Its nice to see something that really 'modern' Mongoose. I can't help thinking that my He 162 is really that modern. Cheers Tony

I'm just taking it one GB at a time.

Ok I'm 10 days into this and I think I'm finally happy with the putty  :mental: Do you ever get that feeling of impending doom when building a model? I think it comes on just before I'm ready to start painting! Here's a top and bottom view for your pleasure. If I don't get to my primer coat tonight it will be Saturday before I'm back on it. back to that feeling of impending doom, I think I'll slow down and wait for Saturday

Guys, lets not worry about finishing this one time and focus on finishing period. I'm now working two jobs and I have no time to build. Any progress now is a win. I'll leave this going as long as it needs to so we can all complete our kits.

Hi Mongoose,

that big fella needs a bit of taming, just as well you're doing it and not me! looking forward to seeing how it progresses.

Gamera,

Don't think I will finish on time either, but it should be this year...

Working my way through the cockpit, we have the observer's IP done, now taking armour plate off before the paint goes on. The bit dangling out the top of the observer's seat (left) is the air conditioning pipe into the seat, which needs to be replaced with guitar string for a better look.

That looks really good, great idea!

No way on earth I'm meeting the end date here. I think the long duration ended up working against me, I got involved in other GBs and kept putting this one off since 'I had plenty of time'... Embarrassed

That kinda scares me a tad on building one of these. But, it looks like you've got it well in hand and are making it work. I'm excited to see the results.

Been staring at this for awhile because thiNgs werent lining up after i assembled the bay doors closed before putting the 2 halves together. Seems the fuselage is so weak it bowed a little doing it this way. Time to start filling seems. Photo 1 is my new favorite tool...it came with a screen protector for my cell phone. Small and really flexible for spreading that squadron putty. At the back side, last photo you’ll see the plasticard I used to make up for my assembly shortfall.

Here’s one of the intakes. It’s also part of the fuselage side which was almost as hard to make flat as it was to slide inside and smooth out these seems

These next 2 are examples of all the putty

The left card is probably 030 and the right one 010. Obviously the body twisted just a little too. All fixable though. Hopefully this helps someone else doing this plane in the future.

Wow Piers, that is an impressive start. Quite a bit of work to do there but this is really cool. I hadn't thought of resculpting the IP in that manner, i actullly like this method. I'll have to add this to my list of tricks.

Hi Bish, This is the old Monogram AH-1S 1/48 kit. I am intending to concentrate on the exterior more than inside, but there is a bit to do in the cockpit. Trying to work out if I can avoid rescribing the whole thing...

Hi Brandon,

Said I would build this and so I got round to it with 5 weeks to go! (So I would be happy with an extension...)

To refresh the memory, this is the USFS Cobra. Started by chopping off the heat suppressing exhaust, to be replaced with a straight pipe.

The IPs are changed for the USFS, obvious change is the LED screens for the video ball and IR cameras. For the pilot's IP I delaminated the panel and cut out a styrene replacement.

I used my vacform sanding sheet to sand the backing off the instruments, then glued them to the panel in the right places. Space is left for the screens in the centre.

So the  panel doesn't look to straight and square blown up like this, but it is much better 1:1...

I'd like to work in my F-111D before the end of the year, but there is no way I can get it done and get the Kingfishers done for F&B's GB as well. I'm too busy for both. We'll watch how things proceed in the coming months. If it is a popular option I may extend these to allow us all to finish our kits. The kits are far more important than any deadline. I'd rather carry on and build the kits that meet some arbitrary deadline. Let me know what you guys think.

Im presently working on an Academy F4B and it goes together very well. Parts fit is very good, just to give you a heads up. This is the third Academy Phantom I build.

Hmm, I see we have about two months left in this one, and I just started the 1/48 Hobby Boss Rafale M, and the 1/48 Academy F-4C.

I'll post pics in a bit. Not sure I can finish in time (certainly not both of them), but maybe if the Rafale plays nice I can get it done, since it's only one color...

Don't sell yourself short my friend. This turned out really quite nice. Given that it's an older kit with minimal details you made it look quite stunning. Nothing to be down about here. I really do like it. Very cool. Thanks for adding it to the GB. I'll update the front page.

Theuns, That masking on all that glass is looking really good. I'm excited to see it complete. It's a cool subject.

Dantheman85, I'll add that one to the roster.

Dan: Ohhhhhh, looks cool! I have a Hasegawa F-15 and the Revell of Germany F-15E but am interested in how that Academy kit will build up.

Theuns: Wow, now that's an epic job of masking!!! Funny the second photo makes me think of a big blue gourd- or maybe a blue guitar with no strings!
