Ok fella's it's time I got my skates on. This is an old Nichimo 1/48th Kate. Not sure how the decals will go, but the kit itself is really nice for it's age, so the only problem I'm expecting is the builder.

CB: The Shinden looks fabulous.

Gamera: I hope your back has settled down - aint age a ***! The amount of PE on the Shimakaze would scare the living daylights out of me - good luck mate.

Svezda: I love the paintwork and detail in that pit.

Crown: That is an awesome metal finish on the F86D!

BK: What an amazing paint job! The masking work that that must have taken is hard to imagine.

Cheers,

Ferg

Gamera

I started on IJN Shimakaze. Not much so far.

Big sheet of PE. To be honest I've never liked the stuff. I'm try to find some way to muck my way though it.

And a special set for the linoleum deck. Not sure how to handle this. I think I'm going to try to finish the kit and then attach them instead of trying to mask all this.

I watched a guy build a kit early today and he painted the kit and then painted the railings seperate and then attached them. Seemed to be a better way of doing it. And he used a slow set CA to attach them. Anyway you choose will always be fun.

Any story behind those markings?  Formation bird?

Nope. Just fell in love with the box art and had to build it. I typically don't do a whole lot of research on my builds, I just build. I suppose it would be nice to know though, right?

BK that looks awesome.  Putting down yellow and reds is always a chore, particularly together.  Well done.  Going to be quite the eye catching bird when done.  Any story behind those markings?  Formation bird?

Thanks,

John

Hey Cliff - change of plans.  Instead of the Zero, I'm doing this - I'm in a floaty thing mode

Thanks,

Sorry for the delay on this one boys. I've had some pain in my left thumb that makes holding kits less than fun, so I've been off the bench for bit. Now all the major paint work is complete. I just have to do detail painting and some minor touch ups and off to decals. I love the scheme on this kit and the box art totally got me. I have painted all that you see rather than decals. It was a ton of masking and many trips to the booth, but I think it looks great. More to come as time allows.

Hasegawa F-86D in 1/72.

Paints Vallejo metal color with Tamiya flat and gloss clear.

Decals mix match of Hasegawa's T-33 JASDF kit form way back when? and kit decals.

Gamera . Thanks for hosting an other Japanese GB waiting for the next one. I thank you all for watching and your comments..

Nick: She's coming along great!

I too have a soft spot for the '60s Godzilla films and the planes on wires in them. I mean the newer ones look so much better but they're not really as much fun.

Gamera. Thank you, the Japanese GB's are very intertaining..

and still some things to do.. gave a light coat of Tamiya flat clear.

I still find it odd to see an F86 with Japanese markings. Looks really good.

Zvezda1980

Partially assembled, incl. seat belt with some custom harness (tin foil + spare PE parts) and after a couple of washes with acrylics.

Seat cushion was made out of Milliput (not the best looking but at least I hope it's comfortable).

Your painting is looking very good. You are clearly quite skilled at it. She is looking really nice.

Zvezda: Looks good! Nice work on the cockpit!

And thanks, back is much better. As you said it just needed some time to rest. Straining it and then spending two days stooping and bending over didn't help it at all.
