GROUND ATTACK GB

Here is the basic airframe of my Impala Mk2. The cockpit will still need allot of work to make it look semi decent.

Bloody fantastic plastic!! I love the Jolly Rogers livery! The subtle weathering is amazingly effective and what a great weapons load. Very cool....well done....

Here is my completed old  Monogram 1/72 F-4J in VF-84 markings. Quite a very nice kit. No fit issues and the details were just amazing including  full cockpit and wheel wells details. Decals are from Vagabond. the stand is from Airfix.

How about starting a new wall for the finished entries and pasting the two completed ones to it?

That's looking good PJ, too bad we can't put it on the wall when your done.

More progress. The decals I used are from Vagabond Yankee Air Pirates series. These are awesome decals that go on nice and easy.

Got both TERs loaded up and ready to be attached.

Now I need to stripe up the Sparrows and attach them to the Phantom's belly.

I also assembled the Airfix clear stand and shot it with Floquil Old Silver. It looks like a metal stand!

Next pictures will be of the completed build.

Thanks guys. This one will only have a CL tank, two TERs with 3 Mk. 82's each and the usual compliment of Sparrows and Sidewinders AA missiles.

I just finished with the main colors blended out over the pre shading. It takes an xtra fine AB tip, and low psi to get things looking good. Next will be masking for the NMF areas.

As many know here, I'm a big fan of a fat load on a Phantom!! Load 'er up!!

That's a smokin looking build. I love an F-4 all weathered up and loaded out.

More progress on the little guy. The Sparrows had mold release marks on the visible side so all holes were filed with Perfect Plastic Putty and sanded smooth.

I shot the interior of the intakes white then shot the base in black fading outward. Once assembled it gives the illusion of trunking.

Yep, some 1/72 stuff is just too good to pass up............but I just went to my local Hobby Lobby to see what they had and I just happened to grab the new Revell 1/32 F-4G that looks like a beauty. The box is HUGE and so must be the kit but couldn't pass it up for $35 out the door with the 40% coupon.

Hey, PJ, we are with ya' here brutha!! Yup, no 'overseer' here, lol. Too bad we never got any 'closure' as to where Matt went, but, we are keepin' it going and checking in regularly! Great start to the Phantom and, as an exclusive 1/72 guy, the kits keep getting better and better in this scale!

Thanks for your reply. No problems with the doors with this 1/72 kit. It is going together very well. I forgot to photograph the IPs which came out really nice. I just recently started building 1/72 scales and some are as detailed as their bigger brothers.

I have a Hasegawa 1/72 F-14D that is just freaking unbelievably  detailed as the 1/48 scale one. I plan to do that one with the Catapult section ready to launch  as a dio. I'm still gathering things for it.

Was the 105 you built a 1/72 scale? I have the old Monogram 1/48 Thud and is a really nice kit, even for it's age.

The GB is being run by "We the people". We really don't have any way to update the roster, however there are several of us who check in frequently and will be here for/ with you.

I built the "Tour of Duty" F-105 for the Century Series GB and it was a fairly decent kit, with the exception that, as you are aware of from the Mustang you just completed, Monogram likes to mold their kits with the doors open. Closing them is a real problem.

Nice start on the F-4, and the pit looks great! I have a Hase 1/72 F-4 that I just can't get any gumption to start yet.

Sorry gents for loosing touch with the GB but things got complicated with my kids visiting and the wife and I having to travel to a couple of places.

I don't know who is running the GB since the last time but please update my info as I somehow jumped into a 1/72 old Monogram F-4J and set aside the 1/48 one I was working on.

This will be an in-flight display so all the doors were closed, including the auxiliary intake doors on the belly

The Mk. 82's were painted and just getting started on the pilots that are from Tamiya. I had to cut off their feet above the ankles to make them fit into the seats. The feet are not visible so not an issue here

The fuselage was sealed up and the top wing parts attached

This 1/72 F-4 is a little brother to the 1/48 one and the details and fit are very good.

Yeah, Vance, I've also thought the Razorback looked more aggressive than the bubbletop.

lol, "Origin of the T-bolt" ??  Y'know, I've never built a P47. Not wild about the bubbletop at all, but the razorback is a possibility, would also match up well with these Reggiane & Seversky machines.  I'll have to keep my eyes open for one.
