That stinks!  But your definitely better off using aftermarket decals!  I think your paint looks great BTW.

Thank you sir!  Yeah, bit of a bummer with the decals, but like you said, better quality with the aftermarket ones.

That paint job loks god to me Bobby. Bad news about those decals, i hope thats not usual for Tamiya aircraft.

I found this set of Eagle Cal decals with 4 of his aircraft including one A-3.

Well I hit a wall with the 190!  Went to put the decals on after weathering her up and they all just fell apart in the water!  So I'm looking for decals now.  So, the 190 is on hold until I can get some decals with Hans Hahn's 190 A-3.  Had to laugh...2017 has been the WORST year for me and decals!  Stick out tongue

Hey everyone,  some really nice builds going on.  Really enjoying the variaty of planes!

Here she is after painting.  Not overly crazy about it, but maybe after some weathering she will look better.  The Tamiya kit actually came with a page of the camo scheme in the models scale!  So I made a copy of it, cit out the patterns I needed, and used my glass plate and cut tape to the camo shapes.  It worked out well doing that.  The colors on the other hand....I'm trying to match it to Hans Hahn's 190.  Again, this has just been a joy to build!  This Tamiya kit is wonderful.  Thinking about pulling another from the stash.  Whistling

The Eduard mask set for the canopy and tires worked great!  Word of advice...just be sure to use the correct masks for the aircraft you are doing!  Embarrassed  Yeah, I did that.  LOL!

Eagle, that Tamiya 190 of yours is shaping up nicely, great work on the office!

Thank you sir!  The painting went alright last night.  Not crazy about the overall scheme, but I matched it as best I could to the instructions.  Trying to do Hans Hahn's 190.

Building a kit from your stash is like cutting a head off a Hydra, two more take it's place.

brandon my kit has 2 versions 1 condor and 1 pre war. im going to go with the pre war just because i have never did a pre war with the red band on the tail. i will be useing all model master primer and paints im used to them and they work for me i also will be mixing the colors to scale with white with a little blue in it. im glad you threw up the RLM 02 color i forgot about that and probabley used RLM66. your pit looks great by the way.

i did a little research on the condor color and according to my schamatic book by kagero the condor 109s was deliverd in all natural metal. but my instructions in my airfix 109e-1 says a color close to RLM63. i have read in the past that they where all metal treated with a typ of acid wash that dulled the metal and protected it from the elaments ? 2017-10-19_04-44-40 by Jerry Richards, on Flickr 2017-10-19_04-50-19 by Jerry Richards, on Flickr

That’s a mighty fine looking 190!  The only issue I had when building that kit was the thick decals. Otherwise, a fantastic build.  I bet yours will look fantastic too!

Thank you Mopar!  I looked at teh decals...the do look a bit thick.  Huh?  Overall, it's a great kit.  the fit overall is great!  The canopy fit is just awesome!

Hey everyone.  Man, great stuff going on here!  I do have to say...you guys that are doing 1/144 kits....WOAH!!  I'm struggling with the 1/48 scale and you are making those tiny planes look awesome!!!  Great work!

Well, I figured I better post some pics before I'm done!  LOL!  This Tamiya kit is great!  She is literally just falling together.  I had one fit issue with the wing section going on the fuselage, but it wasn't terrible.  The cockpit was not as detailed as I'd like to see, but you can't see much once the canopy is closed.  I think my time will be spent painting her up.  I always have a hard time with the multi scheme stuff.  Embarrassed

I've added some Future to the dials and had dry brushed some to bring out the dials, but it is hard to see once in the fuselage.

I should have more pics tonight.  I have the rest of the canopy on now and I'm waiting for a few things to dry before pressing on.  Thanks for looking!

Interesting loking kit BD, i take it it come with both those planes.

Yeah, I was anticipating this one from the moment they announced it. The 109 is by Eduard, and the He-51 is the Roden kit with Eduard PE, masks and decals. I'll be doing it as either Galland's He-51 (third option) or the top option when I get around to it.

I have this kit and the stash. I have seen a few of 109‘s built but I have yet to see the He-51 built. Looking forward to seeing yours.

Steve: That tiny 190 looks really nice. Just thinking about how small those things are gives me a headache...

Andy: Replacing the exhaust stacks with metal tubing is a great idea and definitely looks the part.

Jerry: I personally prefer the later 109s, but those early variants sure are a nice change of pace. I'm looking forward to seeing more of that one.

Brandon: Looks like you're off to a good start there. I hear ya about the printed Eduard PE. Their RLM 66 is even worse than their 02...

Speaking of Eduard, it looks like they are going to make a G-10 to go with their current 1/48 Bf 109 lineup:

http://aerodynamicmedia.com/eduard-current-projects/

Apparently they're also going to retool all their Fw 190 A kits to match that new A-4 they just released.

Really nice start Brandon! Man that is some smooth paint! I like the color, I usually use Tamiya for my RLM 02 and it always turns out darker then I would like.

Ok, I got started on mine. I am building the 1/48 Eduard Bf-109E-3 in Condor Legion markings from this boxing:

I'll be building the box art version, because ithas a beer mug the pilot put on the plane in reference to a game that used to be played in the U.S., where hehad spent time, that revolved around drinking beer.

I started last night with some small cockpit buildup before I went to painting base coats.

I primed it with Mr. Surfacing Finisher 1500 Black, then sprayed it with Mr. Paint RLM 02. I'm not sure about the color, so I'm curious what you all think of the shade. It's a little different from Model Master RLM 02, which lookes pretty close to my eye, but in the end, I just really like the way Mr. Paint sprays, so I opted for it over Model Master.

Untitled

One thing I'm certain of is that the Eduard color PE gray looks pretty far off from RLM 02 to me, so while I will use it on the instrument panel, I am not using the switches on the right side of the cockpit and will opt to paint them instead.

I'm not going to weather this pit too heavily, as the pilot (and presumably the plane, as an E-3) arrived pretty late, and he didn't score any kills in the Spanish Civil War.

I built the shell of the engine, which is needed to hold the prop and exhausts, but I omitted most of the detail parts simply because I'm building this one with the cowl on. I already built one of their E-4s with the engine and guns exposed, which was fun.

As of now, it sits with the wing halves together, and I will do it with neutral ailerons, dropped flaps and extended leading edge slats.

That's all for me for now.

howdy gang this normaley how i start out is by test fitting. it all lines up well but evem\n with the pins and holes going to gether its still has room to miss aline on the fusalage seems so somthing to watch out for. any ways getting started on it. not a lot to the kit so depends on how much extra i will want to do. 2017-10-16_06-19-26 by Jerry Richards, on Flickr

o rooster looks like i may have missed getting on the roster. im sure you would  of spoted me before long. lol thanks in advance.

Sorry about that Jerry. Could you please give me the kit brand and variant you are building and I'll get it added!

Nice star Blackdog. I love the 109s in Spanish colors. What are you using for paint? I am building the Eduard Bf-109E-3 in Condor Legion markings, and Eduard's instructions say that there is some discrepancy on what color was used.

Looks like the Hobbycraft kit. They build up nicely.
