Nice paint on that Stug.  Almost there, you got this.

A little later than I had hoped, but together and the first color coat on.  Gonna get some rest and press on tomorrow.

Done with plenty of time to spare.  I was actually done earlier today but it was such a nice day today that I went for a little hike.  Just had to dust it a bit with some Tamiya buff and put the dull coat on when I got home.

My concerns about the one piece tracks and wheels were mostly unfounded.  Painting them was the only issue and was time consuming.  It could use an oil wash but there is no way that would have dried in time for a 48 hour build.  I might go back and do that at some point.

Enough bable. Pictures...

I just might do one more for this before the new year. Propeller

Lewbud you can use the first picture for the front page.

Done with just a few min. to spare.  Could have used more time, but isn't that always the case.  The one thing I couldn't do, was bring myself to use the kit supplied Hellfire missiles.  Both wrong size and shape.

I will post better pics when there is some light.  I hope to get at least one more in before New Years.

Caveman and Razor, both come out well.

Caveman the Apache (yep sorry, it's not a cobra) has come up well and has good variation in the green scheme.

Going for another? - seriously impressive.

Razor, good work on the Stug. And plenty of time for a hike and some weathering - nice!

I got started on Christmas Eve, with a Tamiya 1/72 P-51D.

Trading one Mustang for another one.

About 4 hours in.

About 25 hours in.  First coat of silver drying.

Prop is done.

Nose painted and drying.

Still have to get the landing gear.  I hate working on landing gear, they always collapse.Surprise

Things should work out.  Thanks for looking.

Razor, I went ahead and jumped the gun. I had time and wanted to have the finish time Sunday night. Good luck on your build.

I started at 9:52pm and stoped at midnight to let everything dry. Tomorrow is some sanding and wheels and I should be able to get some paint on.

SteveCB,

That little Mustang is looking nice.  The landing gear is pretty simple and fairly robust.  I got faith in you brother.

Razor,

I look forward to your next build.

Steve,

That little Lee looks good.  Keep at it!

Done!  I could have called it yesterday evening, but decided to put the drop tanks on.

Starting the decals.

With the tanks

Final time.

The gear was stable for the pics, took it up to show my wife, then put it out to display. and one fell off.  Sigh.Sad  I'll fix it later.

Good looking build Steve!  Congrats on the finish!

I am off and running.  Something a little more challenging this time.

Nice job Steve.

I didn't know Airfix made a landing craft, Razor.

Here's my progress almost 17 hours in. Going out for dinner so perfert time to let it dry.

When I get home I'll start the OD and work on the tracks.

Probably not cbaltrin but we would love to see you make the attempt.  Toast

modelcrazy, you are off to a good start

I am 7 hours in and have it all ready for paint.  Maybe this isn't that big of a challenge after all.  We'll see.  The top is not glued on yet to facilitate painting but here is where is it is at.  I'll prime it tonight and get to painting tomorrow.

OK Buddy, I'm done in just a tad over 24 hours. I had difficulty with the decals but I noticed some Lee's that didn't have the stars so......

I really dislike the rubber band tracks for american tanks, they never fit right, especially on older kits.

Steve and Steve,

Congratulations on crossing the finish line.  Which pic of your builds would you like me to use for the front page or is it my choice?

Razor,

That is a neat little boat.  I look forward to seeing more.

Cbaltrin,

Depends on what you're brush painting.  A 1/144 B-29? Absolutely no prob.  A Monogram 1/48 B-29? The odds are quite long against finishing in time.  Don't let me stop you from trying though.

Steve and Steve,

I've updated the front page with pics of your builds.

I'm going to make my second attempt on Tuesday.  May take a page out of Modelcrazy's book and do some braille scale armor.  I have a bunch of 1/72 Humvee's that I should be able to get one done in the alotted time.

I just checked the front page and a month into this, we have 17 completions and 23 entrants.  That's outstanding guys!

Thank you Buddy. I'll have to come with up with something that'll push me a little harder like Zero last year, but doesn't just swallow all my time on one area like the Elefant did.

I have all year to come up with something.

Till then... peace out...and thanks for hosting this iconic GB.

See you in the funny papers.

About 13 hours to go and I am in good shape despite a few interuptions today.  Paint is done and I still hope to get the decals on tonight so that they can dry overnight and then add the last few details and hit it with a dull coat in the morning.  I won't get to any weathering on it.
