Bomber GB ' 18 - '19

I have found that some Italeri kits are "hit 'n miss" wrt fit but that STuKA looks very nice.

The helldiver looks so good in that 3 tone scheme, I love it.

As for my JU88, it has been mocking me for the pas few weeks and I just cant find the energy to complete it, yet I am so close I just need a day or so to just sit down and plough through :-(

I like the neat rivet details on the older Airfix kits. Thats a cool looking bird!

Here are some update picks on the helldiver. The paint is on and its time for gloss next and some decals. I am still not sure how I feel about it after patching the holes the were the brakes. I am too close to give up on it at this pint I guess. I plan to pose it flying over water about to dump its torp to spice things up a bit. I feel like it being a bomber build and all I need to show off what this thing can carry.

Thanks Chad! I might have stumbled into being lucky on this kit. I just happened to have a winning raffle ticket at a local show and picked it out from the pile because it looked cool lol!

You’re off to a great start. If you’re wanting a great out of the box Stuka, you definitely picked the right kit!

Ok Guys,

Here goes. My first Stuka since I was a youg boy, so lets say 45 years or so . So far, I am going to try it mostly out of the box but have ordered an aftermarket prop and pitot tube since those are highly visible when all is said and done. There is some good detail in the cockpit as I am seeing, but hoping I am on the right track. Here is what I have so far for the interior. I just applied a clearcoat so will get on with weathering after this. I am looking forward to your comments, and especially your constructive criticism. I hope I am worthy of this build based on the fantastic work I am seeing so far!

That’ll be an impressive bomber Steve!  Just a quick update.  This one has been a pain in the butt but I can see the finish line. Finally got the base coats and decals down. Time for little Mediterranean weathering and I’ll call this one done.

The Nell is on hold for now, I just don't feel like masking those massive greenhouse canopy's lately. I'll get back to it but in the mean time I started on the Badger.

I'm mounting it in flight so I closing the gear doors. I need to get some of the turquoise cockpit color so since this kit builds the fuse in three sections I started on the tail and mid section. The instructions also have me build the AS-2 Kipper and AS-6 Kingfish anti ship missiles at this point.

Afternoon everyone... Well I finished up about an hour ago... No dio for this one (yet) ?

Theuns, Chad 68GT... Thank you for the kind words. Actually and over all, I loved building this kit. Very few if any issues and pretty well detailed. The instructions could have been a bit clearer in a few areas, but still not bad... Well heres the finished Do 217 Bomber, Holland, 1942.

Well we'll try this for the third time... Good morning all! I'm at the point of unmasking, weathering and detailing...

OK, I have the tape off, panes cleaned up, antenna wire and masts on and some of the weathering started.

What I've been doing lately instead of "Washing" to hilite the panel lines is to use Tamiya X19 "Smoke" thinning just a bit more then normal, getting right up close, and going over each panel line and recess (sometimes more then once) until the desired effect is achived. So far just the tail is done.

The panel lines are starting to stand out a bit more and the little bit of over spray actually accents them too. There are alot more out here that know alot more about aircraft then I ever will, But they (specially the old military ones) drip, leak, twist and oil can, and this smoke, fuel, oil and even resperation from the crew permiate the skins which were often post card thickness, and it will find seams to escape.

Well it took about three times, But I believe this is what I want. I have just a bit more to do and next pics will be the finished ones... Thanks for looking...Take care,

68GT, Bish... Thank you! That was a scheme I found that this staffel used in Holland, 1942. 

John, MC... Thank you too ! Another day and I'll have the tape off maybe tomorrow. I don't like leaving it on too long, it starts to leave residue if left on too long. I'm  working on the weathering and hiliting the panel lines and might be done tomorrow.

Good morning everyone! I hope we all had a good weekend? Well I got the decals applied yesterday, and the setting solution worked its magic, and heres a few pics to post...

Still wet with setting solution at this time.
