So, before I start my final round of weathering, decals needed to be added. Applied a good coat of Future as soon as I got home last night. Buffed it out & gave it another (thinned with alcohol) coat right after supper. Let that cure up, buffed again, then DECALS were applied, started around 1030-ish?

Decals printed by TECHMOD - approved! Kinda shiny, but, they ARE going down over a shiny coat of Future. Didn't hit them with any decal solvents as the Future was so fresh. I'll take a look tonight, see if they need anything.

Speaking of fiddly bits, I got all of the access hatches mounted and finished...was a bit of a challenge, AND, she's quite delicate...I dare say, I'll not get through this build without knocking a few off several times!! That said, here she is so far:

Did some basic washing inside the panes. I assume that the Czech AF would have a pristine EXTERIOR, but, would still have wear and basic grime behind closed doors:

WIDE open doors!!

A bit of a closeup of the engine compartment:

Gonna keep at it tonight. Wheels are painted and just need to be mounted and I'm going to decant some Testors Dull coat spraycan paint into a cup and airbrush the entire thing to seal everything. More updates later, thanks for lookin'!!

Looking Awesome Vance.

Rob, Great looking Hind. those open panels make everything look great.

Okay here is some update photos. After the masking job from hell and several mistakes on my pare an d my airbrush messing up. I finally got to this point. Just a few touch-ups and then a coat of Future then the decals.

'Masking job from Hell'...Love it Doug!! Wicked looking 3 colour scheme. More than two colours is always a challenge...from hell, LOL. Keep up the good work!!

'I', on the other hand, AM NOT enjoying my build. This Hind is turning into a mess. I knocked off YET another door...repaired...Angry....AND, after I pulled off the masking and used GooGone (which I used at least 100 times, left the glass CLOUDY on ALL glass!! Frustrating..dunno what the heck happened there...Just gonna muscle through this one and get it done, but, I'm not happy at all!!

Rob, do you think Future can help, other wise I used Meguires PlastX to clear up that foggy canopy on my V-22.

Dude, keep pluggin, you'll get it.

A bit more progress tonight. Spent way too much time boring out the tubes for the S-5 rocket pods, but, I couldn't keep them as solid cylinders:

Rocket pods, UPK-23 gun pod and twin AT-6 launchers. Also, the all glass parts unmasked (problems mentioned earlier) and doors propped open:

You can see how cloudy the right most window is Angry:

All for tonight. Hope to get to the rotors this weekend, sometime. This should be done soon then on to the Mustang GB for me (after shopping tomorrow for a new kit!!)

Rob, that beast looks like it's ready to bring the pain. It looks awesome despite the foggy canopy window.  You might want to try that Plast X or something similar.  You can always use it on your car's headlights when you're done.

Keep up the pace Doug!

A few more disasters to report on the Hind from hell build. Broke off the front gun minutes after install...had to friggin repair that!! Angry dropped 4 small rotor pieces in "the interstellar black hole vortex floor" and only recovered 2 Angry

On a positive note..ALL construction is complete and all empty spruce trees are discarded. Got both rotors painted aluminum. Interestingly, the Hind's main rotor is OD/alum on top and grey/alum/yellow underneath, so, there's a big masking job coming up before the big finish Crying

Thanks Rob and modelcrazy.

Rob LOL! I know the feeling. I kept breaking off one of the stabilizers and a wheel well hatch. Drove me nuts. Good luck in getting the rotors painted. Maybe the next build will go smoother for the both of us.

I hope so!! Just a simple Mustang build. Here's my fight with the main gun...I won (so far):

Bored out a hole with the pinvice on the back of the gun barrel:

Bored a hole in the receiving side of the gun mechanism on the helo:

Stretched some spue to make a 'pin':

Pin installed in barrel of gun:

Et, voila....strong repair...took an hour of build time away, but, it'll last, I hope:

There's whole lot of goodness going on here!  Finally getting caught back up on emails and getting the urge to get back to the table.  For Rob and all the Hind builders http://public.fotki.com/lewbud/helicopters/mi-24-hind-1/   If you get to wondering about the rotor head on White 122, the trucker who was bringing it in didn't pay attention to the bridge height and lost.  Hope these help.  These were taken at the Cold War Air Museum in Lancaster, TX.  They have two Hinds flying, some Mi-2's, L-39's, and some Sukoi prop trainers flying as well.  I have more pics, but unfortunately they are on a hard drive that is unaccessable at the moment.
