Will, the entries close on 20 Dec 06. All you need to do to enter is send us one photo of the model to aussiemodeller@hotmail.com . In the email could you list the kit, scale and any aftermarket stuff put on it. If you have any other info you would like people to know about ref the model put that in as well and I will add it to the entry page.

If you have any other questions please ask.

When do entrys have to be in by? I'll enter my Wespe when its done in a week or so.

It's that time of the year again for the Aussie Modeller International Christmas Competition. The competition is open to any Australian Residents (only due to postage costs)  and is for any subject in any scale BUT it can be only one (1) photo of the model. You can enter two different models in the competition so thats only two different images to be sent to AMI.

Go to the AMI site ( www.aussiemodeller.com ) and have a look at the more detailed rules. The prizes to date are:

a. 1/32 Trumpeter TBF-1C Avenger donated by Albury Hobby Centre and
b. 1/35 Italeri Berge Tiger Sdkfz 185

Mark, I have the same problems as you do but I don't thin the stuff at all. I beleive that spraying it on unthinned is better but it hasn't achieved the gigh gloss effect at any time it's been used. I still get silvering on the odd occassion even with high quality decals, decal soloutions etc.

I have also used Long Life but it goes too yellow when used over white paint. There is a new product from the company ArmsModelIT in Brisbane called Passt that apparantly is as good, if not better, than Future. I have been sent some details by the company and will be putting them up on Aussie Modeller in the next few days when I do the next update. The site is www.armsmodelit.com.au

I'm no Future (and future type product) expert, I use long life floor polish and have not had any problems. I went to the Richmond RAAF airshow today, it was soooooooo good!. I was the first airshow i've been to so that probably made it better. I'll post pics and vids if people want. Lol, I went the 5 sets (10) of batteries for the camera. Got to go inside the Globemaster 111, blackhawk, etc.

Hi guys,

I'm trying to use some 'Pledge One Go' in the same way as future is described in all the forums I've been reading.

The problem I'm having is that I seem to be getting a grainy satin finish. Not the high gloss, flat as glass finish that I think I should be getting according to all the future posts.

I'm airbrushing it at 15-20 psi using a medium tip in my badger 150

I'm thinning it with Isocol, 1 part to 3 parts pledge.

If I put it on too wet, the pledge seems to separate like little beads of oil instead of joining together as one flat, smooth coating and it dries with a mottled look.

Am I expecting too much?

Am I doing something wrong?

Is my bottle of pledge no good?

Is pledge not as good as future?

Can I thin it with metholated spirit or windex?

If so, can I then apply it over an acrylic base without damaging or removing the base colour?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Being "adopted" Aussie Modeler, I want to share with you with my recent (nearly hot) project - 1/48 Airfix Supermarine Spitfire VIIIc "HAVA-GO JO !!!", from 79 Sqn. RAAF, Morotai, Papua New Guinea. Decals from AeroMaster Nr 48-780 "Aussie Spitfires Pt.2". Model is nearly OOB except PE parts from Eduard set dedicated to Spitfire Mk IX. As I former discussed, I made her in Dark Earth/Foliage Green kamo instead of two-tone green.

This is my contribution to Aussie Modeler Society, and I do hope you'll like it (I wish I can hear from you: "Dinkum Spit, cobber" ).

My parents just told me that while they were at Cronulla the other day (I was at SCHOOL ), and they were flown over by an Army Huey flying low level, Dad reckons about 70 feet. I can't beleive I wasn't there!!!!!!!!! Mum reckons the guys hanging out the side were wearing black, so my guess is that they were TAG-E, probably heading to Holsworthy. No No No No No

100 pages in this thread, I thought when I started it I would be lucky to go more than 5 Pages - goes to show how persistance us aussies are.

Still not back to modelling yet - just thought I would let people know that this years South Australian Scale Mode Expo will be held on the 20th & 29th October at the Centenary Gym at Christian Brothers College, Wakefield Street, Adelaide.

I have added four pages of images form the Queensland Model and Hobby Expo to the Aussie Modeller International site. The show was quite impressive and there was a high quality of models on display.

Yes, decals.  Had a mental block there.

I hve done a bit of research on Australian Army markings of WW2.

 Can't help you with the pics, but I think you mean decals (those sticky things??), and there is a smiley insert tool. There a bit better than the colan and bracket ones.

Just bought a 1/35 scale Italeri MB Jeep.

Will be the first project in about 25 years. Should be fairly straightforward, they were pretty standardised.

The only thing I want to do is to give it Australian markings, preferably from the Pacific as I already have the olive drab paint  ;)

Does anyone have a link or know of a publication that shows Australian Army markings of WWII? Maybe even a maker of those sticky things I can't think of the name of (good grief).

I'm currently working on a 1/72 Italeri Israeli Merkva MBT. The tracks and wheels stood some improvement. It's an interesting diversion from aircraft kits.

Have already introduced myself in the other section of the forum, but just wanted to say g'day in the Aussie part too! My name is Chris and I'm in Melbourne. I'm prety much a total newbie, and I like constructing 1/48 WWII era fighters/bombers.

A quick question for you all - I've read heaps about Future, and the Australian alternative Pledge 'n' Go from posts that are fairly old so I seem to be getting a lot of different answers. So does anyone here in OZ use it, where can it be bought and is the Pledge stuff as good?
