Halftrack GB feeler
Posted by Bish on Thursday, March 24, 2016 2:53 PM

I first propsed this GB a few years back and got a good response at the time. But due to the hectic GB forum at the time, i decided to postpone it. Now with the GB's haveing calmed a bit and there being no dedicated armour GB for a while, i thought i would give it another go.

So, who is up for a halftrack GB. It would be open to any halftrack, military, civilian, what ifs, Sci Fi or anything else you can think of.

As usual, i will have a no crossovers rule but would encourage doing a seperate WiP thread in the relevant forum as well as in the GB.

If there is enough interest, the GB would run from May 1st for 12 months. I have 3 badge options ready to go, so i hope you guys won't let me down.

I have a 1/72 Sdkfz something I could do.

I have several in the stash and would like to join, however, I have three GB I want to finish first before I commit. One of which is your 1946 GB. When would you decide to start this GB, and how long would it last?

Thnaks for jumping in guys.

Bruce, the GB will last 12 months and kick off on May 1st. I have a couple of builds to finish first as well, including my E-100 for the 46 GB. But there will be plenty of time.

I apologize, Bish, I did not fully read your first post on when this GB would start and how long it will last.

I'm in, I'll let you know what I'm building soon. Thanks!

Hunter,

Which kit is that? I built the 1/72 Revell of Germany (ROG) kit a few months back. Great little kit with loads of detail.

Bish, it looks like I have the 1/72 ESCI sd.kfz. 250/3. It's the only halftrack I have. Embarrassed

Steve, if its what you have, then its what you have. I used to like those Esci 72nd kits, i think i still have a couple some where.

I think Hunters kit is the Trumpeter 35th kit, we were chatting about this in PM.

Bruce, no worries, it will be great to have you on board. And same to you Hunter, looking forward to that one.

I think I will give this a go. I have never did a group build before. I have a cyber Hobby orange box 250/1 that would work.

Bish....my hero!  Well, you know my situation here, but with it being a year....I think I can make it.  Won't be able to start until July/August, but if I'm going to get back into the swing of things....couldn't think of a better GB to do it with!   Now, do you remember if I have a half track!?  LOL!

Guys, will be a pleasure to have you on board.

Robert, that 250 will do fine. Look forward to seeing that, i have a couple of Dragon 250 vaiants in the stash, so will be keen to see how they build.

Eagle, will be nice to see you building. I am sure you have one in there some where.

Bish,

Here is my entry:

1/35 Dragon Sd.Kfz. 7/2 3.7cm Flak 37 with Armored Cab

Looks like we have interest, so, this will be a fun GB.

And it's very good to see Eagle90 back in the GB fun!

Nice, i'll be looking forward to that alongside Hunters build. I still don't have any of these half track Flak vehicles, so i'll be interested to see how they both build.

Hi Bish,  I've a trio of German half tracks from Dragon, along with one from AFV Club, all in 1/35 scale.  If this one goes ahead, don't see myself joining until last quarter of the year.

regards,

Jack

No worries Jack, much better to have the builds spread out. I've got a few Dragon and AFV 251 halftracks myself, both seem to have some clean up issues, but build up really nice.

It seems like we have enough interest here already, so i think we can call this a goer.

Hello Steve,

Mr. Bish is correct with his reply...it's a 1/35 Trumpeter. We have had acouple PM's about half tracks and how much we like the "251". So I started doing a little checking and research and found this kit....and said ooooh yeah that's the one.

Hunter, I look forward to your build a well. I like the 250/251's but wanted to do something a bit different!

Good to hear this GB has a green light!

Not sure if you guys are like me, but everytime I open a new kit, I feel like a kid again!

Bruce, I absolutely feel like a kid with every new kit. My sister and brother in-law sent me a "Birthday Box" with 6 kits in it. I am still fighting the urge not to open them(lol).

I hear ur Bruce. Only differance is, i am a kid. A damn big one Big Smile.

I am loking forward to this because as well as cutting further into my 251 stash, i have an excuse to do the Panzerwerfer 42 that i think has been in my stash longer than any other kit. I must have had this about 20 years, not long after it was released in 94.

Hey Bish.  This sounds like a fun one.  I'm in with an Sdkfz something or other.  I haven't built an armored anything in decades but I'll give it a go!  Time to start watching the sales.
