Hey Wayne! I'm glad to hear that my favorite scale has helped you improve so much. Way to go! I doubt that I'll be able to finish my Topol in time though, but I'll still try. ,

Wayne:

is it too late to sign up?  I've been wanting to do a Hurricane (flown by "Cobber" Kain) for a while; got decals and stuff for it.

It's the old Airfix molding (not the new one) and is so simple, a monkey and two trainees could build it.  Should be able to finish it before 31 December; it probably doesn't have more than about twenty parts.

welcome. you can join right up until the ball drops MST. anything in progress with pics will count even if it isn't finished.

still some builds going on here. i have 2 more primed and one for the 48 hr build. i haven't posted all of my builds but this has really got me into 1/72. with getting out of slump and new year i have a couple of BIG 1/35 railroad builds so a 1/72 will be a good break. i am still surprised my ww1 tank has won as much as it has. must be doing something right. i was awarded most improved modeler 2014 in my col spgs club.

only a couple of weeks left on this one.

Willys Jeep almost done.  Will leave off the delicate parts until I return home.  Next is the Kubelwagen.

nice. i have that set. needed KUBELWAGEN to park next to DORA to show the size. i am officially insane. just picked an aoshima JGSDF  fuel bowser to try out the kits before getting the tank transporter and patriot 3. oh and dragon is coming out out with an atomic cannon.  thought the scales got bigger as you got older. will knock out an LAV for USMC GB and still have my second SS-25 to do.

Looks great Theuns!! I struggled with doing that paint scheme on my Hurri. I opted to do the Belgian version though. That looks excellent and striking. I may get that plane again to do that scheme.

Hey Braille Scale buddies!  I'm back with another entry!

Well, to be honest, there's a reason why I'm doing this.  I'm currently in Idaho Falls on a work project for a couple of weeks and I'm out of things to do after work.  Its too dark to hunt or fish, so instead of just watching TV in the hotel room I figured I'd find a small kit and build it while I'm here!  So I stopped by the local Hobbytown and picked up this kit:

It was the ONLY 1/72 armor kit in the store.  Oh, there were other 1/72 kits, like planes and such, but with this kit I can just tuck everything back in the box and it will fit in my luggage for the flight back home!  Plus its a 3 in 1 kit!!  Also picked some glue, hobby knife and sanding sticks.....can always use these back home!

I'll post some assembly pics tomorow night!

Thank you jibber.

Building a kit from your stash is like cutting a head off a Hydra, two more take it's place.

MC you should be proud of that Fiat, it looks fantastic. I keep looking it over and its hard to believe its a Braille. I especially like the symmetry and the cabling, just perfect. Nice camo too on that little guerriero (warrior).

Wow - lots has happened here!!!

Apologies all, life has been getting in the way of my bench time, with work being the main culprit. Fortunately, the weather is warming up here Down Under, so fishing is the second culprit on the weekends for chewing up my time.

Wayne - great tank. I agree about the need for metal tubing when using rubber band tracks.

Modelcrazy - that Fiat seemed to fall together for you. Excellent work! The camo schemes is very nice, especially given the size.

Unfortunately my Tony hasn't been touched in the past 6 weeks or so, but hope to make a push this weekend to try and wrap up by the following week.

Keep up the great work everybody.

Fingers crossed i can start spending a bit more time in this forum

Chris

As for Oddball models; how does a Budweiser Beer Wagon with Clydesdale's sound for that?

i have 3 1/35 CENTAUROs and they just look mean. ok that's oddball. i have the 1/200 wheeled buck loader which would be 2-3 workstations worth of build.

Wayne, I've been wanting that Boxer myself. I'm hoping to get it soon. as for modern Italian; the only one is the C-1 Ariete tank put out by Trumpeter. No Centauro so far in plastic; I've been waiting for that as well.

Wayne, I've found a really unusual subject, I'll just be waiting for you guys to pull the trigger on the GB

won't be before next year. all of us have too much to finish. but it will be fun. we will post a feeler very early 2015.

i have been trying to figure out how to do a GB with oddball kits, not quite prototypes but one of a kind builds that would span ALL categories and interest. i have a few that would fit too.

Thanks for the input on the Topol. I am actually planning launch mode and so that's why I used the parts I did for the suspension. I am also being very careful with that front part too. I did kind of wonder why it was put on so early...

in launch mode the launcher has to be but on early but the hydraulic arm is connected so it can fold down. the are 3 thin horizontal braces above the axles in the back. if you don't  tape the hydraulic arm to the launcher AND put some tape over the frame to keep this from bouncing up and down eventually you will break one or 2 of them.

just picked up the GTK BOXER GTFz A1. are there any modern italian 1/72 armor kits, specifically a CENTAURO?

That was after having ripped apart most of my assemblies and having to rebuild them to the proper assemblies. By this time, I was too fed up with this to go on, so I moved on.

yes and after you put the tires on no one will see any of it. looks like you are at the point of deciding launch or road mode. let me know i have a tip or two. and be careful with the front piece which is the back of the cab so you don't break it. i didn't break mine but the next time i won't put it on that early.

oh and i blame you, my friend matt, and REVELL for getting me into 1/72 so there.......

I'll happily take that blame! I think that 1/72 scale is the best myself! After all, I've completed 659 armor models in thisa scale already, and have another five on the go.

Thanks for the input on the Topol. I am actually planning launch mode and so that's why I used the parts I did for the suspension. I am also being very careful with that front part too. I did kind of wonder why it was put on so early...

Keep me posted as well for the "unusual" Group Build you have planned next year.

Modelcrazy, I'd say you do have an award-winning model min the works there. The scribing you've done looks so extremely professional. I am watching that bird with interest.

Thanks Duke and Rob, I am very pleased with it. I'm sure it wouldn't win any prizes like other builders but I think it s one of my best.

And Rob, I like unusual subjects. I don't get the opportunity to do a lot of them.

hey MODELCRAZY that looked like a fun little build. if it's one of your best than price winning or not it means you are improving. you're updated in the roster.

i too like unusual subjects which is why i build modern warwheels. stick around .JIBBER and i are discussing an unusual GB for early 2015.
