Kaz,

Special Hobby is a Czech manufacturer. Stable mates of MPM.

All my Camo schemes are by hand as I prefer them that way. Lots of pics of my 'Shagboat' on the 'It floats it Flies' group build site, but here are a couple to be going on with.

Hope you like them.

Your 'Shagboat looks good, nice work.

FrostyGirl: Interested in a GB for WWI Biplanes? There are so many paint schemes for the German biplanes, and so many planes that can be built that can be linked to their pilots. Thats a lot of fun. I like telling my curious visitors that my planes belong to someone.

Kaz:

Harrowbeer, excellent work on the Mustang. I have a Mustang B in the wings and you've motivated me to get started.

Keep up the great work everyone!

Yeah Kaz, I like doing that too. For example, my build for this GB, the F/A-18A Hornet was flown by Wing Commander B.J.S. Mouatt of 3 Sqn. RAAF Base Williamtown in November 1987. I was about 11 months old at the time!!!! Big Smile [:D]
Of course, sometimes generic a/cs are good, because you can 'make up' the history behind them. Tongue [:P]
Cheers,
John

Harrowbeer:
Excellent !!! What a great looking plane. I've just drooled all over my keyboard!
I am curious if you paint your camo scheme by hand, or are there things you can apply to make the camo patterns right? Also what is 'Special Hobby offering' ? Is this a manufacturer?
Hey, off topic, are there any pics of your Walrus (Shagbat) around somewhere?
I'd love to see them. I have some more pics of my Walrus (I have filled some gaps and done another round of touch-ups) at my boyfriends website.
http://www.users.bigpond.com/kazadz (Images Page - BiPlanes)

Stuka: Are you doing the paint scheme for the Typhoon that badge is?
If so, what a great bit of luck!
I am glad to be of some assistance to someone.
I'm looking very forward to seeing this model, I must say.

FrostyGirl: How is things sweet? Interested in a GB for WWI Biplanes? Should we see about some more interest? I would love to see some more WWI Biplanes built in the group builds. I would really love to see others builds of the same models I have built to date. There are so many paint schemes for the German biplanes, and so many planes that can be built that can be linked to their pilots. Thats a lot of fun. I like telling my curious visitors that my planes belong to someone.

Look after yourselfs.

Hi ,

Well here it is my finished offering for this build. A Mustang Mk 1 of 414 Squadron RCAF.
Model is based on time frame of April/ May1943 when the Squadron was in the Army Co-Operation Role, hence no squadron codes. The kit was the Special Hobby offering, not a bad kit, fairly easy build but quite a lot of cleaning up to do from injection flash. Also difficult to fit the fuselage halfs together after installation of Cockpit but a bit of juggling around and in it went.

Hope you like the pics,

Cool thanks Kaz!
Just finished the camo on my Tyhpoon and it looks good except for a little overspray which I need to redo so when I do that I'll post some shots (hopefully better than last time) to show you all how it looks!

Stuka: I have just reread your last message and realized that you have a 1/32, not a 1/72 Academy Sopwith Camel, which is what I have built.

Will post the pictures soon anyway.

Stuka:

I have just completed construction and paint of an Academy Sopwith Camel. I need to do HEAPS of touch ups. I also erred with the placement of decals. (Hence my lack of pictures at the moment)

I will post the Sopwith Camel shortly, with some build notes.

Well Kaz, here is one idea:

I also have another little Polikarpov and an Ilyushin biplane I need to shoot pics of as well. While I'm at it, I may as well get the pics of my Italian Cr34 Falco too!

I'll post them when I get them taken.

Dan: Yippee!!! I am running around the room like a child on Christmas morning.

Duke: Thanks again for the kind words. As my boyfriend would tell you, I am trying !?!

Since there is provision to build more than one model for this group build now, I will link some pics of the aircraft I have built since the DR I.

SPAD XIII

I have an Albatros DV/Va to build next, and am having a terrible time trying to get the right colours from the LHS.
Come On {LHS}, we still build WWI models, and need the paints stocked!
I wish to build Richthofven's Albatros, but if I continue having my current nightmares with paint supply, I may change my scheme.

Whats next? Well, I have a nice *little* collection of some of the important biplanes of the past, and would like to continue building WWI and pre/post WWI biplanes.
Any suggestions?

Thanks all and 'push on' with those *fantastic* attack aircraft you are all building.

Kaz :)

Thats handy for me as I'm ladened down with several other group builds at the moment!
I finished spraying my D-Day stripes yesterday and they turned out even better than I expected so I sprayed a clear gloss to protect them abd I 'm now masking it all of to start with the colour coats and camo! I'll post a progress pic soon!

Thanks John. The doc's said that I need to rest for about 2 months (I'm sure he meant 2 weeks though!!).

Good luck with your decal applying, can be a laborious job a times but well worth the effort!

Sorry to hear about your 'bike moment' Dan. At least this'll give you more modelling time!! Big Smile [:D]
I'm now wading into the HUGE job of applying all the tiny little warning stencils on the Hornet!! I had no idea there were so many!! Anyway, I've finished the top part, so I'm now working on the sides. Not much use posting pics though, because most of them are too small to be shown by my little camera.
Cheers,
John

Looking great John. By the way I am extending the deadline for this build so that I stand a chance to get something done. New end date is the end of the year (31/12/2005), so feel free to build as many kits as you want. Hopefully I will be able to get 3 birds in. The A6 Intruder which I have just completed the cockpit on, an F16 'Top Gun' and also an Su35. This extension is purely selfish reasons as I have just had another bike 'moment' at the weekend and have damaged my knee and maybe fractured my wrist. Damned machines! Anyway this will allow many of you who are doing so well to start more kits!! Hope none of you mind!

Thanks all,

Dan

Thanks gentlemen for the links for those decals. When I've got the cash, I'll be ordering. I appreciate it.

Kaz, you're coming along fine. I can't wait to see what you've got built so far. Keep up the great work.

Excellent build John ! The Cobra head is very cool...

Me too loves the decals. I'll have to think about some more Australian planes for the future. I have one Walrus (Shagbat).

Stuka: Are you interested in the badge I built? If not I will remove it from my host.

I wonder how we are all doing with our constructions? So far all pictures I have seen posted have been most impressive. I really had no idea of just how fine an art modelling was.

I suppose I am now a convert. Acrylic paints to replace nail varnishes! LOL

OK I finally got onto putting some decals on. Not all of them are on yet, but most of the major decals are there. In these 2 pics, you can see basically what the livery is. At the front, you can see the high-vis 'cobra head' and behind it, the RAAF roundel, a blue circle with a red kangaroo inside it. In the second pic, you can see the Southern Cross emblazened on the vertical fin, with the tri-colour ID flag next to it. Down near the bottom, you can see the a/c's ID number- A21-8.

Hope you like 'em.
Cheers,
John

FrostyGirl: Thanks for the kind words :)
On the album page you advised for the D VII, I only see boxes, no pictures, no matter how long I wait.

I do spend a lot of time in pre-assembly. Clean peices, wash peices, paint, etc.etc.
I keep reminding myself that it is my boyfriend that is the Modeller, and I am his apprentice. (But there is no way in the world I am going to start making tanks and guns for him!)

I still have not got back to my DR I, but hope to this afternoon or tomorrow morning (before a barbeque), with 'the boy'.
