5-high, I certainly appreciate the high praise. This is a Pacific mustang and in turn I was aiming for a beach scene. im trying to depict some darker wet sand and some of the whiter sun bleached coarse coral sand that's less disturbed. Do you think I need something more to distinguish it?

WOW..BRITT ...WOW..THATS A OUT STANDING MUSTANG !!!...just freeken love it !!!..the snow ..the weathering is just right on . Im in the last stages of finely finnishing my mustang B. I feel bad about not finnishing in time . But as soon as i get back to my home .i too wish to drop a load of picks for all . Again britt ....just outstanding work .

Well, it's certainly taken me long enough but I did manage to close the book on these two. Can't rush a good thing I suppose. =] I have my F-6D reconnaissance mustang that William Shomo flew in the PTO complete. The P-51A that JJ England flew is also complete and is just waiting for a block to dress up as a base for it. I have all this posted to the Aircraft section if anyone wants to see more. I thought I would only drop a few pics here of it since the WIP pics are already in this GB. Thanks again Steve.

 I have been involved with the FSM GBs for three years now, it has kept me involved, focussed and entertained. I have been modelling for decades, but with the FSM GBs have finally got to the stage of entering our local competition. Not expecting to win anything, but just to increase my involvement...

Anyway, my Mustang from this GB was one of the models I entered, and it got me a third place award, so just wanted to say thanks to you and others who run the GBs, and for everyone involved who keeps it fun interesting and instructive.

Thanks. I'm mostly pleased with it. A bit of a learning curve with trying a new method, but overall I'm happy with it. The chipping was done with the hairspray method. I believe I mentioned it to some degree but I know that was quite a while back. It is a good solid means of accomplishing paint chipping both small and large. I'll take a tiny piece of the open cell foam backings that protect Aftermarket parts to do any chipping at the end of the weathering process. I thin down some Tamiya Flat Aluminum to "chip" with but only sparingly. =]

It turned out really well britt  The weathering looks spot on. You used a pencil for the chipping if I remember correctly?

My lighting in the kitchen isn't the best for pictures. Once I get my set up in the garage put together, I'll be ready to shoot. I plan to tweak some of the weathering a little more and I'm waiting for the antenna to dry completely before adding the radio aerial. But this one is pretty much done. =] The next one I do I plan to open up the cowling to add the Allison engine and I'm thinking I'm going to have to open the canopy as well. I've got a few in front of it before jumping into all of that though.

The F-6D just has a few ends and odds left, but she is also just about done. =]

Good deal, will enjoy seeing those pics.

Thank you TJ. I doubt I'll ever build anything as perfect as his is. He's a joy to have.

5, knock the dust of that mustang and whip her into shape!! =]

Thanks Steve. When I'm done with her, she'll look like she's been through it and back. I need to find another block to display them both. At the moment, I've just got one cut, sanded, and ready to go. I put a danish oil on it to seal it without staining to preserve the natural color of the wood. They're both real close to being done. Just a few odds and ends to button up before attaching all the pitots and radio aerials etc, etc. Almost there!

bvallot its looking good .......ive been out fixing track ..,,,,rail here for 9 months  ..sorry to everyone on this build ..never got a chance to get a minute too the bench ...now im back the mustang has a thick coat of dust ..my exhaust never showed up ..and now with my tale between my legs ..im again waiting for the parts to finish my mustang ll..  to modelcrazzy i wish to say it was great being part of my first gb ..must say its won,t be the last ...you all have give.n me a good look into our hobby .....and i must say this ...the absolute dedication and talent brought forth on this build was fantastic...kudos too all that finished and thoughs who like me ...late in the build ...from my family to all of yours in this beautiful community on finescale modeler......MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR  FROM HIGH 5

Jackie looks like she was in Burma. Take your time, there's plenty of time left.

I know this GB has been over for a while, but I wanted to drop these here as I've just gotten back around to making something happen. Since I'm no longer in a rush, I'm going to take more time to properly weather these two mustangs. Just a few quick photos of progress. I'll post some finished photos next. It'll still be some time before I can get everything in order like I want. I'm putting both of these up on a wooden base just like the P-40B and SBD-2. They ought to look nice when they're finished.  =]
