Airfix 80th Anniversary GB feeler

Hi,

Sounds good to me.  I've got a copy of HMS Victorious and/or a copy of their Vampire jet fighter that I've been wanting to build. 

Been wanting to try an Airfix kit, and your GB's are always great.

I can't start until late spring '19, but I'd be in, Bish.

I'll sign up, Bish.  Most of my stash is Airfix.

I have a number of Spitfires.

Well as it happens I have a couple of Airfix's kits in my stash just screaming out to be built in 2019.

Please count me in.

Well, my wife is half Brit so honouring a Brithish company and buying a British product totally makes sense to me . I am in, don't know with what yet

I have one airfix kit - 1/48 defiant.  Sign me up!

Airfix just announced a new tool 1/48 Spitfire Mk.XIV bubbletop, IMHO the coolest looking mark of them all. I know it’s not Gentleman’s Scale, but hopefully it will be superior to the Academy offering.

And the year isn’t over.  A new tool 1/72 Vulcan perchance?

G, i think a new Vulcan will deffinetly be coming from Airfix. It seems to be at the top of most peoples wish list when i check the Airfix forum. Not sure if it will be next year or if they will wait until closer to the 40th anniversary of the Falklands war. But i am looking forward to seeing what they have planned for 2019.

You know I'm in Bish!!!!  I may do a couple of Airfix kits!!! 

I'd be in, Bish. I'd probably break out something fancy and go with one of the new big bombers, but December is a couple of months away so who knows.

Looks like a good line up already.

Im in, not sure what yet. I do enjoy the actual new tool kits....not the old airfix kits in the new red box!

I'm interested, have several of their new tool 72nd aircraft, plus a couple of their 54mm Napoleonic figures from way back.

Just to be certain, it's alright to use aftermarket decals?

Yep, after market decals and any other AM is fine, i'll make that clear in the build thread. Those figures sound nice as well. There are a few guys in the model club i belong to that paint 19th century figures and the work is amazing. Would love to see some of that on here.

There are rumors that Airfix will announce a new kit at Telford this weekend.  “The big one” seems to be the buzzword.  A new 1/24 Spitfire Mk.I?  1/24 Sopwith Camel?  1/72 Vulcan?  1/48 Vulcan?  1/350 HMS Queen Elizabeth?  James May 1:1 Spitfire?  It’s fun guessing!  What is British, iconic, big, and Airfix?

Gosh, I hope it’s not a bust like the one time I was at Telford.  There were rumors that a big announcement was going to be made, but alas nothing.

My vote goes to a 1/72 “Black Buck” Vulcan.  I got to see real live Vulcans at Hickam AFB on two occasions in the late 1970s.  I took a photo of the tail of one of them, which included the serial number and squadron emblem, so if Airfix delivers a new tool kit, I might have to buy two!  (I have a decal sheet which has markings for all units, which i have been dying to use.) 

Telford is not until next month G, but i would deffinetly expect somthing. 2 things i certainly expect to see next year are another Phantom, might as well make the most of those molds and they could appeal to a lot of markets. And i would also not be surprised to see an F-35 in RAF markings now it has enetered service.

I think it's great that Airfix has been revitalized and are pushing British subjects.  I'm also a fan!

Oh boy!! I'm always up for one of your GB's mate. I have several Airfix new and old. I'll be doing one of each. I've be looking forward to digging into some of them, I Just don't know which one(s) yet.

I'll join, too.  Don't what with yet, plenty of options in the stash.

Steve, i plan on doing both old and new kits, be interesting to see how they compare.
