We definitely have to get T-shirts, or agree on some sign (like gardenias in our lapels ), because I missed all of you at the food court around 2:30. Of course, it doesn't help that the clocks in the building don't match, and I don't think either of them are right. But the one in the exhibition hall is behind by over an hour. But I'm sorry I missed you all, we probably passed one another.
The only FSM'er I talked to was armorguy, who is the builder of that outstanding 1/6 T-32 US super heavy tank prototype model. He said it was 4 year's worth of work, and what an amazing piece it is. Quarter-inch plywood hull, coated with fiberglass, scratchbuilt bogeys, road wheels, track links-just absolutely astounding!
The exhibition was really fantastic, too, though a little light on figures, perhaps. But lots of great armor, aircraft, cars and ships. Did you guys see the scratch-built Dinah? And the dios-someone else mentioned "A Bridge Too Far", which was a forced-perspective box diorama, from 1/35 at the front, back to 1/70, I think it was, for the background, kitbashed and scratchbuilt vehicles and figures, really, really great work!
And a scratchbuilt snowspeeder from "The Empire Strikes Back", built to the studio model's scale, that was another really impressive piece.
And the vendors-lots and lots of great deals, as many have already posted. Not just kits, but aftermarket accessories, decals, and documentation-lots and lots of books.
My favorite was Ridgefield Hobbies-tons and tons of nostalgia kits, old Monogram aircraft, newer kits from Accurate Miniatures and others. I got his address and website, I think it'll be worth to visit them in between shows.
Makes me regret never having visited Mosquitocon before now.
Well, AMPS is in two weeks....
