I had to replace the thin plastic cleats on the boom with the pieces of brass, then a little work on the tracks for the M88. 

OK , I am calling this done.

Painted in the colors of the 354th TFS Vietnam.

I will see how next year looks, I still have a very nice 1/48 Hasa Schooter with decals fr a training Sqn that trained pilots for Vietnam that might work, stay tuned.

Very cool MAC. Your rock detail is phenomenal..well done

MAC - a very nice idea for the dio, but I have my doubts. First thing, I heard the tunnels were very cramped. The cavities on your dio look very spacious, I'm not so sure about that. And how come the colour of the surface doesn't transfer underneath? But thanks a lot for sharing, and have a nice day

If I made the tunnels cramped you wouldn't see what i was trying to portray. The smaller tunnels sometimes led to larger spaces Where there would be a medical  station, Food and weapon staches The under ground is always darker than the top soil I hope I answered your questions

Finally got some work started on my B-52D.  Even though this is only 1/200 it is proving a bugger of a kit.  The bomb bay / wheel wells were wider than the fuselage, the intakes wider than the nacelles, tail gun wider than the fuselage and cockpit is wider than the fuselage.  There has been much sanding.  The wings were also horribly warped and required a lot of tweaking with hot water before I finally arrived at a warp I can live with.  Since I had a “G” in the stash I decided to build it at the same time.  The pieces for the “G” fit much better but the warp in the wings is same as in the “D” boxing.

Bish, plasticjunkie - thanks a lot!

Funny thing - many finished builds and then four days with no post at all! Time to change that.

Our host gave me thumbs up to go on here with the Whale, so that's what I'm going to do. So far I've got the hull closed up and now I'm working on the wings (that will have opened slats and flaps as always seen on parked aircraft) and to wrap up everything to start painting.

And my Whale will be painted in the colours of VAQ-131 operating from the USS Kitty Hawk off the coast of Vietnam in 1969.

Here's the cockpit:

I've also put together the engines and they will have to be completly painted before attaching them to the wings. I also had to cut off the rear portions of the pylons to show the flaps down:

Recently I glued the wings to the fuselage and filled and sanded the joint. Now it looks like on the photo below:

You can also see the separate flap and slat here.

Today I started working on the main gear bay and detailed it with some styrene sheet and thin copper wire. Still a lot to add, but now it looks like that:

Excellent details in your  A-3 office. Amazing how much detail a little wire will add to a wheel bay.

Nice work there Pawel. But you will have to enlighten me. Which aircraft is this, never heard the term Whale.

The A-3 was one of the largest aircraft ever to be operated and based upon an aircraft carrier. Due to its' size, it received the nickname of "whale"...

Pavel, that flight deck looks very sweet! and beautiful add ons into the wheel wells!

PJ, sorry, missed your mention of the A-3.

Another big ship borne one  was the A5 Vigilante. There's one as a gate guardian near my house. At 77ft long and a wingspan of 53 ft, it was quite large.

Stik already did all the explaining before I could - thanks a lot! Let me just say the exact variant I'm doing is the EKA-3B, which has no attack capabilities at all, but was a very valuable dual role tanker/jammer. Makes sense, such aircraft escorts the alpha strike all the way from the carrier to the target and back.

Bish - the A-5 is on my "to do" list... It was designed as the replacement for the A-3 in the attack role, but ended up as the most capable photo recon plane the navy ever had.

Bob - I hope to do some more work soon, as I have a short break from work. I would like to finish this one and move on to some ground equipment to balance this GB better :D

Sorry it took so long to get this to you.  As I was going through my stash over the holidays, I saw this little beauty and thought it would be perfect for the GB.  Just got started on it.  Seeing major fit issues, but we shall adapt and overcome!  Here are a couple of start up pics.

All this reminds me of a cartoon from the Falklands war.

And speaking of the A-5, now we have one. Nice to see it started Eagle.  

pawel, I just checked scale mates and while I could not find that exact boxing, the kit originates in the 1960's with these boxing's being from the 70's. And from the looks of it, the kit has never been updated, even those from the 80's only have a new box and decals.

I remember building the Minicraft USA boxing of that RA-5C  kit sometime in the late 70s or so...
