Okay, here is what has happened since I last posted.

The tractor is all together:

And I started the base, my third ever, so...

Plaster over xps, a bit of sandpaper for the road, split peas for the stones in the wall.

Painted up, with some Tamiya snow texture paint out the front

Then more Tamiya snow and some of the Deluxe material's snow

Then my driver got long trousers and a jacket.

ANd then seated so I can work out how to do his shoulder reconstruction

Piers: Looks great! Love the wall and the mods on the figure. 

Waikong: Sounds good. I friggin' hate masking canopies. Taking the masks off is good if everything looks clean.  

Piers>  The tractor and driver are looking great!  I do have to admit some doubt on using split peas as a wall.  That organic material may not hold up.  I would have used some lead birdshot, but then someone would grouse about lead poisoning...

The Akagi saga.

First off I finished all the handholds, then decided to replace the individual ladder rungs on the hull. So I orders the rungs and waited. While installing the rungs and cleaning off the original plastic blobs, I found some of the porthole eyebrows were removed during the process of removing the rungs and handholds, so I orders some portholes. I received the rungs sometime back and the porthold the other day but thought I should catch up here.

So, here she is with the handholds. Forgive if you've already see this pic.

next is the ladder rungs, They are very small and will be streighted better before paint.

Unfortunatly, I keep breaking off the railings so I had to order new generic IJN railings 

Anyway, on to the portholes. I'll need more of them since there's about 300 per side

I started to install the portholes and sealed covers. The portholes with just the sealed cover will be getting the porthole PE as well. I think maybe while most portholes were closed during the pre emptive wind up to the attack there may have been a few open. I need to get a few more sheets of PE to finish. I also continued on the 25mm AA guns. With building attrition due to lost or broken pieces, I need to get another pack of these as well. There are still a few pieces to add to the guns as well.

I'm with G on the PE on it.  I wouldn't even try all that detailed on a 1/200 or bigger.

Getting more done on the Myrt, got the fuselage glued up and seams sanded.  Fitting the wing is now nightmare.  Going to have to do even more trimming and try to clamp and glue one side at a time.

Yep!  It was the two-seat version that was throwing me off. 

TB: Well, in this case I'm glad you had to use the pilots! They came out so well!

GAM!!!!! OMG it's been so long!! !VERY glad to see the GB still going!! WOW some amazing builds going on and finished!! I am currently working on a '65 Impala so not suitable for here but will TRY and keep up to date. Soooooooo wish FSM had an App for the forums as it would mean sooooo much more coverage and convenience. WHOA LMAO was heading towards a rant. All the best guys, will try my best to keep checking up. I have been sucked into PS4 and have been neglecting my bench but also .....well we know. Ithink I will be more than ready for JGB X!!!!

Waikong that is one outstanding Dinah! We're used to seeing so much extreme weathering - it's refreshing to see an example of an in service aircraft with (IMHO) normal wear and tear. Well done!

Thanks everyone for their comments, these group builds really help me to get stuff done and finished. The general lockdown also helps :) the most modeling I have done in years. When's the next one ?? The picture chosen is fine, thank you. As for the weathering, I like to see the extreme weathering once in a while, but in general I like mine used but not abused. 

Waikong>  I'll add my congratulations on a superb job.  The Dinah looks great!  It's nice to see a Japanese aircraft in such a different color.
