Thanks for the props guys!

Im currently waiting for some wood to do a bit of cabinetry on the interior of this beast.  I applied the gloss clear coat.  Also waiting on some brass tubing for the off road roof rack that will cover a lot of the whole roof.  Of course some accessories are mandatory so this thing is far from finished.  I did another mock up and Im honestly loving the photogenic qualities of this kit.

Man that thing looks good Joe! The 1/20 scale kind of throws me off track a little. I wonder why MPC did the odd scale? This thing must be a dang beast as far as size goes but must have a ton of detail.

Today I did a little of micro carpentry.  I present to you what I call....Redneck stove cabinet!    LOL!

I was waiting for some balsa wood but lost my patience and used some crafts sticks.  Im now thinking what tintI will use so it matches with the other interior parts.  I also did the other muffler with solder wire and Bare Metal (Matte aluminum finish).

I will get more interesting when I start making the roof rack.  Here is one I made for one of my RC scalers a couple years ago.  I hope for a similar design, scaled down to 1/20.  This one is 1/10.

Material for the roof rack got here today!  These brass rods are a bit more stiff than I thought but I will manage.

Keeping the vintage style the floor of the rack will be made of wood.  After painting I will add the planks, the throw some good accessories there and go camping!

Finished and tinted the roof rack.  The tint is a Mahogany wash color (Vallejo) then clear coated with Future.

Thanks guys! It was my first time working with brass and solder.  I have plenty experience soldering wires but this was a first for me.  Currently working in the wood for the roof using 1/16 thick balsa wood.

First roof accessory, spare wheel and tarp.  Tarp is masking tape painted gray and it will be wheathered later.  Ordered some EZ line for some ropes to "secure" it in place.

Interior mock up.  Everything fits good and wood paneling looks at home inside, matching well with the rest of parts.  Stove was finalized and test inside.

All I can say is WOW!! An outstanding job. I had either this kit or a very similar one late 70's or early 80's.Been too many years back to remember exact details.

Waiting on some items to detail the roof rack.  In the meantime I made two kind of sleeping bags, weathered and detailed.

Hey Misty, whats your opinion on the muddy details in the van's exterior?  Since Im planning a little diorama, I imagined the guy (or guys) encountering a few mud potholes along the way.

This is some of the most ridiculously-creative and well-executed modeling I've seen in this forum in a long time! The interior and detailing is incredible!

I only wish you'd chosen a bolder color for the exterior. Powder blue and white is so....placid. Something a little more bold and wild seems like it would fit the overall tone of the build more? But, that's just my opinion. :) Great work!
