewhere?

I'm guessing they are not planning an article this time...

It's all a conspiracy, GM!

Seems like the real world has intruded for Tim and Aaron, I miss them.  But then, it is the "Orphaned" Armor Group Build!

Guys,

The real world did intrude and means that neither of us finished our builds. Congrats to everyone who did hit the completion date; the models look fantastic. I think I got everyone into the hall of fame. If we missed anyone, let me know.

Cheers, Aaron

i;d like to see everybody finish, too

Gamera - i intend to finish and have a cool base. picked up some cheap disposable pie plates. i can add a layer of water, set it in a fry pan, put it on a burner and heat things up without destroying one of my fry pans. then i can flatten the tires. good thing it's a libyan rebel paint job over a libyan army paint job over a russian paint job .

Hey, Deattilio - I went back to the Hall of Fame to lament not seeing Aaron's and Tim's stuff, and I realized I somehow missed you finishing your amphtrac.  It looks great!  nicely done.

And thanks everyone, I learned a lot from this Group Build - and I have a new appreciation for all you "target" builders out there.  I now say that with a lot more respect (from a modeling standpoint, I hasten to point out - always the profoundest respect to those tankers in the "real world").  Thanks for helping an airplane guy learn some new tricks!

Gentlemen!

I apologize profusely for not being able to participate more in this, mine and Aaron's, group build. I admit before all that I suck.

However, I WILL finish my Matilda. I am dedicated to that cause, although my workshop at home looks like a smoking crater because I have a new baby on the way and we're finishing the basement in order to move my office down there.

In the meantime, I want you to know that Aaron and I are getting the artwork together for the SUPER AWESOME steins we talked about at the beginning of the group build. That seems like such a long time ago.

Also, everyone who finished, expect a PM from us in the next hour or so. Veterans of FSM group builds know what this means.

Thanks to all of you who participated in this GB. You guys kept going, even though Aaron and I disappeared on you, and created stunning models. There's lot in this GB to be proud of, and plenty of info for the community as a whole to learn from. Great work!

Later,

Tim
