yep, just brought all the stuff inside and set up a winter shop. I was so relieved when it finally worked, an I got the basic white interior painting done. Got the hatches and some other exterior details on. Just a little more. Should definetly be done by Christmas.

John, I notice you put the interior together before painting. Do you always do that or do you paint prior to assembly on some parts?

Painting the interior was somewhat tricky, It was hard to reach in some places, but it worked out ok. I always build and then paint. I figured for the interior, if you cant see it, dont paint it.
I am now stuck on these little bolts that go on the side. Very tedious work. I also got a little plaque for the Band of Brothers thing.

I know what you mean. I havent been modeling for 3 years but I have been modeling for a year. My old stuff is broken (I build a 1/72 sherm and Huey then found some 1/72 germans and American WWII, it turned into vietnam with Germans and shermans! lol!? and looks like crap.
Finished all of the building!!!!!!!! yay! Now time to paint. Not sure when I'll get around to that though. Hopefully soon.

well, I am an idiot. I worked so hard on getting that barrel right, I forgot to insert the front glacis of the turret between the mantlet and the breech. Now it doesn't fit. Had to cut the breech in half and assemble the turret. Tomorrow, I will have to reach inside and reattach the breech. Considering not bothering, as I plan to have two figs in the hatches, so I don't know if you can tell. I will see

Rebel,

Good work so far. One suggestion. If you are going to do the engine and make it show, you need to paint the engine compartment white. I did not bother to paint mine white because the kit didn't come with an engine so I shut the engine bay doors closed.

I also shut the engine doors on mine. I was disapointed that there was no engine. Is the red a primer? I was using yours as an example and I wasnt quite sure.

No...I applied the maroon colored paint to simulate red-oxide primer but I got informed that the engine compartment should be white. I believe the other areas (gas tanks and nooks) should be in red-oxide primer colors.

Got the guest bedroom painted on Sat. Started on the Sherman last night. Was going to 'raise' the recessed welds but figured-why? After I got started building, the instructions called out for 'poly bushings'-guess what-they weren't there! Sigh. My guess is that I can continue to assemble, just certain items won't move as freely, if at all. Not a problem. Would rather do that than wait for replacement parts.

Might have trouble getting the part to for without the bushings or filling the hole up and re-drilling the hole. Otherwise, it will be tough to get it to fit

If that's the case, I've gotta figure that a "fill & drill" will be quicker that waiting for replacement parts. Hummm, maybe some old "Shoe Goo" (used to repair the soles of running shoes) will work.......

thanks dwight, I'll probably leave it though (I am really Lazy when it comes to airbrushingDisapprove [V]), not a biggy.
well I am not going to be painting the M-10 until this weekend so I started on my vingette. It'll be my first time with snow, I had some testing with it tonight on an old model. I'm going to see if the LHS has the 101st Airborne winter figs set, then I could add a fig. I also scratchbuilt the inside of a helmet. Nothing special really, just the basics.
Not sure when I will paint it though, probably Saturday night since I think I am starting Drivers ed on Saturday but no class on sunday.

Filling and sanding shouldn't be too hard. The toughest part would be getting the thing centered. I was digging through my tool box last night and noticed at least one extra polycap. I can send them to you if you want them. Let me know

Thanks for the offer Jason. I'm going to take a few days off before I look at it again. Might even find the missing caps-if they were in the box. I'll let you know if I need your extra.

Thanks again

OK. I will check tonight to see how many I have. I see you are in WV, so you would have them in a couple days if needed.

i started alittle on the pather, its missing a lot of parts and one of them is the front light.....so i picked up some sprue and inadvertatly start whittling away and making a cone shaped head light......i whittle and whittle, while writing my huck finn paper and i look at the pic of the panther and it isnt a cone shaped light!!!!! i did a pretty good job on it so i stashed it away for a rainy day (raining models that is...) i pick up some more sprue and cut a cylinder one, i get finnished and start drilling a hole for the bulb, when i remember that it is a black out cover!!! i flip it over thinkin ill patch it up..... i finish the cover, put it in my pliers to sand it.... and its gone, it FLEW OUT!!!! to this minute i am looking for it!! WHY DID TAMIYA MAKE A SPRUE THATS THE COLOR OF MY BASEMENT FLOOR!!!!!! AHHHH!!! now i got to start ALL OVER AGAIN!!!!!
BUT!!! good news!!! i know which tank im making.....its gonna be #431 franz frauscher...probably a dio of him on the S curve of Highway N15 where he shot up an american column.......i still havent decided.....

Tamiya made the King Tiger the color of my carpet! Take a flashlight and lay it on the floor. It highlights things laying on the floor rather nicely. I speak for experience....loads of it

that sucks!!! I think we all know what you re talkng about too. If you want for about 8 bucks including shipping, you can order a sprue from Tamiya. Just a thought.
I got a little bit of interior detail painting done. I am very mad at myself, I used to only paint figs, making me fairly good at figs and small details. Now I suck, When I try to be really carefull I get a shaky hand like on Saving Private Ryan. I gotta practice. I am still wating for the Celluclay to dry for my vignette.

Hey Jason,

Thanks again for the offer. I'm going to play around with it a bit this weekend and see what I can come up with. I'll keep your spares in mind though.

I finished up my little Band of Brothers vignette. It is really boring without a Fig so I am definetly going to get one. I havent looked at it today so I dont know how it turned out, Ill go look in bit.

Iterior of the M10 is all painted. In order for me to airbrush I have to wai until I the weekend when I can build a fire to heat my new airbrushing room. (Im in my regular modeling room with no heat)
I have Drivers ed on saturday and My friends 16 b-day on sunday, so Im not sure what i'll get done.

Hope you aren't using thinner with a fire in the same room! I have a guy insured who burnt his house down doing that!!

Double D. The sides skirts look really cool, especially if you cut out some of the individual panels and leave them off. I did that on my Panther and my Jadgpanther. Gives it character and that battle worn look. If it is Tamiya, be careful if you do it so you don't end up with a plate with only one attachment point. That would defy gravity!!

the fire is far away from the thinner and other flammables, and it is in a wood burning sove, all closed off. But ya, just to make sure Im very careful, otherwise........ lets no go there!

I looked at My vignette, and I am ver displeased with the blood. I used fake halloween blood and it leeked through the snow and looks like way too much. Sigh [sigh] owell, all the other stuff looks pretty good. I really need a fig in there though.

jwest- im kinda lookin towards the side skirts, the kit didnt come with it so i'd have to scratch it.....but out of what??? i have soda can aluminum, but i think thatll be alittle too skiny, and i dont have styrene cuz the only hobby shop that has it that i know went outta business......
about the vignette that im doin,
Which one wood (hehe pun) be better for the base, wood, or styrofoam??
