Steve - thanks so much for the help with the reels. I kind of figured that is what they might be but am not sure where they are going to fit on the Dreadnought, but I will use your example as a start.

Thanks also for the help with the miserable Photobucket. I will give Imageshack a look.

BTW, for photo hosting I use Imageshack, no adds and no watermark but that just me. Others use other hosting sites and avoid Photobucket like the plague

I understand most all but 2 and 3 have me perplexed as to where to put them.

Those are hose reels. #2 is how it looks on the tree and #3 is what it should look after bending. I use a piece of small round sprue, usualy from Evergreen, to use as the center of the reel. I will sometimes also wind some small gage fishing line around the sprue to simulate the hose.

Hi Tankbuilder - yes, I have done that with my HO RR projects and considered it but there were so many and so tiny that I decided the Krystal Klear would be effective.

 When I drill out ports , I always use .020 clear sheet inside painted black on the inside. I seems to work well in all scales.I learned this from the stuff I do with trains .

Those holes are to mount the booms for the torpedo nets.

Another question for someone more astute than me. I bought the Wood Hunter deck and also got some PE. I understand most all but 2 and 3 have me perplexed as to where to put them.

And frankly, I am also having some trouble figuring out where some of the Trumpeter sub-assemblies are supposed to be used once built.

Well, here are the 2 pictures but don't think I will be able to continue with Photobucket as they say I am using 20.5 of 25MB band-width. Don't know what it means but seems like Photobucket may not be the way to go now??    

Chris - I have that October 2015 tutorial and am using some of those ideas, such as adding grills to the hawsepipes, from below.

I am also going to add some ribs (maybe not 16), as I see them in some of the photos I searched.

Also, I have drilled out all the many ports and filled from behind with Krystal Clear. Think it looks OK on this super deck.

I'll be following you on this.  I got the kit last year with the deck and other goodies. I also agree that the Trumpeter kit is the best after some research before I invested in all that plastic, metal and wood.

There is an article from 2017 (I believe) in FSM that will be a great tutorial in the construction, and was the inspiration for me to get it. Always been one of my favorite ships. 

Nino - thanks for the help. Yes, I want to drill them out as I am pulling out all the stops with this kit and the add-ons. Still waiting for 2 sheets of Eduard PE.

As to the ports, I too had thought to use Micro Kristal Klear and will try that from the inside before I close the deck. If not, I will try some of the left-over plastic sheets I have from some HO windows, again from the inside.

I also saw mention of grills for the chain lockers so I am using some old screens from a tank project, again from the inside.

As to the torpedo nets, I will wait to see what the PE sheets have.

Those holes/depressions are Port Holes.  Most of us drill'em out. 

     Option to to use some Tempra-type paint to fill the holes- them wipe off excess on hull works too. The port holes really stand out with gloss black.

     Another option.... I have tried drilling the port holes in another model , painting the hull, then using Testors Crystal Clear in each port hole to simulate glass, and then adding the deck.  However, I found this to be awkward as I feared, with good reason,  scratching or marring the painting on the hull while getting the deck glued in place. I just drill now.

Glad you spotted the locations for the Torpedo net booms

You can make your own Torpedo net to be rolled up against the hull.  I read of one modeler using thin black shoe lace.

To show the net extended there is some PE out there to show it hung in place but it is sized for a water-line display.

I have not built the Dreadnought but I am interested in getting the Trumpeter kit as I consider it better than the Zvezda version.
