What do you listen to while you work on models?

We have a public radio station in the Twin Cities that has several frequencies, and the one I leave my radio tuned to is their classical station. It plays classical in evenings, lighter fair during day, including broadway, folk, and light classical.  One thing I really like is that it plays a lot of contemporary classical stuff- stuff composed in 20th and 21st century, which a lot of classical music stations ignore.

Pretty eclectic for me.  Usually listen to "classic rock" station, but also some country, classical, easy listening, folk.  About the only thing I can't take is hip-hop and acid rock.

Right now I have a CD in the Jeep of "Bread" and just have left in in the player for now.  "Everything I own" hits a chord with me right now.

I confess to being an 80's metalhead.  So my go to band is Iron Maiden...but there is always some Judas Priest, Scorpions, AC/DC, etc playing too.

It shifts a lot, depending on the mood. Lately,  though, I have been listening to an album called "For Freedom Alone", a collection of Scottish music released to promote the separation vote from a year or two ago. Mostly older stuff with a couple of new recordings.

From your locale and avatar, I assume you're a Swede, I amm too, but ABBA? Yikes. 

My music tastes run the gamut, I wouldn't even call it eclectic, more like schizophrenic. I'll easily bounce from Roy Orbison to Public Enemy to Mozart to Maiden. 

Lately the Hamilton Mixtape has been on a loop.

I also like listening to the Nerdist podcast. Hardwick has a gift for great conversations with a wide range of people. 

I've always liked the "sound" of Abba...but have never bought any of their stuff.

The main groups in my play list are: Yes, Rush, Dream Theater, Flying Colors, Transatlantic...progressive hard rock. Also have smatterings of The Beatles, ELP, Pink Floyd...and a lot more.

I've got Spotify on my iPad so I'll usually have that playing.  I've got groups like Journey, The Tremeloes, The Bee Gees, Bon Jovi, Meatloaf, Sammy Davis Jr., Jim Croce, John Denver, Dean Martin, Roy Orbison, Marty Robbins....and yes....ABBA, too.

I don't listen to any music or radio. I prefer the peace and quiet when building my kits.

I was trained to be a pianist so the local classical station is set on the radio but I like '40s big band music and '50s & '60s rock and roll too. Once in a while, I like to hear military band music.

I am Swedish, but I too, was like "yikes" when I heard ABBA, but I got a bunch of reords for my birthday, ABBA was one, and I was like "why not?", gave it a try and it's pretty sweet. As for my avatar, it's pretty dank (learned that from my neice), but my profile name refers to the German "Flakpanzer Wirbelwind" of WW2, I was going to do "Luftvarnskanonvagn", which is a Swedish triple-A, but it is a bit too long.

    My favorite while model Building is music with a driven beat and theme . Such as Flyte of the Valkyries , Rocky  , I like Autobahn by KraftWerk and anything by Trans-Siberian Orchestra . Sadly their music ( the latter ) is only Christmas themed . And other strong themes .

     For any vocal stuff I like the old themes for the flag and country and services . Nothing gets my Blood flowing like the " Marine Corps Hymn and the Navy Hymn . Not to forget to mention the Army and Air Force Hymns . Bridge on the River kwai and so on . I must Not forget anything by Pink Floyd

95% of the time, I have Pandora Radio on the PC. "Gamma Ray" is my station. Mostly European "Power Metal"...y'know, dragons and rainbows. For you metalheads, Gamma Ray was formed by Kai Hansen, who formed Helloween. The musicianship is top notch. Favorites include the 2 already mentioned, along with Sabaton, TYR, Kamelot, Dark Moor, Maiden, Megadeth, Testament, etc.

Music I listen to? Depends on what mood I'm in. It varies from Wagner Ring Cycle, to Loreena Mckenittt, Faun, Nox Arcana and epic music like 2-steps from Hell and Globus.

I have over 2.5 days of music on my iPhone which I shuffle play most times I'm at my bench.  Everything from country to heavy metal, late 1960s to modern.  The music helps isolate me in my work space, blotting out the other sounds in the house.  but no ABBA.  I have to draw the line somewhere

As a retired proffesional Jazz musician, I of course listen to Miles Davis, Lee Morgan, Jazz Messengers, Rasaan Roland Kirk, John Coltrane, and every other jazz musician you can think of!  

I also have to listen to a lot of Led Zepplin, Jimi Hendrix (One of the greatest guitarist/performer of all time), Rush, and Yes.  Plus the majority of rock music from it's inception to present.

My iPhone has over 4,000 songs.  From jazz, classical, rock, ethnic, etc.  I should just add that music period is in my iPhone!  LOL!

Nice. I'm a huge fan of Charles Mingus. I used to go to the basement of the Time Cafe in Manhattan every Thursday night for the Mingus Big Band. Every week was a different lineup and you never knew would would be on stage or in the audience. The only constant was his widow, Sue graciously hosting.

We used to get invited to sit in on live recordings at Bradleys too.

I would tag along and sit quietly by him while they played.  I never gave a second thought of who he backed up, all I new was that he was my hero.  It was in my teens that I realized who these people were.  He also was a pick up artists in which any big show that came to town, he would be available to play for the show.  One of the biggest shows was with Elvis Presley.  I'll never forget that!  Thank you sir for the memories, I am so happy for this!

You've brought back fond memories for me.  Thank you so much for everything in allowing me to step back into time long ago!

Oh, that is so awesome!  Charles Mingus is a legend in the world of jazz.  You are a very lucky person to be able to see the Mingus band and sit in on live recordings at Bradley's as well!  That's just great!

I was lucky to grow up in NYC, there was always something going on, no matter who or what you were into. I saw a lot of up and coming players before they made it, whether is was a Monday night at Cunningham's place or CBGBs before it was popular, just tiny holes in the wall that became icons.

Not just jazz either, hung out in Washington Square with Ozzy and Randy Rhodes on a Saturday afternoon, Steve Harris hanging out on 14th. Good times back in the day.
