Looks good Dave! I build that kit years and years ago- the Arii/Otaki kits are still solid kits today if a little Spartan on the details. 

I thought Spitfire was to scale there! Looking forward to you getting her built up. 

Trying to upload an image to get into the group build.  I will be building the vintage Otaki Shinden, Allied code name "George" in 1/48th scale.  To be such an old kit, it has great, subtle detail and a limited parts count.  Let's see if the image loads!!  (Thanks Keavdog for posting an Imgur 'how to' elsewhere on the forums.  The cat is my chief safety officer, Spitfire.  He insists on inspecting each and every box, no matter what the size, for any potential hazards!!

Below a fast track photo series of what was done.

A subtle attempt at riveting, proved too subtle and the things disappeared after a pass with 1500 grit .

Landing light was made out of a piece of Tesa clear tape. The kit clear part was for the trash bin...

Joints were checked with black marker. After a light rub with IPA, it reveals the gaps one wishes to eliminate

Yellow and red was sprayed (Gunze acrylics) and masks were placed (Montex) for the Hin/ru's and tail marking (56th Regiment, Home Islands Defense, 1945)

Undersurfaces painted with Vallejo Aluminum

Top surfaces with TAM XF-13 faded with white and 1/10th of a drop yellow.

Superb job BK!!! Considering how much detail is there on the tail going a little simpler on the chipping and pre-shading makes sense.

I'm calling this one done. Kinda wish I had taken the time to hairspray and chip this one up a tad, but I got so tied up in painting it all and only using the tail number decals that I plumb forgot to. Not to mention I also didn't post shade either, which I really wish I had done. But, it's done and that's that. A bit clean for a war bird but I love the scheme so it works. Enjoy the pics.

Fantastic detailing there PJ!  

I made a stab at the two figures for the Type 16, I am not terribly happy with them, but painting figures in this scale are not my strong suit.  They are there more or less to give it some life anyway.  I really struggled with the JGSDF camo, I nearly gave up and just used a straight OD green.

Never mind their oddly shaped heads with paint slathered over, it is covered by their unattached and unpictured helmets.

I still need to go back and give a light drybrush on the faces so they don't look like they were rolling in an ash pile.

Here is the AFV with them in place, with the salvaged camo job.  I went old school with drybrushing it to blend in the blotches.

All that remains is decals, tool installation, and the wheels in the background.

Hopefully I can call it done sometime next week!

Myrt is looking real good PJ.   Can't wait to see this one!

The scraping is over and on with the build. This pit is trully well detailed out of the box. I threw in some wires to add a little extra along with pe seat belts.

IP after careful painting. Clear parts cement was used for the instrument glass.

Great job on both planes John, specially the Dinah.

I was hoping to have some progress done on my Myrt but I keep finding mold release marks everywhere in the pit, main gear and just about the entire kit. They are the round type and just sticking out a tad proud making it easy to carefully scrape and sand to smooth out the corrected area.

Good thing is they are located in not so visible spots for the most part. This kit is very well detailed but the reviews mention tons of mold marks on certain parts specially in the highly detailed pit. I'm still scraping away as I post.

Thanks guys!  I have a bit of an unforced error today, I tried doing soje pin washes and panel line accests with a green Vallejo washes...I tried wiping the excess like I usually do, and it bit had a bit too hard in the areas around the panels so they all look like the Sun's corona.  I will have to try and find a paint that matches TS91 to tone this down.  D'oh!
