OK Buddy.

I'm in.

The first of these I did at my Father-in-laws thanksgiving table.

I now live in his house, RIP the old man.

Usually I reach for an airplane, but I'm going to go another way.

Lindberg Nantucket Lightship.

Modeling is an excuse to buy books.

Steve

Building a kit from your stash is like cutting a head off a Hydra, two more take it's place.

It's that time already?

Oh yeah, you know I'm in, plus I can knock out 2 GBs at one time.

How about a 1/72 Trumpy Challenger II. I'm not a tread head but I'm pretty sure I can knock it out in a weekend. I've done it before with time to spare.

I may do 2 builds to make up for the pathetic little F-5 I completed last year.

Count me in!  Wouldn't seem right to let this one pass me by.  I have had the kits picked out since last year.  Going to start with some wheels again.  Slot me in for a Revell 1999 F-150 Lightning pick-up.  I'll move on to some wings afterwards.

I thank you for hosting this build again.  It is a ton of fun to push your limits with this insane time constraint.  I formally ask your blessing in starting a week or two earlier.  With my commitments around Christmas I don't get to contribute as much as I would like.

To all those considering this build I invite you to give it a shot.  Don't be scared, we are all nice.  You will be surprised at what you can do in a short time.  If you still have and doubts, check out the past years threads.

Can't wait to start!

Weekend GB: See you in November!
Posted by lewbud on Friday, October 12, 2018 2:36 AM

Prepare yourselves weekend warriors, the Weekend GB is coming. What is the Weekend GB you ask? It is only the rootenest, tootenest Group Build out there. It is unlike anything you have ever experienced as an adult modeler (unless you've participated in a previous iteration). It is the agony and the ecstacy, the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat. It is the stuff dreams are made of and legends are made. But what is it you keep asking? It is simply the shortest group build out there (it rarely lasts a month). Some group builds ask you to complete a model in 6 months, 12 months, some have no end. I'm not that needy. What I want from you is 48 hours or less, but no more. That's it. Who'll dream big and become a modelling god? Many have failed, but many have suceeded. Which will you be?

Start Date: 11/16/18. But Buddy, that's Thanksgiving weekend. I know, but it's a long weekend for those of us in the States and by Friday evening, you'll need an excuse to get away from the family for a while. This build will last for as long as there is interest, but usually peters out by Christmas.

The rules of Weekend Group Build are simple.

1. Have fun.

2. ALL MODELS MUST BE UNSTARTED. You may open the box, sniff the plastic and fondle it, but that's it. A proof of life pic is required at the start.

3. Have fun.

4. You have 48 hours in which to finish. If you start at 8:00pm on Friday, you have until 8:00pm on Sunday to finish. Because people such as myself work nonstandard hours, you don't have to limit your builds  to the weekend. If you have off Tuesdays and Wednesdays, go for it.

5. Have fun.

6. Post pics, lots of pics.

7. Have fun.

A suggestion or two. Don't be overly ambitious. In the past, models from companies like Mach 2 and Anigrand have been successfully finished. However, this is not the norm. This build is basically designed to let you blow out the cobwebs, just finish something so keep it simple. HOWEVER, should you decide that your going to pull up a chair at the local all you can eat buffet and go for that million piece model that's been calling your name forever, all I can say is GO FOR IT! What the heck do I know. In fact I'll triple dog dare you. Some audacious souls have even managed to complete two models in a weekend (I tried three once, but two is my limit). Whatever you decide, just finish.

Build Badge.  I have no graphics skills. If someone out there would be so kind as to create one I would appreciate it. All I ask is that it have a Calvin and Hobbes theme, its tradition.
