Yeah and you gotta do the same little dance that "John Cleese" did too, but try to remember not to let Kremps see you, You know how she gets when there is a whole raw fish around her, "Sushi Time"

Sensational Sean. Love the panel wiring & you've got that metal weathering down nicely.

I'm still stuck waiting on the missing instrument panel decals so that I can close up the body & get on with it.

I go into hospital tommorrow for a knee operation so I should get a few days off after it.

Ouch! It was actually me who had the shoulder op & I've had both knees done as well. If this is your first time with one of those my biggest tip is to do all of the exercises - makes a huge difference to recovery.

Carl , I wish it was my first knee op, it's the 4th op on my left knee and in the near future I will be having an op on my right knee. Sad [:(]

I'm getting somewhere on the models tho so it's good in the long run. Here are some photos of a RAAF P-51 that i'm doing whilst waiting for the canopy for the Mosquito. Still heaps of work to be done but it's getting there.

Sean, would you beleive that it is just how well made the kit is that it just goes together like that. A bit of white glue and it just went into place.

It's the Tamiya F-51 built OOB excpet the decals which are Red Roo decals for a RAAF acft based in Japan after the war.

I've never had a Tamiya kit where the windscreen or canopy sat as nice as your Dave.

Time to bump this topic up a bit I think.

Here's a few more photos of the Mustang. All there is left is to do is paint and attach the 5" HVAR and do up the propeller and it's as good as finished. I'm not even sure if I will do the panel wash I normaly do as the panels stand out well as it is. Other than that there is only minimal weathering to be don.

Sean I agree about the canopies on the majority of Tamiya kits, but the later ones seem to work well eg the Corsairs.

Very nice DaveThumbs Up [tup]Thumbs Up [tup]Thumbs Up [tup]!!

Well, I managed to get the canopy onto the Bell the other night, and have just sprayed her after a little touch up.

Had to make the canopy mounting braces out of putty to keep it in scale.
Also added a couple of extra panels that I hadn't noticed existed on previous pics I looked at.

After the paint has dried, I'll Future it, and mount the engine ass'y and legs, and finish basic ass'y.
Then onto the fuel tanks, and hopefully some decals, just have to make a couple of phone calls interstate to locate some Roo emblems.

June 30 is rolling in faster than I thoughtShock [:O]

Eeek, I take a couple of weeks off modeling and now I'm up the proverbial creek. Tom I hear what you're saying with the midnight oil.

I know this is going back a few pages now but Sean that is awesome work on the Bell.

Dave, your mustang looks great, I realise that you have probably answered this already but what did you use for paint, it's very effective.

Cheers
Darren

I put my Mitchell's wings together ove the weekend - it's a bit different doing a 1/48 bomber, quite a bit of plastic to manage. A few pretty awkward bits to fit together so I've got some sanding & filling to do while I wait for that bloody instrument panel. Getting pretty pissed off w. Accurate Minatures - they seem to be completely ignoring my emails & I can't close up the body.

Darren I used Humbrol 27001 Aluminium. I was intending to use Humrol 27002 polished aluminium but had a blonde attack and used the wrong one. It worked out for the best in the long run as it looks good to me.

Dave can you tell me how much did you thin down the Humbrol 27001 and how many coats did you need to get the coverage that you did, it sure looks effective.

Cheers

Jules - it's in a Dk Earth, Dk Green over Sky Blue... it has an Ace of Spades on the rudder with Aussie Roundels etc... oh yeah it's a Mk.VIII

Darren - good luck to you! thankfully the Hasa Spit goes together like a charm!!! I'm doing a Mk.V for the N.A. GB and so far it's a breeze!

Darren - I use around 1 thinners to 3 paint for Humbrols when I airbrush. I did at most two coats for the Mustang. The only dramas I found is that you need to seal the silver paint ASAP as it actualy rubs off easily and I can't use my normal wash method of thinned paint as the silver comes off if left unsealed.
