Hi guys

I'm getting back into the game after a long absence.  Looking into what I need to get set up again and where to start with my stash etc.  I've built mainly 1/48 WWII aircraft but also done some 1/72 aircraft and 1/600 Airfix ships.  Have a Tamiya King Tiger in the stash so that might get done one of these days.

I'm in Perth.

Madmike:-  Your thuderbolt looks goods, so does your armour.  (Evil [}:)]Be careful with the armour modelling has a habit of taking overEvil [}:)])

Harvs73:- Sounds like you have been busy.

I have had a set back with the Panzer 1,  teach me to take a break, and then forget to spray a test piece to ensure that the Ducote would not effect the coat under itSign - Oops [#oops].    Sigh [sigh]At least is was only the turret that was effected.

For those that use humbrol Gloss Clear Poly (35) as a gloss finish for decalling - Do not use Dulcote as a final flat finish unless you test the surface that you are overcoating.  Never had problems before with overcoating Humbrol enamels with Dulcote, this was the first time I used the Humbrol gloss, looks like the Ducote reacted with it.

I am in a similar boat but in my case I started a new job in January and have been flat strap since then! So between running the Aussie Modeller website, work, my wife, instructing air force Cadets and a few other things my models have taken a back seat. But luckily of late I have been able to spend some time at making some kits, a 1/48 Barracuda and 1/48 Fairey Firefly Mk 1 for the FAA Group Build.

I suffered the same thing :)

Back into it with a Hobbyboss 1:72 P-47D Thunderbolt. A quick and easy build.

and something I am really getting into, 1:72 armour. After 2 builds I am getting hooked!

I see it's been a bit quite on this thread lately, so to try and liven it up whats everbody working on at present and/or what they are planning to work on next.

 To start the discussion off:-

Damn . . . sorry to hear that. My blood would be boiling and my heart stopped if that happened to me. You could try Ebay, but most LHS sell decal sheets for B-29 from like AeroMaster (well those in Perth anyway). Unfortunately, I don't have a set to pass on. You could log into www.aircraftresourcecenter.com and post on the forum asking if anyone has a spare set, and that you would be happy to trade or pay for them. This has worked for me in the past (not all the time) esp when a DML 1/350 ship kit came with no decals!

Best of luck.

Something to think about, if you don't remove or paint over the mistake decals, you may want to apply two thick decals per area so the dark blue upside-down star points don't appear through the white areas. Just a thought.

Yeah. I just started a new job so been busy my self. And I do check FSM once a week. Anyway, I kinda have several kits open at once and just tinker with one or two every time I can. At the moment, my main projects are a 1/48 kit-bashed Mercury-Redstone and a aftermarket-modified Hasegawa F-4J 'Show Time 100'. There is never enough time!

Hi all

I would like to know of a few good hobby stores in Brisbane. My mom, who has been living in Brisbane for a few months (and doesn't know thw city well enough yet), is coming back to South Africa for a visit. I'd like her to bring a few things with her that I can't find here, particularly an Academy 1/48 Su27 Russian Knights kit, or alternatively a decent decal set that I can apply to the standard Su27 kit.

Thanks for any help.

Sigh [sigh]Can sympathise with you Dave, been there and done that during my 33years in the Air Force, Smile [:)]glad to hear that your models survived, on one removal my entire collection of models never arrived and were never found,Boohoo [BH] almost gave up modelling after that.

At least now that I have retired this shouldn't be a problem any more.

Hope you all had a good break. I've been moving house & still waiting for a new DSL service to be provisioned.

Re MM paints & Hobbyco in Sydney. They have quite a big range of the enamels but no acrylics. As ever, they're totally hopeless at restocking sold-out colours for all paints except Tamiya. It's a shame, I once got some MM acrylics from the US & really liked them.

Wing'z & Things in Gladesville have the best range of Gunze acrylics in town.

Will,

I have also found it hard to find Model master paints for quite a while now, one of the hobby shops in Adelaide has a very limited range of them which seems to get smaller each time I go there.

Seeing that you mentioned Hobbyco I take it you are based in Sydney.   When I was based in the Penrith area, Penrith Hobbies had a full range of Model Master's paints including the acrylics, the shop has now moved to St Marys but I'm not sure if he still stocks them but it might be worth a phone call.

Hope this helps.

Ok, thanks for the suggestion. Like your LHS, my LHS has a ever diminishing supply of MM Ebnamels and metalizers.

Hey everyone. MERRY CHRISTMAS!! Make a Toast [#toast]Propeller [8-]Party [party]
I was wondering about the availability of Model Master Acrylics here in Australia. I can't find them in my LHS or Hobbyco in town. What about your LHSs??

Well, I know I don't call in very often but don't count me out.  I'm from Melbourne's Eastern Suburbs (and a member of Eastern Suburbs club) and I'll build anything and everything.

Hi,

My name is Andrew and I'm from Victoria.

Glad to add my name to the list of aussie modellers.

I have been modelling for 30 odd years but have just returned after a 10 year break.

Have returned by building the 1/00 scale model of HMS Victory, a reak task.

I am into ships primarily older sailing ships. Have the Kearsage as my next project. after Victory. I play around with some 1/35 scale military vehicles as a break.

Glad to be aboard.

Cheers

Andrew
