how do you "heatform" the windows

DURR:

it's like vacu-forming, but w/o the vacuum....

gently heat a piece of acetate which is a bit bigger than the piece u want 2 replace,

& once it gets soft & malleable, pull it over the master... it may take a couple of tries

b4 u get a useable piece, don't hold the acetate too close 2 the heat source (i use a candle

or a cig lighter) or u will get some icky fumes & possibly some flames as well !

if the master is fragile, u may want 2 stick some blu-tac or silly putty inside 2 help keep the

shape....

sorry 4 the delayed response, & HTH !

here r the latest pix of my little pug:

the fuel filler has been added behind the driver's seat, need 2 touch up the 'holes' in the wheels

speedline & michelin decals added 2 the sides

tricolore decal on the roof... mais ouis, c'est francais !

the rear end w/ decals added... i have 2 find a replacement for the '205 turbo 16' decal that should b on the rear, rite side of the DENSO logo...  one repositioning too many, i'm afraid.

hope u enjoy the latest pix !

Frosty, this is really starting to look awesome! Just how small is this 1:43 stuff to work with? I've allways thought of doing a 1:43 model and never got around to it! Will most likely be a F1 or maybe a Le Mans car, though, due to their relative rarity. Well, if a rally car, then one of Seb's cars - why Tamiya can do them in RC and not in 1:24 is beyond me...

As for the Suby - all decalled up and nowhere to go! Wink [;)] I completed the decalling with very little mishaps and spent most of yesterday evening polishing it. Somehow I managed not to break anything or tear any decals in the process. (Still waiting for the rain...) So all that remains is the arials and camera to be added on the roof and it's all done! Hope to post some pics after the weekend!

Okay, all done... Pics not the best, but here they are. Amazing how the dust, etc gets highlighted in the light and you only notice it on the photo's!

Taken a bit skew, sorry!

45-angle view - how the window looks so filthy in the light, I don't know - perfect indoors!

Side view...

Highly enjoyable build - will recommend this kit!

SeaBee:

thanx ! the 1/43 scale isn't too bad 4 me... i do model rr stuff in 1/160, so everything else seems pretty big in comparison, LOL ! the pug  fits on my 3" sq. cutting mat, but there was still plentyof room inside 2 add details, & if u have ever worked w/ p/e parts u will probably b used 2 fiddly stuff... seems like most of the 1/43 kits out there r either white metal or resin  & kind of expensive, the heller ones r injection molded styrene  & affordable but hard 2 find...

.F1 & LeMans cars r very well catered 2 in 1/43, check out grandprix models & lemans miniatures 4 some very cool kits... there is a ferrari 312 T that is 2 die 4 , i want that model !!!!

ur suby looks great, very nice work on that, & i guess i'll b seeing u in F1-ville soon enough !

but she's coming along !

& here's an earlier pic of the pug w/ the corolla wrc in the background:

i'm getting the decals done on the corolla wrc, it's further along than in this pic,

hopefully i'll have some updated pix of that one soon !

Thanks for the compliments, guys!

Frosty, I'm just finalising an order for two Tameo's, one of which being an open-engined version of the F2004. Think it's TMK346, but that's from memory. Look quite a neat one - but will first do the other one I ordered to get used to the scale.

Well, just because it's in a big box that will make space for more cars to fit in! Didn't even know LMM do 1:43 as well. I have a 1:24 Bentley with opening doors and all in the cupboard. And just to boot, it's not on the bench yet - I decided to "replace" the empty space the Suby made with an F-4 I started building before we moved (more than a year ago!) Yes, I am actually building a plane... Shock [:O] Of course it's no coincidence that it comes in a big box... which will allow more cars to come in once that box is away! Wink [;)] No seriously, a change of scenary is allways nice!

SeaBee:
those Tameo F1 kits look awesome !
& as 4 LMM 1/43 kits, check out their porsche 962 'FAT', it looks like tamiya-level detail
but scaled down 2 1/43 .... & lots of these little cars will fit on the shelf once the big box is out of the way !
btw, i like a/c also....
here's a pic of 3 fokker dr.i a/c i built not too long ago, (1/72 eduard kits):
& here's a bf-109f2 trop, w/ scratchbuilt engine (1/72 italeri kit):
if u click on the pic it gets bigger & clearer...
i build armor, too... & gundam models.... i'm just totally in love w/ miniatures ...
so i know what u mean about a change of scenery !

Frosty, nice looking planes! Since we're way off the WRC topic: I picked up the kits over the weekend. I was absolutely stunned! Firstly at the (lack of!) size! You know it's smaller, but you think "Aaah, it's about half a 1:20 model... Shock [:O]

And then the detail! I think some larger scale manufacturers should bury their heads in shame! Wink [;)] In the end I got the Mp4/4 (old "curbside World Championship version, since replaced with a detailed version) and the F2004 "Belgium" version. Also some other versions that can be built from that kit. Open engine, extra nosecones for a nice diorama. I have never seen so many small parts together (as for the F2004)! Hooooly cow! Even worse than the SD kit I have for the F2002. Supplier told me that is nothing compared to the 312T2, T3 an T4's. I am very tempted start the MP4/4 right away - only thing keeping me back is the complete lack of Dremel tool. I am now in the hunting process to rectify that... of course also very handy for the slowly progressing R25!
