Thanks Gam..I've never really had too many issues with Academy. Maybe the older stuff, but, I've always been happy with them.

Look good Rob. Don't see Academy mentioned that often as one of the great modeling companies but I've rarely been disappointed in one of their products.

Got a good start on the CF-18. It will be a quick build as she can't be weathered as she was painted for public display. Nice, typical Academy quality, so, I don't suspect any building woes.

That's if for now. I suspect this will go quickly. I can't weather it as it's supposed to be pristine for public display and she's fresh painted. I saw her in Ottawa and she was super clean and shiny.

Brandon, could you please amend my entry? I'm going to shelve the MiG in favour of a Canadian CF-18 in the Battle of Britain commemorative scheme as I want to get this one on the go and I'll hit the MiG later this summer.

I was saving this for another build that seems stalled, so, I wanna giver 'er a go.

Holy cow B_One !! That is one seriously nice looking F-14. That has to be one of the nicest ones I've seen done here, and that's saying something.  Supergreat work on that kit. Kudos for being #1 out of the gate and to the finish line.

B1,

Fantastic job! I really like the paint scheme (I have the same CAM decal set, just for this scheme) and the weathering looks great!

Calling this one done. It went by alot quicker than expected. Maybe I will build another kit we shall see.

Revell's 1/48 F-14D converted to an A. Decals are from CAM decals depicting VF-41 in 2001 in thier overall dark gull grey scheme.

thanks everyone for the compliments, I got the paint laid down on the tomcat. This is going alot faster than I thought it would. The scme I picked is a VF-41 bird in 2001 with a unique overall Dark Gull Gray scheme. It really stands out compared to the usual TPS ghost gray tomcats.

Oh wow B-1, that cockpit looks great, if mine comes out a tenth as good I'll be pleased with it.

Rob: Looks like a nice kit, I've come to really like the Trumpeteer stuff.

B1, that pit is looking really sharp. I hope I can do as good of a job when I start my F4. I haven't built any modern kits for 30 years, so I have no experience with the layout or color. Ill have to move carefully.

Rob, I really like the Mig 29 and I cant wait to start mine. I too have some kits that need t be done first however. Looking forward to yours.

Office on that t-cat looks fantastic thus far B-one...way to go!

I am happy to report my MiG 29 has arrived after 6 weeks from China!! Man, 6 weeks. Anyway, the seller did say between 10 and 20th of June. Pretty accurate for ChinaPost. Anyway, I opened 'er up and she's the typical modern Trumpeter quality. Extremely nice kit and I'm looking forward to getting started after I finish up a few things. I expect to get at this one soon.

Put me down for the 1/48 Eduard (Hasegawa) A-4 Skyhawk "Vietnam Scooters." I'll toss in something for a loadout to go along with it.

And if it's going to be such a long one, I'll likely go in with a 1/48 Eduard Mig-21R in Cuban markings and a 1/48 Eduard Mirage III.

Gotcha down Buddy. I too am looking forward to getting some of my newer stuff on display and out of the box.

Seeing the Lear---story told me by our FBO in Quincy (70 miles from Reno) when I was taking lessons back in the late 60's/early 70's.  When Bill Lear was at Stead outside Reno, he flew into Reno one day.  Was #2 behind a Cessna single engine prop.  Controller was twitchy about a jet behind the prop, and told Lear to execute a 360, to get some more spacing.  Bill, knowing he would not run over the Cessna, did a 360 roll.   Controller came unglued and started giving him all kinds of grief.  Bill just told him, I did a 360.....you never said in what direction you wanted it.

True or not, don't know, but is still good for a chuckle with the flying crowd.

Crown: Cool, looking forward to seeing how you paint her. I hate gloss white.

I have the question listed on an F4 forum as well.  Will put up what I find out.  The Squadron booklet wasn't much help with colors as their pit diagrams were in the form of drawings.

***EDIT**

One of the guys over on Phantom Society got back, saying he uses either Dark Gull Grey or Dark Ghost Grey, with flat, gloss and interior blacks for the instruments and control boxes.

I know I am getting old, forgetful, and senility is creeping in at a dead run.  And to top it off, it has been 40+ years, but Tamiyais calling for XF-19 in the office, with the instruments in flat black.

I seem to remember that they were either very dark grey or black, simular to MM aircraft interior black, and most all of the instrument cases were just flat black, some were textured.

Thoughts??

I am certainly not the one to be asking, but I have found that kit color callouts are often times incorrect. Hopefully someone else here can shed some light upon this issue.

Currently re-scribing  the whole kit.

That's a lot of work, but it certainly makes for a better looking model, in my opinion. Good looking office there. Looking forward to seeing this come together.
