Another very very nice build, Karl.  You should be very proud, that one's a keeper.

Not that anything that's built by you is in any way lacking, but I like this one a lot.

You should not put such things on this forum.....or at least have a warning..."This model is so real it could cause health problems or accidents due to excitement".

It is soooooo good it could cause physical harm to someone first looking by their excitement and at my age I'm glad I was sitting when I looked Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

You are as I have said in the past, the master of finish.

Very nice....and it is great to see our friends back too!!

You know I never had any interest in building a Halftrack.....Until Now!

WOW Doog, this build looks totally awesome! From the interior details, to the great camo job, the Uber-realistic tracks on the front, and cool figure to top it off!?! You absolutely outdid yourself and I can only hope to have an iota of this level of skill in my builds.

Well done sir!

Yes, a warning; a disclaimer. You should add a disclaimer at the first of your projects to avoid any lawsuit or claims from the effects of your build.

Seeing work like this gives me that extra urge to try and improve my builds, another thread to bookmark I think!!

Thanks, panzerguy Steve, Huxy, and Tony!

Steve, I almost went bonkers myself with that styrene thread! I tried using real wire, but the stress on the plastc parts from trying to bend it properly would have been excessive, so I had to improvise.

Tony--I didn't know there was a 1/144 Leopold either--I found it unexpectedly on eBay!

disastermaster Steve---LMFAO! That's a GREAT photo! I feel like that on some days! LOL! Thanks for the comments, and for the good laugh!

Thanks too, David! I appreciate ya looking in and commenting!

And Edmund--thanks sincerely! An "honorary German?" Well, at least I have the first name correct, eh? LOL! Thanks again!

Thank you as well, Mark! "Cor blimey"?--I just learned a new expression! Big Smile [:D] Cool!

Thanks again, all!

Now why on earth would you refere to this one as a soft-skinned non-armor piece? It's an armored half-track, that's why it's called a Schutzenpanzerwagen after all! Big Smile [:D] All they did was plop in the 2.0cm and ammo and voila! Wink [;)]

doog: I'm not too "cut to the chase", am I???...Big Smile [:D]  You have established yourself as such a top-notch builder here that I wonder if the guys aren't willing to critique and comment in a way that's even remotely negative (not the right word, but you know what I mean).  I know you'd do the same for me...and you have...I think it makes us better modelers.

By the way, it's TOUGH to find something you may have overlooked!  I hope my input helps...

Hey Jeff--Thanks for the comments; I have to say that I never really think of halftracks as being necessarily "Armor" per se,--maybe that's why I held off so long from building one?--but you could call it either way; I'm glad you like it though!

Steve--I've got no problem with people calling it like they see it. Sometimes it helps me to see things in a different light. If I can improve my build through honest criticism, then it's all good. I would hate to think that people here would misguidedly insulate me from that just because of some "status" I may or may not have or hold. Nobody's perfect, and I certainly never want my work to be treated as if it was. Thanks for your thoughts. Smile [:)]

doog,

All I can do is echo what everyone else has said - great build!  I have to admit, I was skeptical when I got my first look at your camo scheme, but you pulled it all together with the weathering.

I am not sure if I think this is your best work to date, only because I am so impressed with so much of your work that it is hard to elevate one above another.

On a somewhat unrelated topic - a few builds ago, I recall you using a scotchbrite pad (I think) and dipping it in a 'mush' of oil paints and then using it to apply scratches or scuffs or some such thing.  Was that your Hornisse build?  I'm asking because I am going to do that to my current project and just wanted to get a second look at your approach.  If you have the link to the specific build, that would be appreciated.

Yup!  That's the one.  Man, I LOVE that build!  See, that is why it is so hard to pick your 'best', doog.  They are all so darn good in their own unique ways!

Dooooooog - I finally got all of the pics to load on my crap dialup. They were immediately saved to a file for future perusal! At this point I think the only adjective I can come up with is FLAWLESS. Wow. I really don't know if there's any way to improve this build...? Shock [:O]

Thank you kindly, Scott!

The MIG pigments are fabulous products. You can see the results of using them on the wheels and suspension there. For weathering mud, dirt, etc, in my opinion, they are the "industry standard"! They really do last a long time, so the cost of them is justified. I suggest getting one of their sets of 3-4 bottles. They will last through dozens of models with ease!
