Hey Everyone,

I have not received any emails as to who is participating in this GB. I would like to keep track some what. So if those who would like to participate please email me with a name and rally car they plan to build I would greatly appreciate it. Also I will be making changes to my first post as we go along. You can check it for updates as such.

Darren, how's the 206 coming along?Big Smile [:D]

Chris...the 206 is coming along just fine, thanks for asking. Unfourtunately i'm a much better builder than I am photographer, so it can take a while for me to get pics posted. I end up taking quite a few pics just to get a few that I like.

I painted the body Tamiya chrome silver (X-11). After 7 or 8 coats of clear I got a decent gloss to it. The decals were pretty straight forward. The red trim was a bit challenging, with a little micro-sol and heat they snuggled down quite nicely. I still have a bit of work to do to finish up the body but that will be later.

I've got the under side of the chassis done. Not much to see once you install the rock guards. Curiously Tamiya molds all of the guards in clear, but calls out paint for them. They don't mention the option of leaving them clear to view the driveline and suspension. I'm almost tempted to leave them off. Lots of nice detail hiding under there.

My favorite part of most Tamiya kits is the wheels and brakes. I love the fact that you get decals for the brake caliper, wheel and tire. A quick wash and clean build up give awesome results. To me these are the focus of the kit. It's what draws my attention first.

Today I move on to the interior. The figures are what worry me the most. I've never done one in my life. Looks like lots of good looking details will be seen on the inside...I'll post more pics when I've made more progress.

i just read the first page and saw that the gb has already started!! thats cool, but i said i wanted to build a corolla wrc, but i dont have the finances atm to buy one. but thats not the prob, coz i have a wrx wrc in my stack :) the thing is that i dont wanna build it as a rally car, but as MY car... i wanna add some c/f decals (bonnect, maybe interior) personalised number plates and some other minor mods.
so is it possible that i stay in th gb with my rexxie? it still is a WRC, but for rallying the streets of sydney ;)

Hi! Count me in as well as I can't find time to finish my build in the Racing car group build that ends next week.

My car is a Peugeot 206 WRC from the rally of Turkey 2003. The ride was driven by the Panizzi brothers and the livery only featured in a couple of rallies.
I'm bashing two Tamiya Pugs. Started the 2003 version but needed suspension and wheels from the 2002 winner version. Also got a transkit from Renaissance with decals, dash and wing and I've ordered rivets and aerials from Sakatsu and PE set from Studio27.
I have allmost finished the chassis and wheels and I am currently working on the interior parts. Hopefully I'll get some progress pics posted soon.

Here's the original livery:

best regards

Creative... Me...? Yeah right!! Good news is that my move is on for next week, so I will most likely be able to get started on this somewhere shortly - depending on how unpacking goes!

Will be an 02 Focus.

Yeah, Nicholma, that 04 Subaru is making me giggle as well. It seems there is a PE set for the kit coming from Tamiya as well.

Strange how Tamiya avoided making Citroens thusfar... (?)

So maybe 2006 then after Citreon and Peugeot depart ?? Should be long enough for Mitsubishi to get their WRC sorted, although if the championship is based solely on agressive looks it would win by miles now!

Hey Mark,

I don't know why but I fancy the Skoda team. You think they might have a chance next year? Big Smile [:D]

Here's some more progress pics. The interior is going slower than expected, mainly due to the problems i'm having painting the figures. I think I repainted this one 5 or 6 times. I had no clue how hard it would be. I will not glue the arms on until I get the steering wheel inplace. One down, one more to go. I also substituted the kit CF decals with ScaleMotorSports 1/24 plain weave pewter CF decals...what a difference. The kit ones looked like a big checker board. For the most part i'm happy with the figure, but if anyone has any suggestions feel free to share.

Can someone tell me what that blue cylinder in front of the drivers seat is?

since its blue id guess Nitrous Oxide. but then again due to the location i would say fire extinguisher. from my knowlege, NoS tanks are in the back, so the final verdict would be that its a fire extinguesher

Indeed, no nitrous in the WRC, that's against the rules.

I think I'll go shopping next week, I'm still not sure which car it will be, but I'll join this GB for sure.
It's been ages since my last rally-car and I think I'll try something with fiber-optics too.

Hey, good news.... We finished moving in, have been unpacking, painting and moving stuff around for almost 2 weeks now - a never-ending job! Not to mention the "Hon-please-fix-this-and-while-you're-doing-it..." little jobs!

Study is starting to get up and running, desk is in... I might just get to put my grubby paws on a model this weekend! First time in 2 months or more.

Work on Pat's car is going fine, she's just finished with the underside and moving to the interior. As soon as she gives me the 'go' I'll put a pic up here.

Is that still the same kit that was released in the late 70's or early 80's as a motorized kit, nicholma ?

Here is the first picture of my progress on the Tamiya Subaru Impreza WRC 2002...
It's a fine kit and I haven't encountered any problems yet.

Imprezzive! (Sorry, it's Monday, could not resist!)
Looking very nice, Pat!

I made a start as well over the weekend. Actually took out the box (major accomplishment!) and then sprayed the undertray. So absolutely nothing worth showing as yet.

No wasn't that a Nitto or Bandai or something??

The Haseqawa kits is a very nice "curbsider".
