Thanks, I'll throw her up on the SF/Fantasy forum if I ever get her finished.

I've been binge-watching all the Treks myself over the last few months.  Finished TNG and DS9; currently working through Voyager.

Thanks CMK02!

It may just be my eyes but every photo I've seen of the Big-E she always seemed a pale grey with no real greenish tint. I should have took a photo of her in that shade, though I'm not sure it would have photographed well. To my eyes it just looked like a washed-out sun-bleached shade that of ugly '70s colour 'avocado.' Which might make some sense considering when the show was filmed but I still hate that colour...

No idea when she'll be done but I hope to keep plugging along on her. It's funny, I watched bunch of YouTube commenters on the upcoming 'Star Trek: Disaster'... WHOOPS I mean 'Star Trek: Discovery' and despite how horrible it sounds and the fact that I doubt I'll watch any of it unless I do so to see how big a train wreck this is going to be it did pull back my interest in the francise. I bing-watched a couple of 'DS9' episodes on Netflix and got back into 'Star Trek Online' which I hadn't played in months.

Nice results, Gamera.  I think I read that the Smithsonian's repairs of the Enterprise showed she was painted in something grayish-greenish; but I don't know how that would look in real time and space.

I think you did well to go with Light Ghost Gray.

Well, no way on earth that I'm going to meet the end of this group build deadline but I have made some progress here.

Pardon the horrible photo, the lens in my cell phone broke and I'm using my tablet- which simply doesn't take very good photos. I looked around the interwebs and was told to use a slightly greenish-grey Tamiya Japanese Army Grey lightened by about 10% white. I tried it and hated it. So I've went with Light Ghost Grey even though the photo makes it look much more bluish it's a pretty straight grey.

Lol, yeah my eyes are always bigger than my bench!

And the fact that it's hotter than Vulcan out there doesn't help!

Oy. Don't get me started...

I had every intention to knock out all of my Trek models in my stash during this group build.

I should have a new footing after this wekend.

You're not the only one Steve. My 1/1000th Enterprise is just sitting there needing a coat of paint. A little pre-shading, the top coat, gloss, decals, and finish matte and I'm done. Shouldn't take me more than a week and somehow I can't seem to get off my butt and do it. Embarrassed

I've been lurking here from time to time over the past few months and everybody has been diligently working away creating some great results.

I, on the other hand, have been plodding away on a BF-109 that should have been done a month ago. It's summer and stuff and here in the Great White North we don't get enough of it. So, I'm going to kick my butt and wrap up the 109 in the next few days so I can get cracking on the K'tinga. It's going to be lit, which means getting it finished by September 8 might be tricky. Regardless, I'm going to post and get as much done as I can.

My apologies in advance if I don't make the deadline.

Gamera, It sounds like my Romulan again! Except that I messed that up.

I reach, Repriming and re painting sucks.

Falconmod,

Those lights look good for the job. Looking forward to seeing them instaled.

Those look cool. Seems like they could be just the thing for the flickering light that was the reactor on the weapon.

And btw a bit of an apology on my part. I sprayed a couple of primer coats on my Enterprise and I kept getting seams, junk in the paint, runs etc. I'd sand them out and reprime and it would still have issues. So I set her aside and it's been what? Three-four months now!?!? I did pull her back out, sand her down, and reprime last weekend. Gee friggin' whiz I hope this will be the last time. It's not that big a kit, I really want to get the thing done...

I found some cheap electronics that I think will work for the inside of my doomsday machine.   the tea light fades between the color spectrum,  I'm going to put 4 of them in the mouth of it.

Very creative mach71.

Do you have a picture preference for the Wall of Fame?

I baked my F-104 in the oven today!

180F for about 12 min. I then twisted the wings and tail a bit and let it cool.

I put everything together tonight.

I'm thinking it done!

Unless I can figure out anything else to dress it up.

The background is a small canvas painted sky blue and flat white.

I had to epoxy wood strips to the back to attach the mounts for the 2 models.

looking back, I would have done many things different but It looks nice as it is.

Very good, mach!  I'm sure I wouldn't have enough nerve to put anything looking that nice into the oven.  Good luck with it!

Good idea! 200 might be a bit much to start.

Here is where I am now. All model construction, decaling, and sealing is done.

I have a small canvas that I painted sky blue/white.

I have to mount a strip of wood to the back of the canvas to hold the F-104

in place.

You might try starting the oven maybe around 120F or so and carefully bump it up until you see some reaction. Not sure I'd shove her in there 200F right away.

Just my two bits though!

I have other, better, F-104 kits in my stash. I'll experiment with this one.

I'll either go with boiling water or a warm (200F) oven. Unfortunately I changed my plan after I sealed the fuselage and primed it.

I've sealed it with a few coats of Tamiya clear coat. I hope thats enough to keep the decals safe.

Mach71: No idea how to do it without ruining the paint etc. I have seen a few warped from sitting in a hot car for too long. No idea how to replicate this safely without taking a chance of ruining your model.

Only advice I'll give you is a to grab a few cheap poor quality kits and use them as guinea pigs before you take a chance on your finished F-104.

I need some help guys.

I want to subtlety warp the F-104 to look like the tractor beam is bending

the aircraft.

The model is all decaled and today I will seal it in Tamiya semi gloss clear.

I was thinking about using a heat gun, but I don't want to burn the decals.

I was also thinking of setting the oven at 220F and setting the aircraft on 3 bricks

and letting it "sag". But again I don't want to scorch anything.

Any other Ideas?

Thanks

Looking very good Falconmod!

I'm still blown away that you've managed to get lights into

that tiny 1701.
