Hey Bobby, pretty soon your gonna have to build an addition to the house if that stash keeps  growing lol.

I keep trying to tell him there are far more important things to put in the garage than a car Big Smile

LOL!  The kids have mentioned this too.  I have knocked the idea around of zoning the garage for air conditioning and sealing it up...just a thought right now.  But think about it, a whole garage!

K, those are some really nice builds.  But that 1/48 Herc with LED's!  Wow!  Spectacular!  Love it!

@ the doog, if I had a bigger house I could dedicate a room, but currently we have a two bedroom house, hubby, myself, and my daughter, plus 2 cats and 2 dogs, lol.

goldhammer, yep I've already thought of that, gotta wait quit a few more years, and probably fight hubby for the room, lol.

scottrc, it's not so much the animals I have to worry about, its the wind apparently.  I had the front door open, literally a few minutes ago, and a gust came through and knocked the B-25 off the wall!  Looks repairable, but I swear it's cursed, this is the 3rd time it's fallen.  I dropped it twice on accident.Embarrassed

Thanks!  Herc's are my favorite.  I made that one to resemble one of the Herc's we had here at the base, 91188.  It's since been transferred to a base in Alabama as our base transitions to KC-135's.

I'm starting to think I might have a problem.  I've been told by a few different people that I've taken things just a bit too far, lol.  My living room doubles as an airplane museum!

1/48 F-101 Voodoo, 1/48 F-4 Phantom, 1/48 A-10 Thunderbolt, 1/48 F/A-18 Blue Angels Hornet, 1/48 F-16 Thunderbird.

Only problem I can think of, is keeping the cat from getting at your models Big Smile

My cats are almost 10, fat and lazy, lol.  They don't mess with the models at all.  My fat cat did knock the F-16 off the shelf once cause she couldn't fit her fat butt by it.

Creative decorating is all I've gotta say. However.... (don't you hate that?) I did spy an error on the F-18 Blue Angel kit. They're never armed with sidewinders on wingtips...Stick out tongue

I do see one thing wrong, all the planes on the wall are nose down. They all cant max climb but its the correct direction. Maybe that is the issue with your B-25....Stick out tongue

Also which base are you refering to? It's a small Air Force...

If you ever have a separate dedicated room for a workroom here's an idea.

Years ago, I came up with an idea when I moved my work area from the basement to a spare bedroom. We used to keep the spare bedrooms closed up to conserve heat in the winter. This would have kept me from using one of them for a workroom. We also had 2 very inquisitive cats. My wife agreed to keeping the door open to keep the temperuture normal in the room but that let the cats have access. We had just redone the back porch and I had the old screen door ready to be tossed out in the trash. Decided to slap a coat of paint on the door and put in up in the bedroom. The cats used to sit in the hall and watch through the screen door. The same thing goes for the dog that we have now. A friend liked the screen door idea so much that he put one on their babys room to keep their cat from jumping into the crib with the baby and they can hear any noise from the room.

Hope that this comes in handy some day.

I always did wonder if I was breaking an unspoken rule by hanging them nose down, but I hang them that way because I add weight to the nose, so they aren't tail heavy if I ever choose to display them on a shelf.  I like having the option to move them around, and not just display them one way.  Hence the reason too that they all pretty much have gear down.  Aside from the Combat Talon, they do all have gear down, lol.  I changed things up with that one a bit.

The B-25 is already repaired and back on the wall, hopefully a little more securely now.  I wrapped the line around the wings, so even a gust of wind picking it up shouldn't do anything but maybe move it a little.

Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station.  I've lived here my entire life, so I've gotten quite fond of the noisy "birds" flying overhead.  I'm going to miss the sound of them.

Keyda- might try brushing gloss clear over the canopy on the one you flat cleared.  Never tried that, but it might help.  Maybe someone else will chime in as to good or bad idea.

Nice to see all you have built.

Once a coat of flat clear is on, appying a gloss coat will only protect the flat coat underneath it - not restore it to crystal clear.

Good job there.  You have many that my wife and I like.  She was a crewe chief on a Herk back at Little Rock when I met her and she loves the Harrier.  They used to send them to airshows a lot back then and while at Little Rock and Korat I got to see just what Herks could do.

This was my wife's ship:

Thank you!  The Herc's are by far my favorite!  Great pics!  I'm still on the hunt for some older pics of the Herc's that were stationed at our base back in the 80's.  I've found a few, but not enough to make out what decals I will need to make.

Icar can probably vouch for this one too, about as much fun as you can have as a spectator......Wait til you get a chance to see a live LAPES pass.  Low Altitude Parachute Extratation System....Come in almost touching the ground and pop a drag chute and out comes a pallet with equipment on it, slides to a stop in a cloud of dust.

I've never witnessed that in person, I'm sure it's a sight to see.  I did get to tour one back in October, and it was great to be able to just wander around inside, take pictures, and touch it, lol.  I love going over near the base when they do their practices, touching the runway and taking back off.  I park right where they fly over before landing, so they fly right over my head.  I could stand there all day. Since you are into 130's, do some research into the gate bird at Little Rock.  It was the last one out of Vietnam, and you won't believe the last flight out of there.....The number of Vietnamese on board when they finally landed after getting lost and almost having the taknks go dry.  Absolutely amazing it even got off the ground, and how they had to close the ramp, and how many were in the cockpit.Huh?Wow

I got to witness that once, right in front of me!

I was at Sherman Field in Ft. Leavenworth, about to back taxi a little Cessna 150, down the runway to take off. ATC came on (this was not normal, as it was not technically a towered airport), told me to hold short. I waited, waited, and waited some more. Then I saw the exhaust trail approaching, then I could make it out as a C-130 (AWESOME)...came across, just a couple feet off the runway, out popped a chute, then a crate on a pallet. Very cool!

Anyway....problem???

Nah, really isn't all that different than what I had going on, years ago. Living room, dining room, hallway, bedroom....anywhere I could get one! That "problem" dwindled as we progressed through bigger and better homes. Now, I have em all in my "war room" in the finished side of the basement. They're a bit crammed now, since I moved the band over to my place....amps and drums take up a lot of space!

I don't see a problem. You still have more wall space! Very nice collection of completed birds. I have no problem...yet...since I just started, and don't have much to show. My wife approved floor to ceiling bookshelves in a spare room, so the book shelves in that room now will be moved to the basement for displaying completed models. Hope to have some display worthy completions soon.

Dwayne or Dman or just D.  All comments are welcome on my builds.

@goldhammer, I've read about that bird a few times.  Watched a program called Mighty planes: Heroic Hercules.  Had one of the men, and two women that were on board that flight.  The gentlemen actually went to school and now works for Lockheed Martin.  He decided that was what he was going to do because of that flight.

@BlackSheep, I have one in the stash, but it's the last C-130 I have at the moment.  I feel the need to keep at least one in the stash, and also I'd like more practice with painting before I tackle it.

You guys are making me jealous with your C-130 stories! Lol.

Lol. This thread is awesome.

Answering your question though, I do see a problem.

As it was already said, you don't have enough display space. That is a serious problem.

Time to make an Ikea run for more shelves!

I had a HUGE 130 model, probably 1/32, that my son built when he was in high school.  He did a nice job, and I finished up the little things that were left when he went away to college.  Had it hanging in my home office for several years.  Then when he moved into a real house of his own, I carefully drove it 800 miles to give it back to him.  Next time I visited, I asked him where it was, and he casually said it "broke" and he threw it out!

Oh no!  Surprise.  That had to be one big model.  The 1/48 has nearly a 2 foot wing span.

Most of them are hubby's offerings when he wants to suck up for losing money at the casino, lol.  A few of them I've had since I was a kid.
