Yes. All of our titles will be converted eventually.  Most already have.  Scale Auto should be coming up soon I believe.  I don't have a definitive date tho.  There should be postings on that sites forums as the date gets closer though.

I just want to give you guys a hand for being so patient with all of us while we get used to the new format. Kudos to you! :)

Sure would be nice to have a "Go To Last Unread" option.  I'm really not liking not having a "Last Page"/"First Page" button on multi-page topics.  The amount of whitespace is still jarring me--I keep going to "View" and checking that I've not "Zoomed Text Only."

Further, I'm still not sure I can see photos in the threads--given how FF 13.0.1 is responding to pages, I'm presently loath to go to a picture-heavy post just to check.

As one of the "old timers" here on the forums who has been through a few of these format changes I have to say this is one of the more smoother. I am still walking through like it was a mine field but also giving it time.

My only complaint at this time is I HATE the look for each member....I miss and would love to see returned the

Lastly, the medal format seems low....after 3000 you top out, may want to expand...add a third color

A lot of things change because of the software package -- which was not designed by Craig or anyone else here. On the other hand, a lot of the cool things you're experiencing with the mobile side are because of months of diligent work by Craig and others

I understand your desire for us to keep things reasonable. I think that is only fair - as you said, Craig and you are not the ones 'to blame' for everything that we might be disatsified with.

At the same time, please understand that some of us don't use mobile devices to access the site, so if the 'advantages' of this change acrued primarily to them, we might be feeling a bit... frustrated.

Just so you know, I am not blaming your, personally, for any of the features that I dislike about the new forum. I'll apologize if you feel like I was doing that - it was not my intent.

I'm noticing something, that when you get an email notification about a reply to post, thread, etc, that when you click the link in the email , It randomly takes to places in the thread.. not to the last post, sometimes it does tho, sometimes its to the top of the page that the last post was on..

I'm getting used to the changes.. keep up the good work,,

Are you referring to the "85" unread messages and wanting to clear that out?  I should be able to do that for you.  Let me know.  Thanks.

Okay, checking this out on my mobile device of choice, iPod. It appears that i can add to the posts unlike the previous version. Liking that! It looks like it loads post #1 of the thread though, and i have to keep loading more posts - verry annoying in a long thread. Am i missing something?

Unfortunately the mobile version of the community does not have all the features included in the "full site" at this time.  This includes not being able to sort replies to a thread.  At the moment all replies to a thread will be loaded in order that they were created so that the first replies appear first. 

We are looking at more ways to improve the mobile experience and have more of the options available in the full site available in mobile as well.  So it is likely that this will be remedied in a future release of the mobile version of the community.

If you prefer you can also view the "full site" by clicking the "full site" link located at the bottom of the mobile page.  This will allow you to take advantage of more of the features.

The new mobile version looks better on iPod than the old one did, but if I'm looking at a thread any longer than a page or two, it takes a great deal of time to get to the newest post.

If it was an easy thing to do, then yes.  But sadly it's not.  The option to sort the replies was actually removed from this version of the platform.  I had inquired about this to our vendor when I originally started working with this version a year ago.  Was basically told that it's not supported at the moment and would be looked at.  So in order to actually get it to work in the "full site" I had to do a bunch of workarounds.  The same workarounds could probably be done on the mobile side as well, but it would take time to construct and implement.  So since this isn't a quick and easy fix, this is more likely to be a "future enhancement" type of thing with mobile.

One other thing (as if you guys don't have enough on your plate already, eh?)

When you reply to a post, regardless of where the post is on the thread, you are returned to the last page and your latest reply. So, for example, if I am on page 4 of a 12 page thread, and reply to a post in the middle of the page, I'll wind up on the last page and have to navigate my way back (which is often easier said than done since it is often easy to lose track of what page you are on). In the previous version of the forum, when you posted a reply, you were returned to the message you were responding to.

Any chance to make that happen again, or is it one big PITA to get it done?

I have a list of my blogs over the years and refer to them on my web site. Well it seems like items from 2010 or older I cannot link to them. If I click the link I had I end up on the forum main page.

I've been here a while. Seen all the changes since 2003 and learned to live with them. I've come and gone over the years and never said anything but hello when I came back. Three years ago I told myself that I wasn't going to let anyone get to me again, that I was sticking around no matter what. Well, you've done something that even MikeV couldn't do. You should give that some thought because you can't even get rid of him.

This looks like a kiddie site now. It's friggin rediculous. Your Reply box can't even keep up with my typing. Navigate to the end of a many page thread? Two pages at a time? lol That should bring group builds to a screeching halt. There's some very talented people here and it's a shame that they have to jump through your hoops.

I'll check back in a couple years and see what the next update brings. But for now it's time to hang up the bones...

That's expected behavior within the community.  When you post a reply to a thread your reply is always added to the end of the thread since it's the latest one. So the default behavior when you post is to redirect you to the post you just made so that you can see it, so if you hit the reply button on page 4 of a 12 page thread, your response will appear on the 12th page and that is where you are directed to.

I might be able to change that behavior so that it takes you back to the post you responded to, however there is a drawback with that approach.  Since your reply is always added to the end of a thread, if I direct you back to the post you hit the reply button on, you won't see the post you just made since that is now on the last page.  For example, if you hit the reply button again on page 4 of a 12 page thread and then post your response, I could take you back to page 4 again, however your response still appears on page 12.  You'd have to manually go to the last page to actually see your post.

So there's pros and cons to both approaches.  I see what you are saying tho about the longer threads.  I don't think our vendor took that into consideration when they built the platform.

That particular type of link is no longer supported by our vendor.  The only reason being because the post being referenced is technically a thread and not a post, so it's handled a little bit differently.  My suggestion would be to update your link just slightly.  The first number is the important one.  The 114226.  The second number is what is throwing things off since that no longer exists.  If you remove the second number and replace the /p with a /t, it should work.

So instead of:
http://cs.finescale.com/fsmcs/forums/p/114226/1139118.aspx

Use this:
http://cs.finescale.com/fsmcs/forums/t/114226.aspx

A majority of the older links should still work.  There is a weird one though since it's a post link being used as a thread.

I'm sorry to her you are leaving the Forum. I'm not sure about the issue with he reply box. It is working fine for me. If you want to reach the end of a long thread, use the button with the >> on it at the end of the page navigation. It will take you straight to the last page of the thread.

Yes... Im thinking of leaving too.... Im so sick of pop ups trying to sell me a subscription EVERY time I open the site.... Obviously I have a subscription already since  I have access to the member site.... and I still get these pop ups..... not to mention there is still content that requires even more purchases to read....   Ya'll spend all the effort on making the site look nice.. but very little on the content,,, the articles that I thought would be a reference for model building techniques are so  brief and generalized that I feel like they are written for a child ... not and advanced modeler.....   It will def me my last subscription to this site and the magazine

I don't want to change where my post winds up (it belongs at the end of the thread since it is newest). I want to change where I end up. So, for example, if I am reading through a thread that is 12 pages long and reply to a post somewhere in the middle pages, I'd expect my post to be at the end of page 12, but when I hit the "reply" button I'd like to be redirected to the post I replied to. That is how it worked on the old forum and it made it a lot simpler. As it is now, if I don't happen to pay attention to what page I was on, I'll have to go hunting through the thread to try to figure out where I had left off.

You have basically described what I hope for in the second paragraph of your reply. I guess I don't see the cons of it since if you are reading through a long thread, you'd likely want to continue reading following any reply you posted. I don't really need to see my post, since I know what I said...

I worry that I am talking myself into circles. Have I made any sense? (Do I ever make any sense...)
