Looking good, Dasbeav!   If started to distance myself from trying to add too much detail to interiors that will never get seen....

Bossman, the depression my just be a trick of the light, but yes, I do plan on having the bouncing bomb bouncing to its target...

I was able to squeeze in a bit of bench time this evening, while the kids were playing minecraft and the wife was in transit from work to home....

I got all four engine nacelles built and mounted, and some seams smoothed out.   I omitted the actual engine assemblis because the were wreaking havoc and I just couldn't get the nacelles mated together...but no matter, they are not visible anyhow!

That's very good looking, DB.  Nice work.

Good to see you persevering, Toshi.  You're making great progress.

Hi Bish,

It's been a while but I'm done with my damn ship. Not sure if I messed up subscription to this list, but I'll be in for at least two on your GB. The first will be the Tamiya 1/48 Beaufighter. The version I'd prefer is of an RAAF plane - I buy models with some of the money I made writing about festivities in the Southwest Pacific and interviewed aircrew etc in c. 2000. But I can tip my hat to the RAAF in other kits if you'd prefer that I stick to the ETO. (I suppose I could do a SpitV serving in a RAF unit out of Darwin.) Let me know. I'd like to get at least one more in too: maybe an Italeri Sunderland?

Let me know when you've got the time.

Eric

Hi Eric, it doesn't need to stick to the ETO, but does need to be under RAF Command. I know most of the RAAF Squadrons under RAf Command operated out of the UK, but there were several which operated further afield, 1, 8 and 21 Sqn RAAF operated in the far east under RAF command.

I am planning a follow on GB after this one is over which will cover none British subjects, so there will be a cgance to get some RAAF aircraft in that if you wish.

I am rather a fan of all things hannants, Xtradecals included

Bish, I don't do much on-line buying, but I've become a fan of Xtradecals too.  They seem to pay close attention to Airfix's new releases - and they come out with some nice sheets to go with them.   Months ago I was able to pick up a sheet for the newer 1/72 BP Defiant kit.  It has one very interesting scheme for a sea-rescue Defiant that I'm planning to do.  Very unique !

It won't fit in this GB as I'm pretty sure its a Fleet Air Arm bird - but it will certainly fit on my shelf !

Chris

Ye, they do very much follow Airfix releases, which is understandable. I recently got some He 111 and Ju 87 decals which are clearly intended for the new Airfix kits, and dcals for the Royal navy Phantoms are already selling well several months before the Airfix kit is even release.

A FAA Defiant sounds interesting.

Having seen the decal sheet for the GR.9, i can well believe it. Thats one advantage of WW2aircraft.

That is looking very nice, i dolike those older style roundels and interesting how the serial code is reversed on each wing, i had not noticed that before.

Yes, it came with the kit.  It also was uncut.  I used a #11 blade to cut it out.  That's another wrong thing Tamiya has done.  It should have been cut out like a Eduard masks.

Lookin' good guys!

Justin: I know what you mean about black. I've primed kits in black plastic that I'm intending to paint black grey just so I can see if I miss a spot! She's looking good, I'm looking forward to seeing how you're going to mount her on the base with the bomb and dam.

TJ: Wow, hard for me to believe you're already to the decaling stage. Nice work there.

Chris: Looks like a nice set of decals there, she's gonna look cool.

DB: Great job so far on the Walrus. Always cool to see something a little off the beaten path.

Toshi: Sorry, I'm gotten good it seems with offering useless advice. Great job masking off the cockpit. I too wonder at Tamiya's offering masks with the kit but having you cut them out.

Will that also include FAA aircraft?

I also ordered the Freightdog Tornado GR.4/.4A conversion kit Includes two FLIR and one Infra-Red Linescan pods.

The Hasegawa kit does not come with the flair and chaff dispensers normally seen on the 100th anniversary plane's starboard wing, but it does come with an ECM pod for the port wing so I'll just probably leave everything off except for the drop tanks which seem to always be attached.

Thanks for that info Steve. Freightdog used to do a conversion to turn the Revell GR.1 into a GR.4, but thats seems to be OOP. Interesting to know i'll need those other items, seems to have been missing from reviews.

And yes, it will include FAA aircraft. My intention is that once this is over, leave it a few months, and then run a Commonwealth GB for aircraft from all current and former mebers of the Commonwealth from all branches of the forces.

Quick update on my 1:48 Eduard Tiffy.

Little scratched levers mounted, assy waiting for dull coat and some selective gloss. Or not.....

Macros of PE panels look funny.

And some PE ready for a few final touches and then eager to try Stynylrez as a PE primer for the first time.

The PE seat was my first and was sort of interesting.

I'm a page or so behind in replying, but real quick, Toshi, that Mosquito is looking good all sea-greyed up.

Also, I'm surprised that Tamiya's masks are not pre-cut.

Today, I utilized my NEO for Iwata Trigger AB TRN1 for the primer of which was the Tamiya Grey Surface Laquer Primer.  It has a wider pattern in spraying surface plus it's easy on my wrist as it's a trigger brush.

I then went with my NEO for Iwata N4500 Gravity Feed AB.  This AB was used for the Medium Sea Gray Tamiya 2 AS-32.

Then finally, the camoflauge was done with Iwata Eclipse HP-CS.  I tried all of my different Iwata AB to see the differences in weight balance, spray pattern, ease of use, ease of cleaning, and trigger action.  I thought that the Eclipse would out shine all categories mentioned if not more.

Although the Eclipse felt better in my hand and had a more balanced performance, both NEO's not only did their performance well but was not that far behind the Eclipse.  This tells me that Iwata equipment as far as AB are concerned are well made precision equipment.

Below is the outcome of the different Iwata AB.  Which was my favorite?  I have to say that each AB did their performance well for each specific jobs.  I loved them all and would not part with them yet I think in the very near future, I will purchase (With the permission of Mrs. Toshi) one of the high end Microns.  I will say Iwata is my favorite AB.

I have tried the Harder and Steenbeck AB and loved the feel of them but my preference is definitely leaned toward Iwata AB.
