There is some good nose art, you can see the mosquito dive bomber on this side. And a mosquito drinking a beer on the other

Nice build of an old kit, Lostagain, I like the nose art and the other markings really look good on the silver.  The Mossie is one of my favourite aeroplanes, but I've only ever built camouflaged ones - not even a night fighter - you may have planted a seed!

Vell, Zaphod's just zis guy, you know?

Going to hit the sack. Here is my progress so far:

The hardest part has been the bosses:

I found the trick is to use a toothpick with a blob of wax on the end to hold and place them.

Sorry guys.  I have to pull the plug on the UH-1.  I got called into work to deal with an issue.  20 hours later, I'm finally home but won't be finished by midnight.  I'll find something else and hopefully start this weekend.

Keep building guys!

Indeed it does and being layed off, I have to take what work I can get.  But I'm not done yet.  I will find something else to build.

Unfortunately I was not able to finish on time. My grandfather came over for an unplanned visit and I 'lost' the last few hours. I will try to finish soon, but I have many other things to do. I will try again on Christmas, but until then here are my pics.

Completed build:

Primed:

And proof of 'non'completion:

SD,

Keep at it.  You're too close to the finish to box it up.

Hutch, Bummer about not getting the Hawk finished in time.  You'll get her fixed up in no time and be sure to share the pics with us. She'll still make the front page.

Thanks, Lewbud, I got her finished today.  I brushed 2 coats of Pledge floor polish over the awful paint job, to make sure of a smooth surface, then used a cheapo rattle can of gloss black enamel  - came up very nicely, I think!  Decals followed, but not all of them - there are loads, most of them tiny, and would be invisible on a black background.  At the very last minute I lost the nose light lens to the Carpet Monster, so put a small dollop of Kristal Kleer on instead.

Well, I didn't hit the time target, but I'm pleased with the end product and, most importantly, I thoroughly enjoyed the build.  Thank you for hosting this, Lewbud, and for allowing me to take part - there's always next year!

Hutch,

She looks good to me!  Congratulations on getting her across the finish line.  Which pic would you like for the front page?

Front page is updated with Hutch's Hawk.  I know it's holiday season, but does anyone have any plans to build this week?

Hutch that's got a nice gloss on it

Thanks, Mongoose, next time I think I'll just go straight to the rattle can!  Your Sukhoi's complex camo was an impressive achievement in the short time available, I couldn't have managed that, and I'm glad your pilot managed to escape from the space crocodile thingy that had him by the foot earlierBig Smile

Sailing Dutchman, that M10 looks good, I look forward to seeing the end result - nice work so far.

OK.  Here we go again.  As I said, I'm determined to finish a helo in Weekend Madness.  Here we are.

Nope! You are not alone this weekend Caveman.  I look forward to your whirly bird build.

I started a couple of hours ago and I'm almost done the construction phase.  Very Simple kit really but I was not happy when I opened the box and saw the one piece vinyl tracks and road wheels.  They are clearly shown on the outside of the box so I only have myself to blame.  We'll see how it goes.

I see that the box top got cut off in the picture.  It is Dragon's 1/72 Stug. III Ausf F

Now that is strange.  I don't think I have ever seen road wheels and tracks molded together in vinyl.  Not sure how I would deal with that.  Good Luck, see ya at the finish line!

Thanks Caveman.

4 hours into it and I have the assembly done on the major compnents and have just primed them.  I'll get some sleep and carry on in the morning when the primer has dried.

The muzzle break on the barrel was a bit disappointing so I carved it up a bit.  Normally these Dragon 1/72 kits are a treat.  Not sure what happened with this one.

Nice work on the muzzle brake, Razor, especially in that scale - I bet the semicircular vent was tricky.

Glad you got going on the Apache, Caveman, I look forward to watching your progress

That's not uncommon for a Hobby Boss kit. I did a Merkava a couple years back that was like that. Actualy worked out nice, painting was a little tough though.

I plan to start on the Lee on Wed.

Steve

Building a kit from your stash is like cutting a head off a Hydra, two more take it's place.

Very interesting.  I guess I don't build enough tracked thingies to have run across that yet.  Immedaitely I would be worried about the paint falling off the vinyl.

Well, about 18 hours in and there really isn't a whole lot to show.  Fortunately for me, these helos are not exactly colorful.  All black cockpit just needed some dry brushing and worked out fine.  I can say that all the sub assemblies are completed and in a few hours I should bee able to put virtually put the entire thing together.  I hope to be posting pics. with the first paint coat before midnight tonite.

I have to say that the molds are showing their age and there has been alot of clean up needed, but that's what we love about these old Revellogram kits.  Further pics. up later tonite.

Caveman it's actually molded plastic. I was dubious at first but it actually turned out pretty good.

Hutch, Thanks!

Model crazy, nice Merkava!  I'm finding these tracks are taking the paint really well.  The truth will come out when I am ready to glue them on I think.

A little more than 27 hours in and I think I am in good shape.  Paint and decals are on.  I gave the tracks a wash with an oil base paint just now so I will let them dry til morning and then I am on to final assembly and painting all the molded on tools etc.

Caveman, you're off to a good start. Keep it coming.

I preshaded with some nato black.  I wish I would have taken a photo before I put the green camo on. It looked really nice and now with the green on it takes away from the preshading.  Anyway, here is where i am at before bedtime.
